I stopped following the game after they said it was gonna be released as 3 different games coming out about a year apart.
StarCraft II is due to come out some time in the next year, so I've been following its development closely. Many of the VG forum veterans here may know that StarCraft is one of my favourite games ever, so this game has particularly piqued my interests.
Anyway, Blizzard released their first battle report earlier today, and the action looks just as awesome and even more fluid than it was in the original. It looks like an incredible translation and I hope it both remains true to the original fans who love the original so much but at the same time invigorates it to make it the best game ever.
Anyone else following this game? Or any fans of the original who haven't been following this want to comment?

If the publisher was EA or someone else equally disreputable, I'd agree that it was nothing more than a cynical money-making move, however, each game is apparently going to have over 25 full missions, making each game not just an expansion but a game in itself (considering Starcraft and its expansion had 30 missions each IIRC). Plus, each new game will add new units and new features apparently. No one complained when Dawn of War was released as four different games, so why complain here?
Blizzard have officially come out and said that they aren't intending these to be expansions, but fully-fledged epics. The guy actually compared it to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, saying each game will be more than worth your money. Normally I'm not a sucker for such PR bullshit, but Blizzard has a history of living up to their expectations in spades.
I will definitely buy the first instalment of this series, and if it pleases me and the next two look like they are must-gets, I will get them too.
