    Is it possible to trade between a Japanese game and and English one?

    Yes, GBA Pkmn games aren't region specific, so any language games can trade with each other.

    Yeah, but the older games weren't compatable with each other. I think that's because the older Japanese and U.S. games didn't have the ability to use the other's text without screwing everything up. But that doesn't matter, since they're compatible now. Just ask my Bashamo.

    So, when I trade between different languages, will everything be translated into the proper languages?

    Well, sort of.

    All the pokemon's data and stats will appear in the relevant version, but the name will remain the same as it was in the game it came from (I'm talking nickname, not species name). So, if the Japanese pokemon's name was in Japanese, it will stay in Japanese in the English game.

    I'm not entirely sure, but I recall you get it by completing the Hoenn dex and then talking to Burch.

    After entering Hall of Fame in Emerald you'll get National Dex.
    By completeing the Hoenn Dex you get a choice of Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile.
