RESIDENT EVIL
Project: Dunlake
Alpha report 3. January 25th 2019.
The world is much the same today as it was a decade or two ago – that is, full of the same old shit as it always was. Kidnappings are almost the norm, the police think nothing of destroying entire cities, the precedent of Raccoon City gives them free reign when it comes to decisions like that. After all, no-one wants to be a part of the next lost generation, right? No-one in their right mind would want that.
But if it was to bring power, then what? Humans have always been swayed by power. That's what makes us bastards. You never know who among you would give in to that sweet-ass siren power, and to hell with the consequences.
Thank god we've got the police to stop all that. Right?
Only lately... well, those kidnappings? They've been getting more frequent. Sightings of red and white stripes and then bam, nothing. Whoever's doing this, they're clever. And they don't care enough to erase evidence behind them. Maybe they want people to go looking.
There's been rumours. Rumours of an island being built somewhere, whispers that they don't have enough room in their old place for all the dead bodies, but that's gotta be bullshit. It's probably just another scientific research lab, those guys are always needing bigger places.
Shit, this report sort of started to ramble, didn't it? Kidnap numbers have increased by approximately 30%, an alarming number, and even more so when you set it aside the percentage of bodies found, which is hovering around the 5% mark. What the hell is going on here?
Alpha report 5. January 26th 2019.
Not a time for irreverence, if my last report is anything to go by. Sorry boss. So kidnap rates have gone up a further 2%, and this “island” is finished, supposedly. I wonder what's going on there. People don't just build random islands for no reason. I can see the thing from my office window, it looks like a freaking fortress.
Alpha report 8. January 27th 2019.
Okay so fuck this shit, I can't deal with this any more. I'm out of here. Tricell can go fuck themselves. I quit.
Alpha report 9. January 30th 2019.
I decided not to quit after all. I am a loyal Tricell employee, and always will be. End Report.
Dunlake Island has been a looming shadow of dread for too long. A series of investigations into the disappearance of several Tricell employees has led to only one conclusion – something fishy is going on. Bravo STARS team has been deployed to investigate Dunlake, rescue any survivors, and to shut down its facilities, if necessary.

This is an RPG with a difference. I have unofficially dubbed it the “choose your own path” RPG type, after the books of the same genre. There are rules, and they are to be followed stringently.
You play one of a choice of two groups of characters: a STARS Bravo team member, or a kidnapped survivor, in Dunlake Mansion. At some point, the two groups will meet – of course, the nature of this meeting depends entirely upon your actions, and how well you work together as a group. Out of character interaction away from the RPG is highly encouraged. The nature of this RPG also means that characters can come and go as they please. If someone dies, well boo hoo for them, but if you wanna sign up again later as a Survivor or as something else, that'd be awesome.
The premise of this kind of RPG is simple, but effective. I will be playing, for the most part, as an OOC dungeon master. The RPG will be split into chapters, and each chapter will have set points where the DM steps in. When this happens, I will be posting a series of things; these can be a selection of choices for your party to pick from, a choice of which direction to go, a battle, and so on. After these posts, your group must RP among themselves and decide which action you will be doing, after which I will DM post again to tell you of the barebones consequences of your choice, or the monster description and actions, if it is a battle. You will then RP the consequences however you choose. For an example of this, see the Dunlake Mansion Saferoom topic, and if you have any questions, please feel free to accost me on msn (messy_hair_welcome@msn.com) or via pm, and I shall answer them for you.
The nature of this RPG means that I will not be stepping in as a player character until much later. It also means that there are rules, which are as follows;
- Posts may be of any length, save one or two sentences. Use your head and decide. We want to be able to tell what's happening, but the RPG won't go anywhere if they're 2000 words or longer.
- If you get infected during the course of the RPG, you will mutate (woo!) and perhaps become a hindrance to other players. In essence, this means you become a bad guy. Not a bad thing, honest. You get to nom on the others. XD
- If you're sent information via a PM, you are not to tell anyone about it.
- The RPG is survival type, and so expect nastiness. If you don't post within a set time period (before your group has decided upon their action, etc.) you will be killed. No questions about it. However, if you wish to come back, ask me and allowances can be made via Las Plagas.
- Interaction is key. This means that there should be a minimal amount of backstory and expositioning for your character. Your focus should be on the events of the RPG, not some emo crap from your character's background.
- Your posts should be on-topic. This links to the previous points. If you're not caught up with your character, you will be killed off or infected with a strain of virus or plaga. Basically, no posting about something that happened last chapter, unless it relates to what's currently happening.
- There are also rules for each character group: Survivors and STARS. These will be detailed in the sign up section.

STARS
STARS are an elite special ops team, trained in close combat (in some cases, various forms of martial arts), firearms and control of dangerous situations. If anyone can rescue those survivors, STARS Bravo team can! The STARS uniform is a navy shirt with the logo on one sleeve, black pants and heavy duty boots. Protection gear can also be worn. Various holsters are in evidence – thigh, cross-chest, wherever – along with a sheath for your combat knife.
Name: This is a realistic RPG. Nothing fantasy/made-up please, and only have a foreign name if you explain why in your History.
Age: Reasonable ages. Starting at 25 and working up to around 40, I reckon.
Sex: Durr.
Appearance: Again, durr. You will be wearing the STARS uniform, and whatever protection you want, but don't be too over the top. No-one wearing bulletproof vests and whatnot, plx. More protection gear may be found during the course of the RPG.
Personality: Durr.
Rank: Are you a Medic? A Captain? Or anything else?
Weapon: Maximum one gun and a single combat knife. You will be finding more later on. Choose from varieties of Handgun, and the senior ranked person may have a shotgun.
History: Blah blah. There won't be much room for history exposition in the RPG, so anything that's pertinent put in here.
Other: Randomness.
Survivors
The Survivors vary in age, sex, background and everything else. A ragtag bunch of people, thrown together by the machinations of an unseen power, there are many skills within this group, as well as many weaknesses. Together, they can escape! Some among you may have been experimented upon, and will therefore have some kind of minor mutation. If you choose to have a mutation physically manifest, you will be forfeit to further, randomised mutations throughout the RPG. These may not be a bad thing. If you wish to opt out of this, simply state that you have no physical manifestations of mutation. Most of you will be wearing standard laboratory clothes – a long, white robe-type thing. More clothes will be found throughout the RPG.
Name: Same as STARS.
Age: Ages are more flexible here. Go mad. But do remember this is survival, and if you're a little, 5 year old girl, you will be much more likely to die.
Sex: Durr.
Appearance: Ties in with Mutations section. No one will have body protection unless you come across some in the RPG.
Personality: Durr.
Mutations?: Do you have physical manifestations of a mutation? You can have hidden manifestations if you wish, but you must clear it with me first.
History: Same as STARS.
Other: Durr.
