Good day, ladies and gents, and welcome to Standard Meadow-type Location! Here, a heated battle will take place between Papabopp and Men of Horror. Without wasting any time, the challengers each send out their Pokemon: the former goes for a squat little penguin while the latter opts for a tangled mess of vines with cute little red shoes. Let’s start!
Right off the bat, Papabopp doesn’t like this particular match-up and he goes for a switch. He recalls Aquablade to his Pokeball and instead sends out a mighty red bug with powerful armour. Tomo, however, remains calm against his new foe and summons the sunlight. Suddenly, his Speed improves tremendously and he’s ready to kick some Scizor butt.
Arbiter: <Subbed in!>
Tomo: <-4 EP>
Tomo extends his feelers and latches onto his opponent. He begins sucking health but frowns, barely able to drain a thing. Bah. Arbiter, meanwhile, breaks the hold that Tomo’s vines have on him and begins racing around the meadow madly in a bid to improve his Speed.
Arbiter: <-1 HP; -4 EP; +2 Spd>
Tomo: <-2 EP>
Tomo scoffs. Even with his opponent’s new bout of Speed, he’s still stronger. He demonstrates this by sprinting real close and shaking off a heavy layer of Stun Spore all over Arbiter before he can even move a muscle. The Scizor grimaces and finds his muscles locking up before he can even think of trying to perform a Double Team.

Rather than subbing out of this disadvantageous situation, Tomo chooses to stick it out and erects a glistening silver barrier in front of him. The Reflect catches sunlight as Arbiter bounds into the air and performs a wicked airborne maneuver. He comes down hard upon Tomo, but not as hard as he would were it not for that Reflect. The Scizor growls.

Tomo: <-5 HP; -4 EP; Rft>
Feeling safe behind his protection, Tomo extends his little feelers and starts Tickling Arbiter madly. The Scizor breaks out in a series of girlish squeals and giggles, sacrificing both his offensive and defensive prowess. When at last the Tickling stops, Arbiter pulls himself up, wipes a tear from his eyes and… nothing. Paralysis locks his whole body up, rendering him immobile.

Tomo: <-4 EP>
Putting those vines of his to good use once more, Tomo extends them and grabs hold of Arbiter. He hoists the scarlet insect into the air and brings him Slamming down again onto the ground, though Arbiter’s powerful armour keeps the damage done to a minimum. He quickly retaliates by taking flight and diving down upon Tomo once more, dealing light damage.

As the next round begins, Tomo extends his little feelers and continues tickling away at Arbiter who starts feeling, well, a little demeaned. Sick of his foe’s pesky ability, Arbiter does a little jig on the spot. Suddenly, clouds rolls in and block the sun as rain starts trickling down from the heavens. Suddenly, Tomo’s body begins to struggle to metabolize energy and his agility takes a hit as a result.

Tomo: <-4 EP>
Now that he’s the Speediest Pogey in town, Arbiter his no problem in raising his strong-as-steel defensive ability with a rapid Iron Defence. Tomo takes a swing with a Rock Smash but curses as it does relatively feeble damage. Arbiter only grins.
Arbiter: <-4 HP; -4 EP; +2 Def
Tomo: <-2 EP>
Arbiter does an about-face and begins to flap those wee little Scizor wings of his at a rapid pace. They give off a nice, buzzing gust and send Tomo rolling backward like a tumbleweed. Nonetheless, despite the gale, the Tangela still manages to extend one of his feelers toward Arbiter and hoist the Scizor into the air. He brings him Slamming down to the ground, but alas, that Steel-typing is doing wonders for Arbiter at the moment.
Ooh, a whole round without Paralysis hacks for Arbiter. Tomo is not pleased.

Arbiter folds his pinchy Scizor arms and smirks. By all measurements, everything seems to be going according to plan and he continues seeing that plan through by Buzzing madly. The gusting air cast off by the rapid wing movements beats and buffets poor Tomo who once again Tickles that Scizor like there’s no tomorrow. Arbiter lets out a giggle then scowls. Damn, that’s really getting annoying!

Arbiter keeps up the Bug Buzz barrage while Tomo, on the other hand, continues laying on the effects instead of striking. A calculated move or a hapless blunder? Time will tell. For now, Tomo spits out a little glistening seed that lands neatly atop Arbiter’s head before taking root. What could this mean?

Suddenly, Arbiter’s wings go entirely still and the rest of his body follows suit as Paralysis sets in. No! As a result, he’s a sitting duck as Tomo bounds closes and rubs a little Sleep Powder all over his opponent. Arbiter’s eyes are the only thing moving as they close, sending him away on the Sleepy Train with a direct route to Napsville (population: Arbiter).

As the next round begins, Arbiter begins muttering to himself in his sleep. Suddenly, he rockets forward with a closed pincer outstretched as he targets Tomo with a super-fast Bullet Punch. The Tangela slides backward perhaps a foot but doesn’t seem particularly dazed as he strikes with a Secret Power. The attack connects for minimal damage, all thanks to Arbiter’s Steely armour.

Paralysis kicks in for poor Arbiter as he’s rendered immobile while Tomo, on the other hand, does a little dance. Suddenly, as the field basks in a warm glow, Tomo finds himself blessed with newfound agility. Cool!

Tomo: <-4 EP>
Once again, Arbiter begins Sleep Talking. Suddenly, he explodes with a powerful Hyper Beam that launches Tomo way up into the air. While airborne, Tomo releases his own energy attack in the form of a second Secret Power at his slumbering enemy. Once again, it’s not particularly effective.

Because of the obnoxiously bright sunbeams bathing the field in a harsh glow, his body is able to metabolize the energy all the faster and manages to zap Arbiter with minimal time and effort. However, because of Arbiter’s favourable dual typing, the usually powerful attack is robbed of much of its bite.

Tomo: <-10 EP>
Suddenly, after a good rest, Arbiter wakes up. Time to get back into butt-kicking mode! Tomo extends his feelers and Tickles Arbiter further, causing a further drop in offensive and defensive prowess. Nonetheless, Arbiter plays it smart by avoiding physical attacks altogether. His thin wings kick up one hell of a gale and the Bug Buzz blows Tomo backward.

While Arbiter finds himself all locked up thanks to pesky Paralysis, Tomo goes for a Poison Powder.

Tomo fights to not get tossed back by the resulting gale, but once more he goes into tumbleweed mode. There there, little guy.

Tomo: <-16 HP; -4 EP>
Things are not looking good for poor Tomo. As a last-ditch effort to perhaps make it through the round, he throws up a shining green barrier to ward off attacks. However, Protect simply is not perfect and Arbiter seems to have figured out a way to get around the defensive stratagem. Speeding forth, he deftly Feints around the shield and lashes out with a quick physical strike. The attack lands, but Arbiter’s Attack stat is so lousy at this point the move barely leaves a mark.
Arbiter: <-2 EP>
Tomo: <-1 HP; -8 EP>
Tomo closes his eyes and draws upon a secret wealth of power deep within him. He unleashes the energy blast at Arbiter and, though it does reasonable damage, the real reason it causes the Tangela to jump for joy is the fact that the move somehow lulls Arbiter back into a deep sleep. The Scizor slumps over before he can finish off his foe, snoring loudly.

Tomo is pulled back from the edge of defeat, though only by a little <+3 HP>, as Arbiter’s health is lightly drained <-3 HP>.
