    Default If Pokemon were real...

    would you eat them?

No, it's not that thread, but given the title I picked, I couldn't help but make that reference.

My question is what pokemon would you find where you live. Yeah, this is somewhat inspired my Mikachu's post in the Google Maps Pokemon Challenge thread, where he joked about finding ice-types in his backyard, but I always thought it'd be a cool idea for a topic.

So, if Pokemon were real, and you were an aspiring Pokemon Master living in your part of the real world, what sort of Pokemon would you expect to find?

For me, I'd say Krabby/Kingler would be the obvious ones, since the Chesapeake Bay, which is right down the street from me, is known for its crabs. Also, Wingull/Pellipper, since I live near the water, so there are plenty of seagulls around. It wouldn't be all water-types though, Deerling/Sawsbuck, Zigzagoon, Buneary, and Pachirisu would all be common, since they're similar to the common local wildlife. Rufflet and Braviary would be around but rare, since bald eagles have been seen around here, but are a rare sight. Another rare one would be Lapras, since the Chesapeake Bay is also known for having its own Nessie-like sea monster named Chessie, who very well could be a Lapras in real life, you never know.

I feel like Shellder and Cloyster, Clauncher and Clawitzer, and of course Magikarp would be found all around my area. Probably put a "very rare" label on Spheal and Seel, too. Wingull would be found anywhere inland but especially in Johnston where they love to feast on the dump that we call Mt. Trashmore. Speaking of Mt. Trashmore, Grimer, Muk, Garbodor, etc. (typical Poison smorgasbord) would probably be found there... and would probably be home to a Poison-type legendary mon.

In my city proper, there are a LOT of trees, so I think Sudowoodo would be a fun addition

Well because the unit I normally live in is under a floor renovation, I have been evacuated far from the city to the student apartments of the hospital today. Since this is a mental hospital, you are likely to find Psychic Pokemon giving therapy but why not also Chansey, Audino or Wigglytuff. The estate is surrounded by field, where you'd most likely find Grass Types.

I live in the middle of nowhere in northern NJ. There's lots of trees everywhere, dead and alive. Conversely, there's little in the way of civilization or pollution. So I imagine a Pokemonized version of this place would be something like this:

    Common Pokemon:
    Buneary/Lopunny
    Zigzagoon/Linoone
    Sentret/Furret
    Patrat/Watchog
    Fletchling/Fletchinder/Talonflame
    Geodude/Graveler/Golem

    Uncommon Pokemon:
    Deerling/Sawsbuck
    Joltik/Galvantula
    Wurmple/Cascoon/Dustox
    Shuckle

    Rare Pokemon:
    Teddiursa/Ursaring
    Hoothoot/Noctowl
    Phantump/Trevenant
    Silcoon/Beautifly
    Bonsly/Sudowoodo
    Ekans/Arbok
    Dedenne

    Swarms (summer):
    Durant
    Tympole/Palpitoad/Seismitoad
    Ledyba/Ledian

There would also of course be the gamut of pet dog Pokemon (Poochyena and Electrike would probably be the most common, with Eevee and Growlithe being rarer.), but I've only ever seen one cat. Farther up the mountains, there may be Rhyhorn, and possibly even a few Larvitar, as well as their ilk.

I live in Vancouver so there'd be lots of Krabby/Kingler and Wingull/Pelipper. Sometimes I see jellyfish that have washed ashore on the nude beach adjacent to my university campus so we'd have Tentacool/Tentacruel as well. We also have run-of-the-mill birds (Murkrow/Honchkrow, Ducklett/Swanna, Spearow/Fearow) and rodents (Stunky/Skuntank, Zigzagoon/Linoone, Bidoof/Bibarel). Compared to Ontario, Vancouver doesn't have many outrageous insects but we'd get Illumise/Volbeat and Yanma/Yanmega and a few others in the Stanley Park area. We also have a growing coyote population but there isn't a coyote Pokemon so no worries there. That's about it, but if you want you could head a bit further north into the interior and I'm sure you'd find all sorts of deadly shit.

Oh goodness... Well where I live right now is northeastern GA, and going by the animals I see on a regular basis... (And going a bit on location, it's very "green" if that makes any sense, tons of trees and stuff, lol)

    Caterpie/Metapod/Butterfree - Caterpillar/Coccoon/Butterfly
    Beedrill - Hornet/Wasp/Yellow jacket
    Illumise/Volbeat - Lightning bugs
    Shuckle - Worm
    Magikarp - Catfish/Bass
    Murkrow - Crow
    Nidoran - Rabbit
    Spinarak/Ariados - Spider
    Turtwig - Turtle/Tortoise

It's a very "first town" type of environment.
