    Default PokeRus

This might sound silly.. but how do I infect one pokemon with pokerus? of course i already have one infected with it.

i tried putting one infected with 5 uninfected in my party, battled a bit, walked around, left my gb lying around a while but none of the 5 gets infected! how how...

once a pokemon has had the pokerus it can't get it again

so the only reason I can see as to why they aren't gettin' infected again is because they might have already had

the pokerus, u could try and switch out your team members to see if you can spread it to other pokemon

also they might have already gotten it and it's left them, the pokerus only lasts about 2 days so if they had it maybe

    they just got over it.

otherwise I can't tell you why it hasn't spread to other pokemon.

Nope. They are definitely fresh pokemon im trying to spread to.

maybe I'll try a bit more. which is the most effective way to spread?

I got the PokéRus in my Emerald game, and my strategy for spreading it is to put the PokéRus infected Pokémon in the lead position, and then battle some wild Pokémon. It seems to spread first to the Pokémon that are closest to the one in the lead position, so after some of your other Pokémon get the PokéRus, move it down towards the bottom of your lineup, and move your non-infected Pokémon towards the top.

The chance of infection seems to be about 30-50% per battle per adjacent pokémon. Just walking around does nothing.

Are you sure your infected pokémon is still infectious? If the purple icon has been replaced by a dot, it isn't going to be infecting anyone...

No, that just freezes the infection. Pokérus will not spread in the computer boxes (though neither will the infected pokémon become cured).

Basically, when a Pokemon is "infected" with Pokerus, their stats increase by a greater amount when you level up. However, there is no set way to catch Pokerus; there is only a small chance that it will affect one of your Pokemon after a battle, and it is completely random. Plus, as was mentioned earlier in this thread, the Pokerus will go away after a few days, and the Pokemon that had been infected will never be able to be infected with Pokerus again. You can essentially freeze that time limit by putting that Pokemon in a box, though, and by doing that and having your other Pokemon catch the Pokerus, you can set up a system where you always have one Pokemon with Pokerus.

Sadly, I've never had a single Pokemon catch Pokerus. It's all a matter of luck.

I've caught it at least twice, once in Sapphire and once in Emerald. You only get the message from Nurse Joy alerting you to it the first time you heal up at a Pokémon Centre with a live one - it is possible that you may catch it several times but not realise it.

Heh, I caught mine in Gold, don't know how much the chance has changed in the Gem generation.
