Well, I'm going to start training my Docile Latios, and I'm trying to figure out which moves are best for him, etc.

    Ok, 1st:

    Luster Purge or Psychic?

I really don't see a difference between these two moves for GameFreak to give Luster Purge only 5PP.

    2nd:

Do EVs work on Legendary Pokemon?

I got the guide from GameFaqs, but that section is not up yet. I'm trying to work on my Latios' HP, SA, and SD EVs, but they don't seem to work... I battled 2 Marill (2 EPs worth each, for the 2 would be 4 HP EPs) w/ Macho Brace (would be 4 HP EPs each, 8 for both), then I used Rare Candy to see if it worked, and it didn't affect Latios HP growth at all... It was a normal 3 HP increase.

I still should have atleast 110 EP left to distribute around, but it doesn't seem to be working. Suggestions and advice?

    Thanks!

Luster Purge is worthless. It's just a weaker Psychic, only with less PP and maybe? a better chance of Sp. Defence reduction. *shrugs* it's my opinion, but you can use Luster Purge if you want. The only good part is the name, which is cooler then Psychic.

Luster Purge has a 50% chance lowering sp. def, while psychic has a 10% chance. I don't think its worth the 5 pp difference.
    Edit: 105 to 10% ( 5 is % without shift)

105 chance... You mean 10.5? Well, if Luster Purge has a 50% chance, I'll go with it...

Now, can anyone help me with the rest?

    Thanks in advance!

The (4 Effort Points == 1 stat point) equation only applies to a L100 pokémon. If your pokémon is of lower level, the stat boost per effort point will be lower. Much lower, at levels like L41. It is not unusual to have the rewards of 8 effort points dropped because of rounding at such levels.

Don't worry; it will make a difference later. Just track the number of pokémon you kill EXACTLY, and you'll know what you'll end up with when the pokémon hits L100.

Be aware that use of Luster Purge will provoke mad switching, because getting your special defense hosed is generally bad when you're facing a special attacker like a Latixs. You can take advantage of this, since you know your opponent will be forced to do it.

Oh, I didn't know that. I thought the 4 EPs + 1 stat thing applied to any level. No wonder, now I have to get another Milotic. Thank you so much for this info, now I can train my Latios.

Another question: How many EPs does Latios (Lvl. 40-50) need to grow +1 on a certain stats. I still have 110 EPs to distribute since I used vitamins.

    Thanks in advance!

Wait.. Let me get this straight... If i try to train for EVs at a lower level, then the computer will misinterpret it and give me lower stat boosts?

THen at which level do you reccommend me train for EVs? I thought that I would train for EVs immediately at level 5 when I hatch a egg.

No, no, no... You just get the full stat boost LATER, rather than right away.

Basically, the stat calculator involves multiplying in your level. If your level is big, the effort points and other factors will be magnified by being multiplied by a big number. If your level is small, the effort points and other factors will be magnified less by being multiplied by a small number. If you raise your level later, you still have the same effort points and other factors, but now they are multiplied by a big number instead of a small number.

At L50, the rule is (8 effort points == 1 stat point), so if you're planning to take it into the L50 battle tower plan accordingly. If you raise that L50 later to L100, the stats will automatically adjust themselves to (4 effort points == 1 stat point) without any further training from you.

Just wondering, how Pokemon gain Effort Points in link battles?

I would go with Psychic. Luster Purge is weaker and has less PP. Anyways, the drop in Special Defense isn't that much. People could switch and return Special Defense to normal until PP is out. Who would sacrifice 5PP and 20 power for a silly 40% better chance for lowering Special Defense.
