Breeding for Shinies...

I was informed that this worked quite well. I've bred abut...40 or so Koffing egg, and no shinies. Does this really work, or was I tricked into wasting a hell of a lot of time?

No you weren't tricked. Breeding increases your chances of getting a shiny, but it doesn't mean you'll get one all the time. I've heard that if it doesn't happen in the first 10 eggs, you should change the dad.

In GS, the chances were 1 in 128 (64 if you are breeding with a shiny ditto). I am sure the chances are equal if not higher in RS.

1 in 128 flat? Or to get those odds, do you need a shiny parent?

That was in GSC. It is different in RS but I would think that the odds would be equal to if not more than the odds in GSC so if the first 10 eggs are not shiny, then changing the parents wouldn't make much sense.
