Default Sins of the Blood (mature) - Chapter 2 Up!

This will be my first ever actual Fic. I tried a little YuGiOh battle scene a few months back but that wasnt anything to shout about lol.
Before i start this however id just like to point out that this was an RPG way back when and creative Credit goes to everyone who took part, for their input, ideas, story twists and charachters. This includes Bulbasaur 4, Outlaw JT, Asylynne and Rudy to name a few and im aware there were more and i owe each and every one of them for one of the best RPG's i took part in.
I always wanted to finish this story and will be borrowing heavily from the RPG (as far as it got) for the general plotlines though obviously there will be some rewriting (since i never saved a copy and its now deleted from the site so im going from memory ). If anyone who took part has a problem with me using what is essentially their material then let me know.

Dont expect an epic btw, ive never been a 'big post writer' lol.

    Sins of the Blood
Chapter 1 - The Hunt Begins

The night was quiet. The occasional rustling of discarded papers disturbed by the wind and the dull thud of a local nightclub the only thing to be heard.

The silence was broken as the doors of the nightclub opened and a young woman stumbled out, crashing into the bouncer laughing with a drunken slur. A man followed her out, his dark trousers and jacket contrasting against her loose silvery dress.

She span on her heels and a grin slowly spread on her face as she remembered he was coming out with her.

"So your place or mine?" she spoke softly. Trying to sound seductive but the inebriation made it difficult.

"I have a better idea," he said with a low growl and took her hand, leading her down the street before quickly moving into a dark alley.

"Ooh Impatient i see," she whispered as she was pressed against the alley wall and their hands began to roam. She gasped as his lips met her neckline and she tensed as he stopped.

"Listen," he said as he stood up straight and looked around. A quiet rustling noise could be heard somewhere further down the alley and he squinted to look into the darkness. He could see a shape moving but couldn't quite see what.

As if on cue the clouds above seemingly parted, allowing the slightest beam of moonlight enter the alley. The light revealed another couple. They each had their heads resting on each others shoulders and he realised they had stumbled on another couple who had the same idea he had.
Before he could turn to suggest a change of location to his date however the woman looked up and locked eyes with him, as if only just noticing anyone else's presence. She was pale and gasping for breath. His head remained where it was though he could see it was more at her throat than on her shoulder.

"Help me," she gasped before her eyes closed again and she slumped into her partner.

"What the he....," he began but he never got to finish the last word. Quicker than he could have predicted he felt something sharp at his own throat. He turned only quick enough to catch a glimpse of his dates dark hair against the side of his cheek before she bit down and punctured his jugular. He tried to struggle but her arms were strong, too strong to be normal and too strong to fight against. He now realised too late what had been happening to the other girl, and now it was happening to him.

The she-devil at his neck released her lips for a moment, gasping at the thrill of the kill.

"You males are far too easy," she purred, giving a glance and a wink to the other Vampire down the alley. He smiled back at her and approached, looking at the wound in the man's neck. As she bit back down to finish him off.

    "Bon appetit," he smiled.

Gav sighed as he closed his locker. His shift had just ended and he headed to the shower throwing off the stained medical smock. Working with the general public was a fun enough job but Sundays were always the worst as it meant dealing with those that had gotten a little too enthusiastic with the alcohol and other substances over the weekend. One young man had come in reeking of a fine mix of alcohol, urine and vomit.

As he helped the drunk from reception to one of the examination rooms the patient had found it a good time to once again empty his stomach and the resulting mess was only the beginning of Gav's day. Now it was just after 3pm as he washed away the remaining traces of the odour.
Drying off and returning to his locker he pulled out his clothes and got changed.

He cocked his head. There was a soft scratching sound coming from somewhere but it was so faint he paid it no mind and went back to getting dressed. The soft giggling sound that followed did catch his attention however and he looked around. There was a scent in the air. Flowers....at least something close to it and the giggling got louder. The noise grew louder still and seemed to be coming from above him. He looked up to see the ventilation shaft cover swinging on its hinge and a soft feline face smiling down at him.

A creature of humanoid proportions, but most definitely not human slid slowly from the vent and landed on her feet in front of him.

She, for it was definitely a female, eyed him with a predatory grin on its face. Her green eyes gazed right through him. With his jaw hanging wide open he looked her up and down, her blazing orange fur topped off with a deep red hairstyle and ponytail that her large ears poked up through. Her tail swung lazily behind her.

"How ya doin" she asked giggling again.

"Sakea!" he almost shouted, looking around panicked "You shouldn't be here"

"Oh sorry" she said as she looked around. She seemed to concentrate and her feline features regressed into a perfect human form.

"I forgot, been a while since I've been in the city" She raised a hand to brush her long red hair from her eyes and smiled again.

"I don't mean that" he said. "Don't you know this is the men's room, no females allowed!"

Her grin grew wider "I know, ive been waiting for you for a while but i didn't know where to look. I figured you'd come in here sooner or later" She paused and seemed to look into the distance.

"You know, human males look really funny, i mean for one thing...."

His eyes bugged and he cut in fast changing her line of thought. "Why are you here, its a fair trip from the clan".

She pouted and looked hurt "What sort of greeting is that for your oldest friend?" she asked.
He smiled, beginning to calm down and his nose wrinkled as he caught that scent again....it was coming from Sakea.

"Perfume?" he asked and flashed his cheesiest grin as he pulled on his shirt and closed his locker.

"Since when did you decide to join in with the human culture?"

She punched his arm playfully. "I just thought id try a few things" she smiled as she sat on the bench beside him. "Taking after my inspiration that's all"

He looked at her with a confused look and pointed to himself. She nodded slowly
"A number of students have been like that lately, 'The wanderer' living amongst the humans. Besides i missed you"

He tied his laces as she watched curiously and he grabbed his bag.
"You eaten yet?" he asked her.

She shook her head "I haven't had chance to hunt yet"

A grin spread across his face and he laughed, almost forgetting the old ways. "Don't worry.." he said after receiving another playful punch, "..the advantage of having a job is you don't need to hunt"

She shrugged "so...how do they say it?" she asked before her eyes lit up as she remembered what she was after "..You buying?"

He sighed and nodded "You'll have to head out the way you came though, wont look too good a good looking girl like yourself coming out of here with me. Meet me outside the main entrance in about five minutes OK"

She blushed at the complement but it faded under her fur as her features grew feline again. She span and leapt nimbly up into the Vent.

"See you in five" she called back as she vanished into the dark vent.

He jumped up and playfully batted the tip of her tail that hadn't disappeared. Closing the vent behind her and gathering up his things he made his way to clock off before heading out.

Gav stepped out into the fresh air, breathing deeply now he was away from the stench. He saw Sakea leaning back against the wall. She had changed back to her human form once more and was watching a couple of the junior med students that were talking and stealing occasional glances at her.

"Checking you out" he said as he approached. She turned and looked at him puzzled.

"That's what their doing, checking you out. They think your attractive"

A smug smile was on her face. She was trying not to show it but she knew she liked getting attention.

"Not half bad for humans" she teased, keeping her voice low so only the two of them could hear. "But they'd probably scream and run if they knew what i really was"

"Actually knowing those guys that would only get them more interested" Gav added as he looked at the young men and caught a couple of envious glares as Sakea turned and began to walk towards the street.

"Well it makes no difference, i don't go for guys that aren't even my species" she sniffed as she seemed to strut out onto the side walk, her stride full of confidence and even he could feel the eyes of the guys watching her go.

They chatted for a while, catching up as they walked to a small restaurant. Gav knew the place well as it was one of his favourite places to eat. It was mainly a human diner but if you had 'membership' there was a reserved menu for the less common customer.

The pair went through into the back room and noticed that the customers in this section were not your normal sort, the majority weren't human though there were a couple. Slayers, Mages and those that could once have been called human mixed with those that fell under the loose term 'Daemons' which basically covered anything that was born as neither human or Animal. Of course anyone simply looking through the door into the back wouldn't know any different but a nose knows and Sakea's was sampling the air as they passed each table.

They sat in a small booth in the corner and ordered.

A lone figure strode through a long dark tunnel. It wound its way deep underground, lit only by occasional torches which burned in ornate sconce's. Something was wrapped around his hand which lead back to something large that he dragged behind him. He neared the end of the corridor and he shook his head removing the slight smile from his face and viciously kicked at the doorway before him. Both doors swung open, threatening to come free of their hinges and he strode purposefully in, his face like thunder and his voice boomed to match.

"Who's in charge here!" he bellowed and looked around the room. Eyeing each face that turned to look at him.

The room he had entered was simple. Carved out into a plain round dome lit by the same style torches as in the tunnel it was filled mostly by a great circular table, a dozen creatures of varying shapes, sizes and species sat around it.

"I am..." bellowed back a voice with just as much authority and a hulking form stood at the far end of the table. Its skin was heavy and thick like armour and at first glance more than resembled a Rhino. "...and i Demand to know why you dare intrude on our council Vampire!"

"You demand of me?" growled the stranger with malice in his voice. His grip tightened and he flung his arm forward, throwing something large across the room which landed and came to rest with a thud in the centre of the table. The light in the room revealed it to be a body and despite the damage done to it, and the large wound in its neck it was obviously that of a young girl.
The assembled council looked at the corpse before them solemnly.

    "A hunter?" asked the Rhino-creature.

"Oh don't act innocent with me Graal" said the vampire.

"I promise you Lord Ashram, we knew nothing of this" panicked Graal, his bluster seemingly vanished. "The truce between the Daemon and the Vampire has stood for centuries, why would we risk it after so long?"

Ashram, lord of the Vampire nation straightened, staring down the much larger form of Graal.

"You know we vastly outnumber you?" asked Ashram. Graal Nodded.

"You know you could never win an all out war?" asked Ashram. Graal once again nodded.

"Then learn to control your hunters or the next example i make.."Ashram passed his Gaze over each and every member of the Daemon council "..will be of each and every one of you"

"But you know as well as i do there are rogue elements that don't operate with our permission" begged Graal.

Ashram smiled shaking his head. "Then that is a problem you must deal with, for your sake"

He turned on his heel and strode slowly out if his hall. His warning delivered.

'Like puppets on a string' he thought to himself as he left.

There was only one thought on Graals mind as Ashram left, and it wasn't a nice one.

After their meal Gav and Sakea headed back to his apartment. It was getting quite late in the day now, the sun would soon be setting and there were things to prepare.

"Your going soft" she simply said as she entered "Living in a luxury home, buying food rather than hunting it" She looked him square in the face, her eyes burning into him.

He looked around. Luxury wouldn't have been a word he would use to describe this place but compared to the cave and forest background of the clan he could see what she meant.

"So you think ive lost my edge?" he said, a small growl present in his voice.

"I do" she said in reply "Living among humans has made you weak" she matched his growl with one of her own.

He looked at her and remembered the old times. He had missed this. Sakea regularly used to challenge him, testing his abilities to keep him sharp as they were growing up.

He smiled brightly. "I really have missed you" the growl completely gone from his voice.

She raised one eyebrow and shifted her feet. At that moment his hand flashed out, grabbed her wrist and twisted. He turned and she was effortlessly flipped over onto the couch.

"Looks like im not the one who's gone soft" he said with a wink. She growled and threw a cushion at him.

"How long you planning on staying?" he called out as he headed to his bedroom to change.

"Well that's the thing" she began "I'm thinking of setting up like you" her head peeked around the doorway. She was back in her Daemon form. She had always preffered to be herself than disguised.

"If its OK id like to stay here while i can get a job and a home of my own"

He nodded. It was well known that Sakea had never been too bothered about the human life but it seemed something had changed.

"So that explains the perfume" he teased her, "sure you can stay here as long as you want, there's another bedroom there behind you, its yours"

She ran in and grabbed him in a hug. In her Daemon form her strength advantage was overwhelming but thankfully she loosened her grip.

"I knew i could count on you" she beamed and seemed to bounce back out of the room to look at her own new room.

"To be honest" he called after her "it will be nice to have some company. Its a lonely life when you have secrets"

She came back into the room as he finished changing and walked over to the window.

"You ready?" he asked and she nodded as she finished sheathing a pair of silver daggers.

Closing his eyes he concentrated, releasing his own disguise as his features slowly grew more feline. Bones and muscle realigning themselves, teeth and Claws growing out. Jet black fur growing over his body as a tail protruded through the hole in his jeans.

He reopened his eyes and once human eyes were now replaced by feline slits though they still held their blue colour. Being a human was fine but it was always better to be himself. Even the name 'Gav' was part of his disguise. His real name, and the one he used in this form was Keruga.

"Time to see the city" she giggled and he smiled back at her before they both leapt from the window and landed on the rooftop across the street and moving off into the darkness.

    Sins of the Blood
    Chapter 2

The full moon hung ominously in the sky. A red hue cast down from it over the city buildings far below, each one underlit from the streetlights below resembling someone holding a torch under their face while telling some scary story.
On the roof of one of the larger buildings a soft whining could be heard. The scrape of metal on stone as a large skylight door was slowly opening like some ominous eye to look at the blood-stained moon.
Behind this eye stood two figures in the center of a large circular chamber.
A dozen more figures surrounded them around the edge of the room. Only one of the figures present was not human, at least not originally, though to look around you wouldnt have guessed. The numbers around the room were chained and shackled in place, wearing nothing but mere rags to hide their modesty. Their bodies floating inches from the floor, writhing in pain.
Marks, curses, prayers and emblems were carved into their flesh and long strips of thin paper hung from points on their bodies. Some from their skulls, some covered their eyes, others were placed over their hearts, all were affixed to their flesh with seals that had once been hot wax and stamped with the mark of the vampire.
The two men in the center looked around solemnly before the taller of the two sighed and turned to his companion.

"Well Matthias, what do you think?"
Matthias was an old yet dignified man. His wizened eyes took in the scene around him trying to work out what he was surrounded by.
"Lord Ashram.." he spoke to the man before him "..what is this?"

"This.." said Ashram keeping his voice low in respect "..is the final resting place of the vampire lords, a Council of their experience so to speak"

Matthias looked confused for a moment pondering what he had been told.
"But i thought Vampire bodies turn to dust when they die"
"They do, but their spirits are set free. It happens to all Vampires infact however only the lords are worthy of this honour. Their bodies may be gone however they can still pass on their knowledge and experience to those that follow"

"So what am i seeing here?" asked Matthias counting the figures around the room "..are these the past 12 vampire lords?"
"Thats exactly what it is" smiled Ashram. "The carvings in the skin summon the spirit to the host body, for that is what these are, Spirithosts, while the paper seals prevent the spirit from leaving the body"
    "And the chains?"
"Well lets just say not all the Lords are eager to be cooped up together" said Ashram with a wry smile.

    Matthias suddenly grew excited.
"Is my lord Draconus here?" he asked, almost giddily.
Ashram smiled and looked down at the old man.
"He will be soon, infact we plan to summon him this very night, thats why you were asked here. You were his familiar. The highest of the humans in his command, you even held sway over the lower ranked vamires, his closest friend"

"And if there is anything i can do to help his summoning.." began the old man before Ashram raised his hand to silence him.
"..there is indeed a great part you can play. Did you never wonder why it was that the lords keep humans so close, allowing one to become their confidant?"

He didnt wait for an answer and an almost imperceptible nod brought five hooded figures from the shadows around the room.
Matthias felt himself grabbed by strong hands, hands from men he hadnt even realised were there as he was dragged over to one of the empty spaces around the room.

"It has been almost a month since Draconus was killed, we have had to wait for the blood moon to begin the cermony"
"My lord please!" begged Matthias but the men were still shackling him to the floor
"Matthias please dont beg" Ashram said softly "you may not have known this but from the time your master chose you this was always your true purpose. You are to be his spirits vessel, as were all these humans here when they were picked as familiars"

The old man struggled as he was stripped to the waist and the robed figures produced blades from under their robes.
The doors to the chamber closed ominously and the mans screams for mercy were suddenly silenced to the outside world.

Sakea stretched herself out as she landed on the roof of a club. It had been a while since she had run free like this and then it had never been in the city. Ferans always did like room to move and the underground lairs of the Daemon races were so confining.
Keruga was with her, on the other side of the street sniffing the air. She knew this was his territory and he knew it much better than her though she too had picked up a scent of something above the strange scents of the city and she knew it was close.

She looked down into the street below and saw a woman running. She was wearing a white dress and despite looking very young her hair was the same brilliant white. She seemed panicked and her feet were bare. She looked behind her down the street and ducked into an ally, disappearing into the shadows.
Sakea was curious and she could see Keruga looking down into the ally she had run into but it didnt look like anything suspicious untill she saw the two men walking down the street.

They may have looked innocent enough though thankfully Sakea wasnt using her eyes, instead it was her nose that had their scent and it wrinkled in disgust as she picked up the scent of vampires.
Sure enough as they reached the allyway they both ducked in, obviously hunting the young woman.
She looked up at Keruga who was already on the edge of the building waiting to drop down so she swiftly dropped down to the street below and moved across the street unseen, quietly blending into the shadows of the alley.
She could see the girl cowering at one end, cursing her luck at running into a dead end and screaming at the two men who now had her cornered.

They took a step forward and Sakea saw a dark shape drop down just infront of the vampires. It crouched low as they stopped and backed up startled.
Keruga then stood up to his full height though keeping his back hunched and his teeth and claws on dipslay, growling threateningly at them.

"Always one for the theatrics" she whispered to herself and moved out of her hiding spot, leaping high and grabbing a fire escape rail, hanging just above their targets.
"Now boys" she said playfully "teaming up on a girl just aint nice"

She leapt back as one of them swung at her, shocked by her appearance above them and that was the trigger Keruga needed. Launching himself with a kick into one of the vamps while Sakea drew her daggers and went after the second.

The fight hadnt lasted long. It rarely did when there was more than one vampire. Vampires by nature hunted alone, or at least made sure there was enough prey to go around. This one girl would not have sustained them both so chances are these were 'newbies'. Freshly turned vampires just learning the ropes.
The two Ferans, after finishing off their foes turned to look at the woman who didnt seem any less scared though if you had the senses of a Feran you would swear she smelt as if she were more annoyed.

"Come on then" she yelled sounding defiant "now you eliminated the competition you can kill me instead!"
Both Sakea and Keruga looked at each other and put away their weapons, trying to look unthreatening.
"Thats not what we do" said Keruga softly.
"Yeah.." chimed in Sakea. "We kill Vamps, not humans"

She seemed taken aback by that statement though still looked at the pair warily and Sakea noticed she had remarkable eyes. Her iris's seemed to have a silver shine to them, almost as if mirrored.
There was also a scent in the air. It was strange, something about it wasnt right. She wasnt vampire but....Sakea couldnt quite place it.

She was about to ask when a side door in the alley opened. The two Ferans leapt up vertically onto the fire escape as a drunken couple emerged, laughing and joking with each other. They headed out of the ally and the young girl in white followed them out and ran in the opposite direction once she reached the street.

"Should we follow her?" asked Sakea.
Keruga dropped down to the alley and moved to the exit, watching her go before she disappeared around another corner.
"Nah, we cant act bodyguard to one girl when this kinda thing is happening all over the city. Besides, we only have an hour or two till dawn. We should head back soon."

(Credit for 'the girl in white' to B4 though ive altered her a little, and introducing 2 more guys in the next chapter)
