Battle on Osloki Island! RL vs. Ash (ref: Oslo)

It's been a couple of years since I've done one of these, so...

Welcome to Osloki Island!

You've found your way to the shore of Osloki Island, an uncharted speck of land in the middle of French Polynesia. (Or wherever the Pokemon equivalent of French Polynesia might be.) In the middle of the beach there sits a diminutive tiki god named Osloki who watches over this island as its protector. Golly, what a wonderful place for a battle!

During the battle, you can hit Osloki with any damage-dealing attack as often as you wish and he will accept this attack as a blessing. Osloki will keep track of his blessings with a damage meter and, when he has been hit for 50 HP, he will come to life. If you were quick enough to offer Osloki the blessing that brought him to 50 HP, he will help you out by placing a curse upon your opponent. This curse might manifest itself in several different ways: damage, a status, decreased stats or something else nasty (or quite likely some sort of mix of the above).

However, there's another catch: Osloki is a fiercely vain deity. If your team fails to offer Osloki a blessing at least once every ten actions, then his wrath will be upon you. You've been warned. As well, because Osloki is so vain, he refuses to be blessed by any attack used to damage an opposing Pokemon. For example, if you try to Earthquake Osloki and your opponent in one fell swoop, Osloki won't accept the Earthquake as a blessing. No hitting two birds with one stone.

This battle will be a six on six five on five, one at a time, abilities on, 40 HP damage cap, one week DQ, no swapping (even with Baton Pass, U-turn, etc.) and I'm banning non-damaging healing moves. Also, I'm going to try something different with the way the Pokemon are released. The two opponents will PM me their six five Pokemon along with their choice of which one will come out first and those six five Pokemon will be locked into battle. I'll list them in the OP so that both trainers can see all twelve ten Pokemon and from that point on they can be released in any order. Essentially, this just means that you'll be able to see what Pokemon your opponent has in reserve so you can strategize accordingly. Let me know if anything needs to be clarified.

Salutations and welcome to Osloki Island! Today on this golden beach a battle will occur between two rough-and-tumble ASB fighters. On one side we have RL with his sagely Slowking while on the other we have Ash and his loyal Lucario. Overlooking this battle is the one and only Osloki, who remains stiff and still and completely immobile... for now.

'Kay, no more preamble. Let the battle commence!

Ricario is the first to move, putting on an impromptu performance of Swan Lake. As he pirouettes, Prospero performs a magic trick that results in a white veil of energy draping itself around him. Ooh. Ahh. Magicks.

Prospero: <-4 EP; Sgd>
Ricario: <-4 EP; +2 Att>

Prospero prepares to slam his tail hard against the ground, but Ricario nails him with a Sky Uppercut before he can even strike. Ricario and Prospero take off into the sky like rockets, and while Ricario is able to manage a graceful landing... Prospero isn't so lucky. The Slowking lands hard on his back in the shallow surf. Yowch. When he finally pulls himself back up, he trudges back toward Ricario and lashes out at him with an Earthquake. Osloki feels the tremors but recognizes that the attack is also being used to strike Ricario and therefore doesn't accept it as a blessing.

Ricario: <-15 HP; -7 EP>

Ricario charges up a Shadow Ball as Prospero breathes a steady stream of orange-gold flames. Ricario raises the Shadow Ball protectively and the flames are resorbed into the darkness; however, the fire's strength is nullified, so the Shadow Ball isn't powered up. That said, Prospero still takes one hell of a beating from it. Once again, the Slowking is thrown onto his back in a daze. So much for a relaxing day at the beach.

Rockin' a slight advantage, Ricario keeps up the heat. His paws blossom with spectral energy as he stalks toward Prospero, poised to strike. With an upswell of vigour, Ricario tears into the Good King Bubblegum with a powerful Shadow Claw. Winc,g Prospero grabs ahold of his opponent's outstretched arm, extends a foot and subsequently trips Ricario. The jackal is thrown to the ground. Well, so much for that advantage.

Ricario goes for a repeat performance, pulling himself up before Shadow Clawing Prospero to his widdle heart's content. At such a close range, even a wildly inaccurate move like DynamicPunch is almost a surefire hit. Ricario takes Prospero's fist to the gut and suffers so much pain that he's thrust into a fit of disorientation.

Though he's Confused, Ricario still manages to hold onto enough lucidity to sense what his opponent is going to do next. Preempting Prospero's Water Pulse, Ricario fires off that exact same move except with extra power. However, though he tries to direct such an attack at Osloki, the psychic connection prevents him from shifting his focus and therefore Prospero ends up the unwitting victim of the watery attack. Unfazed, Prospero targets Osloki with a Water Pulse of his own. Osloki's eyes shine purple momentarily as he accepts the blessing.

Prospero begins to bristle with electric current but Ricario's all like, pffsh, ain't nobody gonna electrify me. Coping quite well with his Confusion, Ricario cuts through the sand in a mad dash and ducks past Prospero's Thunder Wave. He approaches Osloki and tackles the wooden tiki, offering it a blessing. Osloki's eyes shine purple before going dim once more. Blessing accepted.

Confusion finally gets the best of Ricario. The Lucario begins gnawing on his arm while Prospero, unhindered, shoots off a crackling gout of flames. The heat swells around Ricario and puts his mind at ease while also toasting his buns off.

Both Pokemon close their eyes and enter meditative stances. Prospero looks ahead into the future and glimpses a powerful strike while Ricario allows his exhaustion to dissipate.

Let Lucario get close for a Shadow Claw and Counter it, now Dig underground, as Lucario hasn't been given a substitution for what happens then. Burrow back up near Osolki and hit the diminutive island god with a Body Slam

Our lovely little island battle continues as Prospero holds his ground and waits for his opponent to approach. Ricario, whose trainer did not tell him to get close, fires off a black swell of energy that clobbers the bubblegum monarch right in the face. Prospero is spared the arm-flailing embarrassment of attempting to Counter a ranged strike: his body goes rigid as flinch hax take hold.

With his opponent still at a distance, Ricario shoots off another Dark Pulse. Prospero gets to work and begins Digging up a storm, vanishing beneath the sand a split-second before the attack can land. Ricario rolls his eyes... and is promptly blasted by a burst of Psychic energy that comes from absolutely nowhere. Ricario blinks and looks around. The hell?

Prospero emerges from the sand on the other side of the field near Osloki. He leaps out of the earth and, with a fluid motion, smacks the tiki god hard in the gut. Osloki's eyes flash to signify the acceptance of the blessing. Ricario, meanwhile, catches Prospero unawares with a third Dark Pulse, narrowing the health gap between them.

With Ricario so close to defeat, Prospero knows his work is almost done. Waving his arms in the air, he summons a few stray blades of grass to rise up out of the sand and creep toward Ricario. The jackal's legs begin to blossom with heat as he kicks, kicks and kicks again at the encroaching florae. The grass burns away to cinders. Yay, beach bonfire!

Ricario gets his Psychic powers ready and prepares to use them to counter an impending Avalanche. However, since Prospero was instructed only to use Avalanche if he's been attacked already, which he hasn't, the Slowking begins slamming his tail hard against the sand. Tremors surge through the ground and destabilize Ricario's footing, causing him to shake about. Ricario hoists Prospero in the air, but the quaking ground makes it impossible for him to launch the Sloking the full fifty feet. However, as Ricario slams Prospero against the earth, it still does a hefty bit of damage.

Ricario: <-9 HP; -7 EP; -1 Spd>

Ricario begins charging up a Shadow Ball to eat up Prospero's Flamethrower. However, since Prospero has seen this tactic before, he's smart enough to know how to arc the flames so that some of them, at least, don't get sucked up by the swirling back sphere. Struck for minor damage, Ricario falls, knocked out by the few flames that managed to hit him. Fortunately, he also tossing the Shadow Ball as he drops. The ball connects with Prospero and lowers the Slowking's Special Defence by a hair.

EDIT: Okay, I revised the reffing. Try to phrase your commands clearly in order to eliminate ambiguity. An "either/or" situation needs to be spelled out as such. I can't promise I'll be so lenient next time.

I use munch I have munch use shock wave then hit osloki with a shock wave and if pros is still up use a shadow ball if it tries a status move or a trump card then dodge by rock climbing into osloki, canceling the 2nd action entirely, and just shock waveX2 after it

Prospero, this has a been a good round, lets go out with a bang. Since Munchlax is focusing his first attack on Osloki, this leaves him wide open for you to strike with Focus Punch. If you still have energy left, then use an Endure and Brick Break combo to resist the electric attacks and land one last blow before dropping out.

So it was, I guess I wasn't paying attention enough. I'll send out Hanzo Hattori, my samurai Gallade.

Hanzo, regardless of what Munch tries to do, block any attack he tries to hit Osloki with. If it's a projectile, get in front of it and use Protect, if it's anything else interrupt it with Vacuum Wave

Otherwise, hit him with Brick Break followed by Psycho Cut

After a good fight, Prospero is returned to his Pokeball which leaves RL to contemplate his next selection. After a moment, he summons a new Pokemon to the field, and with a burst of light a Gallade materializes. Rubbing its scythes together aggressively, Hanzo leaps in front of Osloki and forms a Protective bubble that contains both himself and the statue within its perimeter. Munch releases a shocking blast of electricity that sizzles against the Protect, doing nothing.

At that moment, Osloki's eyes flash red. Munch winces as she's struck in the chest with an invisible projectile that does significant damage. Moreover, her body goes rigid as Paralysis sets in.

You have been cursed.

Hanzo: <-8 EP>
Munch: <-10 HP; -4 EP; Par>

Munch grimaces. Friggin' tiki god. Friggin' Gallade. She tries to bat her long, luxurious Munchlax lashes at Hanzo in a seductive manner, but Paralysis sets in and renders this attempt useless. She's therefore a sitting duck as Hanzo darts in and slams his scythe against Munch's face. Ooh. Yowch.

Munch: <-14 HP; Can't move!>

Fortunately for Munch, motion begins returning to her body... but not before Hanzo lashes out at her with a painful slicing gesture. Rightfully enraged at this point, Munch screws up her face and spits out noxious blob of Toxic goo that slathers Hanzo from head to do. As it osmoses into his skin, he begins to feel... funny.

Hanzo was standing right in front of the statue when he used Protect, which means the statue was contained in Protect's perimeter.

I thought he was just going to get in front of the projectile to try and block it, if I'd known it was supposed to cover the statue I would've used substitute, and as was shown in my reefing post the ref should not assume that one meant for the protect to cover anything other than the pokemon using it, it must be explicitly stated (not to mention the fact that hanzo was just sent out and probably a few yards away from the statue)
