Why does ash never age?!!!

Ok for the last 10 years ash ketchum has remained the same age, 10!! I watching the 5th gen show when the announcer said he was a 10 year old kid, but how is that possible when he went to 3 different regions.I would least expect him to be at least 15 by now!!

It is strange indeed, Pokemon anime gives some signs of time passing, like in one early phase (Ep 67 Showdown at the Poke-Corral) it was stated that Ash had to wait 2 months to Pokemon Kanto League starting (Ep 76 All Fired Up). Taking that into account, one season should correspond a certain amount of time. But still, Ash and other characters seem to stay about the same. In other animes like Dragonball or Naruto the characters age, but not in Pokemon...?

He's eternally ten years old. Or at least from a marketing point of view, they will need a character that can linked up together with real-life kids. You cannot have a male lead that is about fifteen years old and expected him to behave maturely in a show watched by pre-toddlers and six year olds. Besides Pokemon is not a cartoon series that you will expect plot complications like the most recent troll anime, Madoka.
