Yes, it'll work but your only real problem unless you're fluent is that its all in Japanese. The GBA is no problem but the GC GB Player I'm not sure about.

Why not just buy the English version?

Game Boy Advanced games are multi-regional therefore you can play them on your game boy.
A question though, why the japanese version? O_o

I play my english Ruby version without any problems on my japanese Gamecube Gameboy Player.
So, I am sure it works the other way around in your case.

as everyone has already stated, your english gameboy can infact play a japanese import. However in the case of your gamecube i'm not sure you may require a freeloader to play a japanese import...

are you thinking of importing a japanese pokemon colloseum to go with the import pkmn sapphire? if that is the case you will need a freeloader to play the pkmn colloseum you would also need a seperate memory card also because if you save a japanese text game saved on a memory card that has saved games which are in english text the memory card automaticlly changes the language to japanese.

However Japanese colloseum may have an option to change to english text, if it does and you save it then im not so sure if it will change the text to japanese.

If im wrong in assuming all of this, then im sorry for waffling on
