A question to Fic Writer Community of TPM

I realize that this question may be out of line, but its been bugging me. If I seem to be overstepping any boundaries I may have not seen, please feel free to delete or close this post/topic.

Why the hell are fics with explcit depictions of sexual intercourse called lemons?

Ok ok, forgive me if that goes against the rules of the board or just this particular one, but this thing has been plaguing my mind for quite a bit. If any of the writers here on TPM know why, please indulge a person's insaitiable cuiriousity.

Becuase they leave a sour taste in your mouth... most of the time.

Um because there is TV for that, these are fanfics, not novels, and most writers are between 10-18, and readers are of the certain age where they just discuss it at school. I am not sure about other people here, but I would rather read a fic where a kid becomes a champion than a person gets a special someone and gets it on. Also pokemon is rated E, everyone, now there are fics out there that have bloody scenes, death scenes, and I think most like their without sex scenes.

Also with your last comment, Prof. JB Wolf, is something you can't avoid, you are somewhat calling a debate, and what is an arguement with one side

Oz, okay, his connection between sex and lemons, I don't htink he are talking about mixing the two, but more of metaphor meaning, if a fic has sexual intercourse it would sour the readers like a lemon would if you at one raw.

I am against it, If I wanted to read about that I would think this would be the second to last place I would read stuff about it.

...I don't think there's a term for that. In any case, why would you worry? If it isn't seen, it doesn't matter (it may still be implied, but it's not seen/described so I doubt there's anything wrong there).

It's called a lime. And, going by the citrus theme, make-out scenes should be referred to as oranges, but they aren't.

Uhm, Powarun, I think you got the wrong point, he was only asking a question not going for a debate between the relationship between lemon and porn or should it be allowed or whatever. I was just saying because your answer:

Other than that, I think Mewfour pretty much got it right, tis because of the sour taste they leave in your mouth. Although I didn't knwo about the Lime stuff and the Orange? XD Funny, they *should* be called like that, just for kicks.
