Well Nintendo hosted an official Pokemon Tournament...of sorts. You trained an R/S team and played it on Colloseum.

The winner was a 10 year old boy named William somebody....

    Guess who he used?

    Rayquaza
    Kyogre
    Jirachi
    Metagross.

I hate to stereotype, but it makes sense. The rules didnt not allow certain Pokemon, so it wasn't as if William cheated by using OU Pokemon, It just feels as if it isnt his skills at training that earned him his title.

I'm sure some of you guys could have swept his team with IV trained, Nature-specific anti-legendaries ^^

    Discussage.

If someone decent was there that guy would not have won. I bet Metagross had Psychic and Jirachi had Doom Desire. I also bet none of them were EV trained. He wasn't really cheating, just taking advantage of the rules. That many Legendaries is pushing it, I would only use one at the most. I wonder what the rest of his team was? Most likely poorly trained Pokémon with sucky movesets.

that's how kids are like my cousins only use ledgendaries and then they use the few rare candies they can find, and then train them to 100 cause they don't have anything better to do and then you can't beat them with your truly-trained pokemon...

This was the team I used in the last match:

    Camerupt@Leftovers
    Lax/Oblivious
    Eruption
    Earthquake
    Rock Slide
    Amnesia

    Gardevoir@Focus Band
    Rash/Synchronize
    Psychic
    Calm Mind
    Thunderbolt
    Destiny Bond

    Weezing@ Shell Bell
    Jolly/Levitate
    Sludgebomb
    Fireblast
    Explosion
    Haze

    Dusclops@Chesto Berry
    Pressure/Modest
    Imprision
    Ice Beam
    Rest
    Shadow Ball

Sometimes it was only 4V4, other times 6V6...they varied it to add originality.

I never fought William, I lost to a girl with Sceptile, Groudon, Latias and Latios.

I lost marginally. It came down to Groudon VS Dusclops. Unfortunately I was a gonner, I knew it. Even though Groudon was in high yellow HP, it just wiped me with Flamethrowers.

I took down Latios with DB and the girl was almost in tears. She must have been 11. Her mother looked at me sourly, and being nearly 16, I felt guilty as hell.

I dunno why, but I totally imagined winning. My guys werent IV/EV trained, some natures suck...but all-in-all, where did I go wrong?

Wow, that "tournament" thing doesn't seem like the kind of place experts would be seen at.

Here's what I can tell. Well, I'm sure nearly everybody there was newbish, and didn't know what they were doing. I'm going to bet that almost everyone there just sweeped, and didn't try any other tactics. Your Weezing knows Haze, which is undoubtedly a good move, buuuut against these people, it won't work. Haze is great on Weezing, except I don't think anyone there would rely on stat-pumping moves or Baton Passing at all.

On your Dusclops, I know that set could be at least considered "alright" if not "good" among us at TPM, buuut once again, it's not best against who you're going against. You can't rely on those types to be intelligent enough to try rest and stuff. With Dusclops though I'm sure you'd have had better luck with Toxic and perhaps trying to stall.

Hmm. You did good, though. You used some underused Pokemon that have potential, and some that are pretty good. That girl was utterly cheap, though. Putting her on the edge of tears.. that makes me laugh, and then it makes me feel sorry for her, then I realize it's funny and I'm glad you did good

Hey -- did you win any matches? How did those go?

Why would someone almost cry when one of their Pokémon lost? They should at least wait until the end of the battle. You should EV train in tournaments with newbs and n00bs anyway because they will most likely have many Legendaries. A few tanks works great. You could focus some of your team on beating Legendaries and the rest as usual in case someone good comes along.

That guy has a Website that I found and he give Movesets to Pokemon. The Movesets he makes are illegal and suck, see a Rayquaza Moveset I found on his site. He also thinks he's Elite because he beat that Battlemaster thing. You know what I think? I think he's a total n00b for using two Ubers, one Legend, and one Semi Legend. Brit Chris, you got to the Final Round? I think you deserved getting that far and your Movesets don't look half bad. You have fair Pokemon and a battle with you would be very fair by the looks of things.

    Rayquaza@Master Ball
    Recover
    Hydro Cannon
    Hyper Beam
    Dragon Claw
Example: Kid's Rayquaza Moveset Rate (Not a joke!)

Crufidal: Well I didn't make these movesets for those opponents, I was genuinely surprised. Most people either had a Legendary or a semi-legendary like Salamence, Metagross or something.

I won 2 other matches, against much less-cheap opponents. I whupped Gary, this 44-year old man who looked like a paedophile. He had a Mawile with Bulk Up, Focus Punch, Baton Pass and something else. He bulked up a couple times, punched (but failed), bulked up again and passed to...

...Ho-oh! Ok, I was surprised. It was rubbish, though, it had Sacred Fire, Fly, Recover and Solarbeam! Gardevoir cleaned it up. She also defeated Mawile with a few psychics.

He also used a Salamence, which killed Gardevoir. Dusclops tidied him up, though.

My other opponent was a boy named...erm...ok I dunno his name ^^;;. He was a harder opponent but he was really serious! He glared at me like I shouldn't have been there...but he was about 20!

He had Medicham (triple-puncher with recover, Gardevoir showed him), Metagross (tough, but I won with Camerupt), Swampert (Not too difficult, Mud Shot was a pain in the a$$ though) and a Kyogre. He didn't even have Calm Mind! He seemed like an expert, but had it use Toxic, then Protect/Ice Beam. He was an idiot, because Camerupt had thick fat, so he = fcuked. (After trading some version-exclusives with him, I learned Kyogre also had Psychic) Camerupt used an amnesia and then used earthquakes to win.

I should train a Salamence, but I was happy with my team. They did darn good against their opponents. I also blended some nifty Pokeblocks for my Feebas, as well as trading a Lotad, Seviper and Lunatone for a Seedot, Zangoose and Solrock.

I also found Gary and got a Treecko and Mudkip with Pokers - AND - He traded me a shiny Beldum!!!!!!!!!! Whee! He said I could do with a Metagross, and that this one would embaress my opponents even more. All I had to do was give him my Kyogre....!!!!!!

    So all-in-all I had a great day!

I know, and I'm not criticizing...

I think your performance was splendid, though. You owned a Kyogre and stuff. Wow. It must have been fun. I'd love to face off against a variety of opponents like that, that would be such an awesome experience. I never get to battle, except with friends sometimes, and then I know what to expect. It would be nice to fight some variety and have a thrill, and actually test myself.

    Yeah, you did great

Maximum legendary count on a team exceeded! Metagross is acceptable but 3 other legends? Why do they allow that in tournaments?

They should really ban Legendarys from tournaments. Then u could see how strong people really are. I'd like to see that Williak guy make a team that used non-legendary pokes. That would be a good laugh. And u shoudnt use game shark to give pokes moves they cant learn. thats just cheap.

I'd LOVE to meet someone in a Pokemon fight besides my friends! I wish more such stuff would happen in Sweden... Even if my movesets are about as bad as a Magikarps, it would be a nice experience and I'd love to meet someone whose Pokemon were a surprise to me. I envy you...

Well I had a great time (Shiny Metagross will own William next time...whee), my Pokedex is NEARLY filled save for Latios, Groudon, Feebas, Milotic, Rhydon and Glalie. Yay!

PS: Random question. I met/battled all 69 Trainer Eye Trainers, but I thought I got a trainer star for it!?! Someone then mentioned 1,000 battles earns you another star....umm...help?

pps: Sorry Andy, your post was a few seconds before mine! But William sounds like quite the evil genius. I'll enter an Anti-Legendary League next time ^^

You never get a Trainer Star for getting all 69 Trainer Eyes. The four Trainer Stars are:

    1. Beat Elite Four.
    2. Get all pictures in Lilycove Musesum.
    3. Catch all 200 Pokemon in Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire.
    4. Do more than 50 Battles in a row at the Battle Tower.

That's why decent Tournaments ban Ubers and have a limit on Legends, maybe Semi-Legends too.

Ahh right, thanks. I have one, the E4 star, and am competing for the contest star, too, at the moment. I wont be able to get the Pokdex star until Box, as I need Groudon and Latios, as well as Huntail and Gorbyss. Come to think of it, i'll need Ruby to get Groudon and Latios.....damn!

As for the battle tower star, I was gonna raise Latias, something and something.

For the Battle Tower I used the Team Formation of a Physical Sweeper, a Special Sweeper, and an Annoyer/Tank. Hope that helps. Your Team that you used at Battlemaster 2004 was a good Team too, don't be thrown off by n00bs using a Team of Ubers and Legends.

it's no big deal. also, the ubers really set the tournament off at a huge imbalance. excellent results, i'd have to say. good job, just keep up the work and then you'll be able to whoop any mother****er's ass anyday.

    note:

try putting calmmind and willowisp onto dusclops. could help tank some things. overheat>eruption on camerupt can help too.
