I've got a couple leaky channels as well. I watched Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone on one of those pay per view stations with nearly perfect reception, years ago. It's not stealing if it's given to you. It's receiving. ^_^
Hehe, We're not supposed to get Channel 16, it's Encore, a movie channel you are supposed to buy seperately. But for some reason, it is very watchable, I dunno if it's just at our house or what, but it's kinda cool. I mean, it's not perfect, there is still scrambling stuff in the way, but you can hear the sound really well, I think there might be a little buzz, but I don't really notice it. And the picture is way better than it should be, in color, and you can watch it if you really wanna see the movie or if you just don't mind the fuzz (I don't because a few of our local channels are worse than they should be, and I actually don't really like the company) FOX was messed up so bad last year, I wasn't able to enjoy American Idol at all.
Anyway, I was just curious, does anyone consider it stealing, if you watch that channel without paying? My mom said it's not, cause we didn't cause it illegally, but I wonder if anyone thinks so? And does anyone else have a leaky channel?![]()

In the UK, the TV Licensing is so anal about paying them that you'll probably be fined if you even think about buying a TV without paying for a license at least 4 months in advance.
The TV License is a waste of money. While it is called a license, it is essentially a tax that pays for the BBC. I wouldn't mind so much if anything the BBC had produced in the last 10 years was any good, but aside from the excellent 'The Office', everything was completely cack. It is something like Ł180 per year. I say scrap the BBC and the TV License or privatise the BBC completely and scrap the TV License. The BBC costs about 20 times more than its main terrestrial rival ITV, mainly due to bureaucacy and corruption.
But anyway, enjoy the free TV while it lasts.

When I got back from college a few weeks ago, I found out we got Toon Disney. It was previously unaccessable but I guess some of the wiring got changed around and now I can watch some of the shows. Nothing exciting but it's cool

You're lucky... We had to pay extra for Disney and my mom got it when I was like 3, and I had it until they COMPLETELY TOOK IT OFF when I was 14. It's because our town is small (and...poor...) and they claimed that "not enough people were buying it" (and I've never forgiven them) Same thing happened to Cable Internet (which we bought and they got rid of after a year) and Digital Cable (which we were considering, and when we went up to ask about it, they had gotten rid of it)Originally Posted by The_Missing_

Meh, I never get free channels accidentally. I have DirecTV satellite, and sometimes I get free premium movie channels over the weekend, but it isn't accidental, DirecTV just does that a couple of times throughout the year.

Reminds me of when we didn't subscribe for porn but we go it anyway :biggrin:
I have a friend who received free cable for a year o.O They thought they were going to get disconnected because they never bothered paying the bills, but still continued to receive it.
Heh, there were a bunch of commercials awhile back about how "Stealing Cable is a Crime!" I think it's pretty moronic, myself; frankly, I probably wouldn't even know if I was receiving extra channels. I'd just say, "Hmm, I've never watched this station before. Wonder what it's like?" ...I'm clueless that way sometimes. ^_^;
Yeah, it's illegal in the books. I've never heard of anyone actually being charged with it as a crime (outside of the aforementioned commercials), and I don't think the police exactly patrol the streets looking for cable thieves. In my opinion, it's as morally correct or incorrect as you think it is. After all, it's a really weird and convoluted law in the first place. *shrugs*
My digital cable provider has a really good deal set up so that when I buy internet access from them, I can get access to about 100 pay channels for $20. As a result, I have all the channels available from my cable company and I only pay $150 a month. There is no channels to leak to me.

back at my old house we somehow got the disney channel. it was awesome cause it wasnt supposed to be a part of normal cable. we never asked about it or anything...just kept it and watched it. then one day it disappeared as quickly as we got it. sad day...
luckily here we have it as part of our regular lineup. well, it was lucky back when I really cared about the disney channel, haha. I do remember them saying they were going to discontinue it, but so many people complained so they kept it on. too bad movie channels never get "leaked" in...
Yeah, I've heard of "watching the high-numbered channels through the fuzz" as being a no-no.
Our old cable company used to run promos on the weekends where we would get the movie channels temporarily, but I haven't seen our current cable company do that. The thing I've noticed about cable now, is that were getting almost no good channels since they want everyone to switch to overpriced digital.![]()
