Reformatting Emachine...

With this here Dell disk .O. Is that even possible? My Mom sent me this abomination, and I just want a working computer, goshdarnit!

I've been hoping from site to site to look how it was done and stuff, and if it wouldn't be too much trouble I'd like a simple easy computer no0by outline of how to do it. Perferably in step form.

is the dell disc like an actual windows install disc or what?

Yeah, its an installer disk for the Window, indeed it is.

well from what i've read, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. i've never tried it before so i don't know if it'll work or not.

I'm really at my wits end though I'll do anything to make it work. I just need to know how to uninstall the computer and what not

you pop the disc in and restart. it'll ask you to press any key to boot from the disc and you press one. it then goes into the windows setup, where you reformat, etc., and install windows.

That's all? I don't need to....like uninstall windows first or dance in a hula skirt or anything outragous. Genuis!

Technically when you format something you're not uninstalling anything, just erasing whatever's on the hard drive.

Have you tried to see if E-Machines have some kind of system restore or Windows installation file pre-installed on a seperate partition on the drive? I know HP does it. On most HP's if you press F8 over and over when the HP logo pops up prior to the Windows logo it gives the option of reinstalling Windows in the event of a boot disk error.

Nah a hammer, baseball bat, (insert bashing implement here) is too overdone. If your going to absolutely demolish the son of a bitch then do what I'm going to do: salvage the parts you can and then take it out to the country with a high powered hunting or assault rifle!
