Default What was the deal with hm 06

Ok, I`m a new member here, so if I do something wrong don`t yell at me.

I heard awhile back about something called hm 06. Apparently, it was something like teach toxic to a pidgey then talk to professor Oak to get an hm that could teach any pokemon any move. It didn`t work for me, but can someone give me more info.(my question sign isn`t working right now.)

Sounds like someone gave you very inaccurate information. Allow me to give you the correct rundown.

First of all, in Red, Blue, and Yellow, there were only five HMs. You could never get a sixth HM, even by using a cheat device such as a GameShark. It simply did not exist.

In Gold, Silver, and Crystal, there were seven HMs rather than five. The additional ones were Whirlpool and Waterfall. Whirlpool was HM6, and it allowed you to pass through whirlpools when in the field. (In battle, it was a weak move that dealt damage at the end of every turn for 2-5 turns. Sort of like Fire Spin, but with the Water type.)

In Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, HM8 was added (Dive). Also, HM6 was changed from Whirlpool to Rock Smash. Rock Smash was a fairly weak Fighting attack in battle, but in the field it allowed you to shatter rocks. (Hence the name, Rock Smash.)

I'm not sure where you got that piece of info, but it must've been a hoax. Frankly, it sounds a lot like the rumor of "Mewthree" back in the day, which I fell for myself. But anyway, there's the scoop on HM6 throughout the Pokemon games.

Oh, and before I forget, welcome to TPM! I hope you enjoy your time here.

Thanks. I was sure it wasn`t true, but I wondered if anyone else had ever heard of it.

Wasn't there some sort of wierd glitch where you could obtain an HM that teaches the move GARY (or whatever you chose to name your rival) and the move let you walk through walls but did it in a really glitchy way...I don't remember...what was the number of that glitch HM? Or was the "number" a glitch tile like what you see with the Missingno. item duplication?

Hmm... found a site of unknown reliability that claimed to offer info on the walk-through-walls HM. I'll give the info straight to you, as it wasn't very lengthy:

    HM 06 CODE

To Get HM 06 Rival's, you will need a Gameshark. Enter 01A47CCF and the infinite money code, which is 019948D3. Once done, go to any store. You should see Rival's but it cost's over 900,000 dollars!

To Use HM 06 Rival's, go to a wall only one layer thick and face the opposite direction. Go to items, select Rival's, and exit the options menu. You should see Ash and his pokemon on the screen, but don't worry.Push the conrol stick in the direction of the wall. Then go to the list of pokemon that you have with you and exit the options menu.

Below Are some tips on where to use HM 06.
1.)When you are facing the elite four and you don't want to face one of the people, simply do this. Stand right against the doors that let you get to the next Elite Four character and stand opposite of them and use HM 6, press up slighty and then do the rest of HM 6's directions to get back to normal. You should be on the doors. Press up, you walk through the doors!!! NOTE:WHEN YOU DO THIS, ALL THE REST OF THE DOORS ARE OPEN TOO! NOTE: IF YOU SKIP ONE ELITE FOUR MEMBER, YOU CAN'T FIGHT GARY - THOUGH YOU CAN TALK TO HIM AND GO STRAIGHT TO THE HALL OF FAME

2.) Near Saffron - If you can't get into saffron because of those guards, use HM 6 and to heck with the guards

NOTE:IF YOU TRY TO GO TO SOME PLACES YOUR GAME WILL FREEZE.JUST YOUR GAMEBOY OFF AND IT SHOULD BE OKAY.

AND THERE ARE LOTS MORE PLACES TO SEARCH, BUT I WILL LEAVE IT UP TO YOU TO FIND THEM!!
Yeah. The site was clearly nothing close to official; for all I know this could be just as big of a hoax as Mewthree. But there it is. You can either believe it or not believe it; I honestly don't fully trust the site. But if it sounds familiar to you, Poryhedron, then it's probably what you heard before. Oh, and I'm pretty sure this was from RBY, in case you didn't know. The quoted text makes it pretty clear, and the "last edit" thingie on the page was sometime in 1999. So yeah, it probably doesn't work for GSC. Or at least it probably doesn't work in this manner.

EDIT: Found another site that claimed to have info on the same code, but for Ruby and Sapphire. (It didn't say whether it would work on Emerald.) Here it is:

    Walk Through Walls

    CE2CCCB2 5D8D815D

EDIT2: Okay, this is gonna be the last edit, because I'm sick of wading through the muck already. Here's an excerpt from a cheats bulletin board, in a post by a guy who was talking about things you can do with an "xploder" device:

    walk thruogh walls 01AA6CE,01AA5CE,01AA4CE,01AA3CE
In other news, I'm quite glad to be a mod in a forum where people actually put out a little effort to not seem like idiots.
