You'd need to mean look and Baton Pass to use false swipe yano.
Okay, to some of you guys out there this might seem like old news, but I had a bit of a breakthrough in finding the right pokémon to help catch Latias/Latios.
It's actually quite simple: Gardevoir with Mean Look.
From what I hear, Latias/Latios can flee while they are sleeping. Bugger. So what you need is a Pkmn that has M.L. and a reliable status move, and is also not weak against Psychic.
Here's my theory: Get a pkmn with False Swipe, (Zangoose/Sceptile/Ninjask/etc.) and gradually chip the Lati's HP down through a series of battles. (This will probably take several hundred years.) *sarcasm*
Then, when you have fianlly got it down to one HP get this Gardevoir up front:
@ Quick Claw
Mean Look (via breeding with Dusclops)
Hypnosis
Psychic
filler
Pretty obvious, and it's resistant to all the Lati's damaging moves. Infact, it's so obvious that I'm sure other people here have thought of it, but for you who haven't, maybe it'll help.
...But then there's always the Masterball.
(If I have made some mistake here please let me know, because I am planning to use this strategy for catching Latias in Sapphire. Thanks.)

Not quite sure what you mean.
What I meant was, get, say, Zangoose up front, you encounter a Lati, you use False Swipe, it runs away, you save. Process repeats until the Lati has only 1 HP left. No M.L. necessary. Then get Gardevoir up to Mean Look and put it to sleep. I used this method to catch the bolting trio in my Gold Pak.
OR, do the Latis always run away before you can hit them? In which case it would only be possible to catch it with the darn Masterball.![]()

Omg! Just put Gardevior up front! Use Mean Look and then Chip it away with false swipe! Thats dumb because its hard to encounter again...and again...
Yes, they run on the first turn if you do anything.
Gardevoir is pretty fast, so it doesn't need Quick Claw. Make sure speed is over 100. You do the False Swiping in more than one battle. How about Dream Eater on that last slot?
Okay, are you guys not getting me, or am I being stupid?
(probably me stupid)
Conn, I am assuming that what you mean by 'they run on the first turn' means they run on their first turn, so you could hit them, once, if your poke is faster, and then they run away. End of battle. Yes? If they are faster, then they run away before you attack, (am I right so far?)
If this is wrong then technically hitting them would be impossible, and the Mean Look Gardevoir would never work, and the only way to catch them is via Masterball. And I believe people have done it without, or was I wrong?
PopCoRn, is your problem the fact that you would have to encounter it roughly twenty times before it's ready to catch? I can definitely understand that, but please don't take it out on me.
So this method I am proposing is a lot of work, and takes a long time. Sorry if you don't like it, I was just pleased with myself for thinking up a poke that could put them to sleep and make'em stay, and maybe other people could benifit from it.
Sorry if you think this is dumb, but if you think it is impossible, could you just say so? I REALLY don't want a flame war to start up here.

Yeah, I was gonna put Deam Eater there myself.Originally posted by Ultimate Pikachu

The fact is that i DONT want to find it 20 times before its ready to catch and how is that taking it out on you?PopCoRn, is your problem the fact that you would have to encounter it roughly twenty times before it's ready to catch? All that work?
I just use the Master Ball!
why not just use a Wobbufett?
yes, wobboffet's Shadow Tag makes it impossible 4 them to run away(that's there ability). And they only have sp. attk, so mirror coat away!
