Clefable has CP+moonlight
If ya passed it Reflect+Light Screen it could work.
or
Starmie has CP+Recover
+c-ray can help set it up too.
I was wondering if there was any pokemon that can learn Cosmic Power or Amnesia and Iron Defense plus Recover, and has high enough defenses to set it up? Set up CP, Recover, Toxic and an attacking move and... *salivates*. Anyways, does anyone know... can it be done?

and yet both are better off just attacking...
i wouldnt bother trying to use either of those...
Recover is killed by toxic. Better off having rest...
There's Smeargle (once Colosseum comes out), but there's no way he could survive the setup...

Claydol@Chesto Berry/Leftovers
Cosmic Power
Toxic
Rest
Earthquake/Psychic
Remember if you have EQ, you can't hit Flyers and Levitators. if you have Psychic you can't hit Dark types.
Torkoal@Chesto Berry/Leftovers
Curse/Iron Defense
Amnesia
Body Slam/Fire Elemental attack
Rest
If you have Curse, you need a Physical attack. if you have Iron Defense, then use a Fire Attack for a STAB. and rest with Heal. Torkoal is a total tank.
Starmie@Leftovers
Cosmic Power
Toxic
Rest/Recover
Surf
Starmie too, I think it can learn Calm Mind, but I'm not sure.

In particular, be wary of Skarmory, Crobat and Weezing - all are immune to the above set with the Earthquake option, which is enough for me to consider it NOT an option, considering they are all popular (for good reasons).Originally posted by DaBlackBandit

As far as I can recall there is no Poison/Dark or Dark with Immunity that would be unable to be dealt with with Toxic in this set.
Toxic never works vs any Poison type and Psychic is SE vs all of them. They cover each other well.

Too be honest, Leftovers is good enough coverage for all tanks, its toxic that you need to worry about.
Good Tanks IMO.
Swalot@Leftovers
Acid Armour (As effective as Iron Defense)
Amnesia
Sludge Bomb/Ice Beam
Shadow Ball/Toxic/Giga Drain
Is immune to toxic, has decent defenses & is UU (Always a +)
(Similar Move Set can be done with Magcargo & Torkoal except -speed personality & rock slide/Earthuqake (Curse on Torkoal is argueable) + flamethrower in last two slots)
Registeel@Leftovers
Amnesia
Curse/Iron Defense
Earthquake
Rock Slide/Ancient Power/Thunderbolt/Hidden Power *Steel*
Simple, curse is better in the long run, speed - personality when using curse (or using physical & special attacks).
Starmie@Leftovers/Chesto berry
Recover/Rest
Cosmic Power
Surf
Psychic/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/(You get the picture, I prefer Psy)
Recover if you doubt the deadly toxic.
Claydol@Leftovers
Cosmic Power
Rest/Ancient Power
Psychic
Earthquake
Ancient Power if your risky/lucky, Rest if you aint. Speed - Personality.
As you can tell there is a trend in personality that minus's speed. Obviously cos those with gd defense tend to have poor speed (Starmie is my only exception IMO) but his defense is nothing ultra-special like Registeel).
A useful combo for Tanks is Calm Mind/Bulk Up/Curse (Physical/Special Attacks) in one slot & Barrier/Acid Armour/Iron Defense/Amnesia in the next slot. This way you can have decent offense as well as tank defense. As for baton passing to tanks (eg Kingdra, 1 weakness, pass defenses, invincible) the best IMo are
Gorebyss@Leftovers/focus band
Iron Defense
Amnesia
Surf/Agility/Substitute
Baton Pass
or
Mr Mime@Leftovers
Substitute
Calm Mind
Barrier
Baton Pass
NOTES: This has been made including the FR/LG Move Tutors
How about this for Registeel?
Registeel (+Sp. Def. -Spd.) @Leftovers
Iron Defense
Amnesia
Toxic
Aerial Ace/Return
Only poke I have to worry about is Skarmory, and he is used as first one in in most cases. Unusual, I know, but the attacking move is just there to run down their HP a bit extra while Toxic is taking effect.
I just don't think I should depend on him for an attacker like in the previous set.
It can set up well, but that's pretty much it. It wont work very well. You should rather go for a Cursing Registeel:
@leftovers
-curse
-earthquake
-hp: rock/return
-Rest
put dvs mostly into hp and sp.def and you got yourself some tankage and attacking power. It can also learn rock slide with fr/lg.
I like metal claw on registeel. Steel isn't worth much as an attack type but the attack has a ton of PP and can raise his attack level, both of which work well with his general strategy.
My registeel set...
@leftovers
Metal claw
amnesia / eq / toxic
curse / iron defense
rest
Even against pokemon strong against steel types, registeel will usually win in a battle of attrition. You can always drop amnesia for earthquake but I prefer the total tank aspect. If you go with toxic, it's much better to use iron defense over curse, but that should be fairly obvious.
there are three others to worry about. anti-tank banette, my anti-tank dusclops, and anti-tank sableye.Originally posted by GirlRepellant

banette@ lum berry
- knock off
- taunt/skill swap
- night shade
- will-o-wisp
jolly: 252 speed, 129 sp def, 129 def
kills registeel no problem. also gets umbreon, cradily, and duslops. the other two have there own lethal anti-tank movesets as well. tanks are awesome, but they are very easily countered by the ghosts. i'm really suprised nobody's embarked upon the concepts yet...
