man, 'bold' sounds funny. "Jirachi the Bold!"

Seriously though, if you're not going to teach him any TM moves, you should at least have these movesets:

    • Psychic
    • Doom Desire
    • Rest
    • Swift

I can't be bothered getting Pokemon Channel. Can someone lend me their Jirachi card and E-Reader

    Jirachi@Salac Berry
    Psychic
    Calm Mind
    Thunderbolt
    Water Pulse
EVs: 252 Sp Att, 252 Spd, 6 HP

    Jirachi@Salac Berry
    Psychic
    Rain Dance
    Thunder
    Water Pulse
EVs: 252 Sp Att, 252 Spd, 6 HP

Both these Movesets work but I like the one with Calm Mind more because you can keep boosting your Special Attack and Special Defence up more.

It isn't done by cards. You just download it off the game.

Points out the no one time only TMs request. And its nature is Bold, remember? How will that nature help/hinder things? (I'm Happy Hoppip's older brother BTW)

Bold is +Defense, -Speed. Would suggest a tankish approach, maybe?

    Cosmic Power
    Rest
    Thunder/Water Pulse
    Psychic

252 Defense 252 Special Attack, 6 HP or Special Defense.

Having 60% Paralyze chance makes Thunder better than Thunderbolt in his case IMHO - the accuracy vs damage equation is pretty close in any case between them. In any case it's a backup attack to Psychic.

I know you said no unique TMs, but Water Pulse is one of those that I find just sits in the TM pocket and never gets used. It's too easy to breed around from Wailmer anyway. And 60% confusion on top of damage is too tempting for me. But take your choice.

Water has an edge in terms of super-effectivness (Rock/Ground/Fire) vs Electric (Flying/Water, but able to counter Water/Psychic). Both are, however good backups to Psychic, though Grass/Psychic and Dragon/Psychic are a problem for the set (though in both cases the secondary effects may allow it to work OK).

    Actually, Bold is -Attack +Defense

Thunderbolt is still better if your Jirachi doesn't have Rain Dance or you don't have a team with Kyogre. Thunder has 70% accuarcy without rain and 50% in the sun. One vulnerable to it could simply use Sunny Day and you won't hit much.

Water Pulse would have a 40% Confusion chance with Serene Grace.

With Bold, Special Attack is the way to go.

Oops.. my bad about Bold. Um, fortunately my suggested moveset still makes sense...

Huh. Could have sworn Water Pulse was 30%, but I checked and you are of course correct.

I stand by Thunder as a backup attack (remembering Psychic is his main gun, and this set is built for endurance - that 120 strength, 60% paralyse is going to hit sometime...). My main point was the differece in Paralyse chances - even with 70% to hit it works out at better than double the chance of Thunderbolt (42% as it happens). Thunder also has 10 PP, which is good enough to stand a few misses.
