Um, yeah. I'm something of a dragon enthusiast, and I draw them all the time- mostly in school when the teacher is talking and I'm bored out of my wits because they're explaining something we've gone over 50 times before. Most of these pictures are older, and they're not quite as good as my more recent experimentations. They're also nothing compared to some of the art on the forums. But that's okay, 'cause they're decent enough, I guess. Chances are, with my luck, that these links won't work or you won't see the pics, but I'm taking my chances here, so bear with me.

    Autumn Dragon

My first experiment with a serious colored background. I've found that if I use non-photogenic (copy-not) pencil to draw in the background, it's easier to place the figure without things getting smeared or in the way, and then I just go over it with something darker later. I'm sorry that it's a little hard to see, but it was already a little sketchy and then the compressing maimed it. I did this over the course of two days of boredom in school; it took me, maybe, 1 1/2 hours? Dunno.

    Beach Dragons

A one- or two-day cleaned-up sketch also done in school. It's not 100% done, but I don't think I'm ever going to finish it anyway. In general both dragons annoy me, but I like the face of the one in the foreground.

I'll post more later after I get proof that the links work. The stupid PC is probably about to kick me off the internet anyway. Tell me what you think!

Stupid Phoenix put up a link to her personal folder. But this link should work, and if not, then a mod can delete it or whatever and I'll try again when the powers that be decide to stop making me miserable with this arse-hole internet browser of mine. Grr.

Heh, I think you should change your name to Dragonsong ...... ^_^ not really, but those dragons are awsome. I really like drawing them too, mostly cause you don't have to worry about them looking anatomically correct, because they're made up! So you can go completely wild and they still look cool.

    Ahem:

Autum Dragon: Nice trees, you did a good job with the whole foresty look of the background, and then the bright red dragon stands out quite nicely. I really like the color pallete (sp?) on this one.

Beach Dragons: Hmm, nice little pencil sketch. The wings look a wee bit small, but I get that a lot to when I'm drawing dragons. I like their poses particularly.

Black Scales: *jawdrops* Oh. My God. SCALES! They look great! Seriously, those little scales along their sides always get me, so I hardly ever actually draw scales on dragons. Wow, those are great.

Chinakitty: Woah, more scales! Kewl oriental style dragon tho, I like it's pose, and clawsiness, and the head. Sweet. Kinda lionesque dragon.

Dragon Raptor: This one is my favorite, I really like the way you colored it, and the lighting and all. Nice bird beak too. Again, the wings seem a bit small, but I think it actually looks better that way.

Sorael: I feel sorry for this one, it looks like he/she needs to go find a medic. All those holes, ;_; Hmm, nice pencil shading tho, on the rocks and mountains and such.

Tiamag: Oooon second thought, maybe this one is my favorite.... I just love the way you drew the legs, and the fire. 8) Nice head too, and spikeness, and fire wingses! Heh, I really like your dragons, they're so cool.

    Gotta go now, bye!

Whee, I feel special, someone likes my dragons! (What makes me feel even better is that you could actually see them in the first place.) I know what you mean about the anatomically correct thing- since dragons aren't real, you can take all the artistic license you want. Yay, artistic license!

1st pic: I'm surprised you think my bg is good, as yours are so much better, Agent Elrond. Actually, I found that bgs are pretty darn simple if you draw the outlines in copy-not pencil first, then outline and color them. The copy-not won't smear and it doesn't get in the way of your subject.

2nd pic: Hmm... yeah, I suppose the wings are a bit small, and on this particular pic that wasn't intentional. But now I'm just going to lie and say it was. As a teacher of mine once said, artists don't make mistakes, they make drastic design changes.

3rd pic: I like this one; imo, it's one of my personal best. This pic, the first two and a few others I did in school waiting for the rest of the class to stop screaming and goofing off. He needs a name, though... I have a couple but can't pick one. Hmm... suggestions?

4th pic: I did this on the way back from a class trip in about two hours. I had just bought a little dragon figurine as a souvenir (sp?), and I was bored. Incidentally, it's actually a "Koreakitty" or an "Indonesiakitty"- I read on a dragon website that Chinese dragons have five toes, Korean and Indonesian ones have four (like this one), and Japanese dragons have three. Oh, well. Chinakitty has a certain ring to it, anyway.

5th pic: I get easily bored during the sermons in church, too. This was done on the back of a bulletin they handed out before service. Yes, I know the wings are tiny- this time it was intentional. But hey, Dragonite can fly on its dinky little wings too, right? Originally, it was supposed to be gray, but I was having a hard time erasing the graphite and wanted to see if I could add the highlights with my white Prismacolor. Instead of leaving a white line though, it turned silver. So I just did that throughout the rest of the pic. An interesting thing to keep in mind for the future, no?

6th pic: Sorael is a he, actually. And yes, he does need a medic; not necessarily because of the holes but because the wing that's partially blocked from view is backwards. I can't explain it, but if you look at it for a while, you might see it too. A character that I plan to use in some story... if I can ever decide on just one and stick with it.

7th pic: Tiamag is a Pokémon I made up. I have geology/plate tectonics boredom to thank for this one. I'm glad you like the flames (it's an odd style I've been trying lately), but there is one thing that bothers me; I did all of the shading pretty well, except for the chin. There is a beard/goatee/whatever of flame right there, but it was too late before I noticed I'd colored it too darkly. Dang. Oh, well, I won't make the same mistakes when I finish drawing Lucifern and Nilhogg, Tiamag's counterpart-thingees.

Anyway, Agent, in short I'm glad you liked them. It's a nice feeling when someone 50 times better than you says your art is good. Thanks! Um, I think I'd better go now, as I think I'm about to be in trouble. Bye!

Yay! dragonses! ^_^ I also love dragons. I had a topic with several drawikngs, including a few dragons, up here at some point, but the topic saeems to be gone. and i dun wanna repost for some reason. :/ anywho, your dragons...

dragon #1: I like how the background makes the dragon look small in comparision. tho probably still a bit taller than a human, judging by the placement of the lower branches. I can never do backgrounds, i don't bother trying. maybe i should sometime...Anywho, the small-ish-ness of the solitary dragon is nicely balanced by the height and number of teh trees.

dragon(s) #2: Ooo, flying. I realy like the poses. and the front claws/paws/feet/whatever/hands, whatever you think a dragon's front appendage is.

dragon #3: love the detail on this one. I tried doing a dragon with every scale recently. it took a while, and i ended making most of the scales fairly big. i like your scales better.

dragon #4: awww, it;s all fierce and oriental-y. how cute! ^_^

dragon #5: "raptor" indeed. the pose reminde me of one (the dinosaur kind) and the beak also reminds me of one (the bird of prey kind)

dragon #6: poor hurt-looklign dragon. tho it's face doesn't look pained, so maybe they're old wounds/ or he could be toughint it out.

dragon #7: Fiery! hey, the pose looks familiar...meh. i love how the wings are made of fire and how there's flames all over it. Fire pokemon are my favorite type. ^_^ Timag reminds me of the name Timatm a fairly famous mythological dragon. Timag = Timat + magma?

on all: love the shading, and the colors on those that have them. I've paid closer attention to shading since i took a drawing class last year in high school. my shading has much improved, and I've gotten a better appreciation for good shading. Nice job on them all!

    I envy you....Three things....

    3. You can make up your own mythical creatures(which actually look good)

    2. You can draw backgrounds

    1. You can draw dragons.... :p

It's very, very hard to say which one I favour out of all of them....They're all done so frikin well! The shading, the creativity, the colour schemes...the....well....everything! I'd probably say my favourite looking ones would be either the Dragoraptor or the Tiamag...Dragoraptor because of it's...whiteness...that, and I also believe that this one is shaded best out of all of them...Then, we come to Tiamag....I love the fire > : ) I love the skin colour too...and the dragon itself looks downright \m/EVIL\m/ ....and I LOVE evil....

In terms of the Autumn Dragon...I like the background...as I mentioned vaguely before, I can't draw backgrounds to save my life....I'd personally like to have that dragon "Beach Dragons" is fantastic.....I'd love to see that one coloured sometime soon....

Overall, and on all of your other ones, excellent work....I mean it....You have some talent there, Pheonix....*adds to hero list*

I told you I'd be back

Wow. All of these compliments... it's scary. No, really. I'm intimidated. That's not to say that I'm not grateful that you like my art (or that I'm not grateful that you can see it at all ). Yeah, I guess the highlighting on the Dragoraptor is nice... I did something similar on a pic that I'm waiting for my mom to scan. And yes, Mew Trainer Rose, the name did come from Tiamat+magma. Good job, you did your homework! Have a cookie! The other two that go with it are similar-looking, but I have yet to draw them. Lucifern and Nilhogg... anyone have a guess on where I got those names? I have more cookies... um, yeah. I'm off! *goes off to reply to some other threads*

    Lucifern...fern + Lucifer? Do I know a famous dragon names Lucifer?.....Must be a Grass-type, tho.
Nilhogg...I think there's a mythologocal dragon named Nidhogg....Norse? (looks up) yup, Norse. The giant snake that's constantly gnaws opn the roots of the World Tree. Can't tell what element it is, tho.
(Looks up Lucifer) Ah, right, satan. I didn't know he was sometimes pictured as a red dragon. Satan as a plant dragon? Meh, maybe it's just a name.

MTR gets more cookies because she did her homework again. Yes, the names did come from Lucifer/fern and Nidhogg (the "Nil-" comes from Nile River, actually, so it's a water-type). And I don't think of Lucifer as Satan himself, but as a servant of his, so it's a little easier to picture him as a grass-type. Besides, you're right, it's just a name. Anyway, I'm soon going to be posting pics of some random dragon in the Amazon rainforest that I drew to sell at my brother's school auction (my mom ended up buying it anyway) and of some dragons flying near a beach at twilight (not the same as the beach dragons pic) that's going to my school auction. I should be able to get the Amazon one up soon- my mom already scanned it and it's both on a diskette that I lost and on her computer... if only she'd remember to save it again. Grr... hmm... and I have some other interesting pics in store too, including three that I'm going to enter in that Kids' WB contest (American members who actually watch the episodes may be familiar with this)... I need help deciding which to enter, though. But, yeah, as soon as my mom scans those, I shall post for you to all gaze in wonderment at... or cringe at out of abject terror and run away from... whatever works for you. Um, bye.

Wow, you're entering? Damn....I have no bloody chance now....:p

At least a very small one:p that and considering the fact that I'd have to mail the entry form to my relatives in the states to enter

    How old are you, anyway?

Hey, hey, hey. You've probably still got a chance, Serpentra. I'm sure your art is good. Besides, it depends on which one you're entering. I'm still deciding whether to enter my Treecko, my Mudkip or my Pikachu drawing (which is what I was talking about), but as long as you're entering something that's not what I'm entering, then it's fine. No reason at all for the judge people to decide between yours and mine. Hmm... you've got to mail it into the States? You might want to hurry- they've got to be in Kids' WB's hands by April 10. Oh, and I'm 15 years old... just young enough to still qualify.

Um, Onimusha... I only posted seven pictures, not eight. I'm assuming you ment the seventh one, but whatever. You liked one of them, whichever it was, so thank you.

Yeah...You can enter all of them if you want....As for me, I'm gonna do Torchic and Treecko :p This would probably be the only chance I'd be able to qualify in anything like this, seeing as I'm 15 as well^_^'

Ah. Forgot about that part. Ha, and my mom kept telling me just to send in the Treecko because I couldn't send the other two anyway, and they don't look as pretty. Best of luck to you as well, Serpentra *bows back*.

Whee, my mom finally emailed the picture I gave to my brother's auction, so I can show it to everyone now. Here we go! *kneels and prays that the link works*

Whee, look at me, I'm double posting. I'm a bad girl. Anyway, I finally got more of my pics up onto MSN, so they are now there for your viewing pleasure. Not all of them are dragons, but watevah. If you want to see them, click on the link in my second post; I’m too lazy to retype it. Also, most of the new drawings are on Page 2, so look for them there… ahem. Descriptions.

Avisceon and Façadeon: The two on the crappy yellow paper. Avisceon is my Flying-type Eeveelution and Façadeon is my Ghost-type Eeveelution. I drew Avisceon first, and then when I was halfway through coloring Façadeon I realized that I had accidentally given them both the same color scheme. Oops. Anyway, I posted these so that you people could help me decide which one looks better with the blue and gray colors, and which I should recolor.

Charisclaw: (pronounced "kar-IS-klaw"; the "ch" is like that in "charisma") Not only am I obsessed with dragons, I also have a big thing for elves. I've made over... what is it now? At least 35 or so elvish Pokemon, because once you think of one you think of a million more, and it gets almost addictive, kinda like Lynx Wolverina and her kitty/doggie fakes. The thing that this evolves from, Swoggle, originally evolved into four different things, but after some idea-changing, name changing and other issues beyond my control, I got carried away and now it evolves into 18 different Pokemon. (That's nothing compared to the 22 Eeveelutions I created, but still.) Anyway, because I was bored and had a thesaurus in my grasp and nothing better to do, I decided that Swoggle's evolutions are all based on different emotional-type traits- so one of them is always malicious, one is always heartless and indifferent, one always acts like it just drank five gallons of caffeinated drinks, and so on. This one is the calm, friendly, amiable one. And yes, I know, the only thing that makes it look like an elf are its ears. Too many of my elf fakies looked like different colored Legolases and Santa Claus elves, so I decided to make these more cat-like. Elves are really cat-like anyway, if you care to think about it.

Drasche: My first serious attempt with felt-tip markers, and also my first serious attempt at musculature. Considering he’s on cruddy graph paper, I really like the way he turned out. He looks all shiny and metallic, no? One of my favorite dragons.

Mudkip: My favorite of the three card illustrations I submitted. It’s cute, ain’t it? Too bad the coloring is crap, and I also think that none of my three pics got there in time. Oh, well, there’ll be other contests.

Pikachu: I was going for a thick, fuzzy look with this one, and I think it turned out nicely. Yay me.

Solo: The Latios morph I mentioned in some other thread. This pic is the spawn of me being really bored and hot and having a pencil in hand, when I could have been playing in water. I don’t know why I chose to sit there in the “shade” in the first place. But that’s beside the point.

Treecko: The third entry. This is the one my mom liked best. I know that the tail looks massive and unwieldy, and that there are only two of the... little... tail thingies, but I personally like drawing my Treeckos that way. Whatever™.

T-rex: Dinosaurs- another of my bizarre fascinations. I did this shortly after drawing my plastic T-rex skeleton for school. Yes, the lower jaw is a bit small, I know. There was going to be a bg, but the way the copy-not sketch turned out was crap. Oh, well, I like him anyway. Raise your hand if you think the coloring looks odd *raises hand*.

I have other things to be doing now, better and more important things than reviving dead topics, so faretheewell.

i like the eeveelutions. i think Façadeon should stay as it is, the cholor sceme suits it. and Avisceon could do well with a brighter color sceme.

Charisclaw: doesn't look particularly elvish to me at all. but then again, the size of the pic makes it hard to see ther ears. again, i love the flames on it!

Drasche: Ooo...purty shiny and metalic indeed! very luverly.

Solo: awww, he looks so lonely. cheer up! *gives him a hug*

Mudkip, Pikachu and Treeco: very nice. I personally like the Pikachu pic the best of the three. Good luck with the contest!

T-rex: *raises hand* the blue on the legs and arms looks kinda funny. i like the green/brown, tho.
