Default State Initiatives and Other Stuff, 2012 Election

Since some fuckwits can't be civil, I'm making a new thread.

Colorado and Washington legalized recreational marijuana. Maryland and Maine legalized same-sex marriage.

Discuss this and whatever other initiatives you had in your state.

Roy and DS, do not bring up the Presidential part of the election.

Maryland and Maine made the right decision. New York, as you know, already legalized it a while ago. You may find this funny, but there were LOTS of businesses here in NYC that couldn't have been happier when gay marriages were legalized.

Florists, jewelers, caterers, folks who run convention halls; just to name a few. With them able to legally marry, EVERY business that could contribute to a wedding had more business.

That's one way that Democrat ideas help businesses. There are many more

While not directly related to the 2012 election, it is political, and that is that Hostess has now gone out of business. The Bakers Union was not able to accept reality, and as such the company is now going completely out of business and is now selling off his assets.

May we get a moment of silence as life's little Twinkee gauge makes it's way toward empty.

We're better off without Twinkees. They don't even taste as good as they used to.

Now if we can only get other workers who produce bad things to strike. Like tobacco farmers, reality show judges, and the evil geniuses behind bottled water.

I mean seriously, who's bright idea was it to take something that you could get free from a tap and make it more expensive than beer??

Are the 18,000 people now out of work better off?

If a greedy union wants to strike in times like this, I have no sympathy for them. Only an idiot would strike with the economy the way it is.

I said the same thing about the Verizon strike and every other strike that's happened in the past four years. Morons, all of them. They were lucky they had a job, and they shouldn't have risked it.

You know, because it's impossible for companies to exploit their workers in a time of economic downturn.

Well, it seems that Hostess is also paying the price, not just their workers.

Still, I'm not going to cry now that I can't buy Twinkees and all those other pure-sugar snacks anymore. We're better off without them.

I completely agree with you. Unions were created to protect workers when business were being unreasonable and unfair, but Hostess was doing its best to not eliminate jobs while trying to get its finances straight.

Congratulations picketing workers. You protested yourself out of a job.

I that case, on a happier note, Hostess may not have to close its doors after all. They and the union have apparently agreed to a deal that will prevent liquidation.

    I love you, Guston

Gee, I hope Hostess is saved by someone/some business, although they don't make anything I can personally eat...

I'm tempted to buy a box of Twinkees at the store tomorrow just so I can put them in a box, seal that box in a box, seal THAT box in a box, and then put that last box someplace safe for many years until a future time when I can put it on eBay as the last unopened box of Twinkee$ in the world.
