How do we define 'web games' here? Are they defined as just games that need an Internet connection to play/download (like Steam games and many MMORPG's), or games that you need to go to a specific website to play (like Newgrounds or Kongregate)?
Anyone else found web games in general annoying? I still haven't touched my Final Fantasy XIV again! Registering, re-registering and everything like that.
My friend has trouble with Angry Birds. She is worried if her account will remain and log in again if she removes the game from her hard disk. Can you help us? This is also a general 'fun' rant thread.

With my budget and time constraints, browser-based games are what make up most of my gaming time and have for the last few years. I don't mind logging in to tally scores and whatnot. By contrast, I haven't gotten into subscription-based gaming at all because I can't justify paying to play. With effort, I try to focus more prime gaming time to be social. In other words, when my wife's home, I don't want to spend the night cooped up in my own little corner of the house without her. It would make even less sense, in my head, to pay a subscription for that time spent away from her.
My problem is perhaps that I don't know too much about internet games, and like you maybe implied, there are different 'levels' how much you have to be into the games to get some sort of equivalent for your money.
The games I play the most these days are Team Fortress 2 and Minecraft. Apparently, I don't have the same reservations about online gaming as you folks do.
Well he mentioned FF14, which is like WoW in that you have to buy a subscription on top of the game itself in order to play it. I wouldn't touch it for that exact reason. And I love Square Enix lol
Xbox Live feels different. Yes you pay a subscription, but then you can play all your games online. Therefore it is awesome. Feels like a more worthwhile investment.
On the subject of browser games, I don't play them lol. I have apps on my phone and nexus (Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, World of Goo) that I will play from time to time...

Too bad I don't have a PS3, and my laptop sucks.
I don't really play the popular online 360 games so it's a bit of a waste for me. Maybe I'll get Team Fortress 2 sometime in the future.
I prefer DS and 3DS games for my online play. No fee required and Mario Kart online is great...if you don't mind getting your ass beat and totally humiliated by a (probably) seven-year-old.

I wasn't comparing consoles. I was comparing a subscription of an individual game to that of an Xbox Live subscription. This isn't the console war thread, so I will not respond to that by saying things I've probably already said in that thread, but Shonta's pretty much hit the nail on the head there.
