Default Ace64 vs. Blademaster (Ref: TBA)

Okay, time to get my feet wet.

    DQ: One week
    Single Battle
    Ref:needed.
You send first, I'll attack first.
Banned Moves: Substitute, Toxic, "cheap" moves (Destiny Bond, Explosion, etc.)
    Arena: Main Street
The battle begins at dawn in the heart of a sleepy surburban town. There are many stores along the street, which can affect the course of the battle, including a Poke Mart. Tossing an opponent into a glass pane or hurling furniture at them is an effective way to battle. By the third round, the people will begin waking up and travel to Main Street. The battle goes on regardless, feel free to maim them if you wish.

I think I remembered everything... Open to anyone, I don't care where my experience comes from, as long as I learn.

    Hey, Ace!

We both seem to be new here, so I guess we oughta battle each other, huh?

If I'm reading this correctly, this is a 1-on-1 battle? I toss out a Poke, then you toss out yours and attack, and we go from there?

Also, a DQ is a time limit, right?

OK, so, I'm ready whenever you are!

Hey, great, a noob battle!

You've got it exactly right, Blade. Send out your first, then I'll send mine and attack, then your attack, and then we worry about a ref. The DQ, if I have it right, is the amount of time before the battle's dead. So, you have a week to post once the battle begins, or else it's disqualified.

Just so you know, my Pokemon are Tyrogue, Wailmer, Scyther, and Spoink. I wasn't going to go with type advantages, but it's your decision.

So, without further adieu, let's get started!

    I choose you, Roswell!

(pokeball spits out a Pokemon resembling an iron claw with an eye at its peak)

    "Beldum..." the creature droned.

Just a question- is it assumed that Beldum knows all the moves as its evolution set?

Steel- a tough type to counter. I'll go with Big Bertha, my Wailmer!

I'll start things off with Amnesia, to try and protect you from psychic attacks.Follow up with a Water Pulse, maybe we'll get lucky and confuse the enemy.Finish up with an Ice Beam, make that chunk of steel a chunk of ice.
In case he tries to use any stat-reducing or raising moves, counter with Astonish, unless he does it twice in a row.

Actually, I don't believe so. Beldum is one of the Pokemon that doesn't need experience to evolve, which leads me to believe that it can only Take Down.

That's right. Since Beldum only knows Take Down, it doesn't need to battle to evolve. If someone has the points, they can evolve it straight into a Metang

    (sighs)

It's tough, y' know? The ASB Pokemon I currently have are Torchic, Ralts (Where the Hell did that name come from, anyway? Anyone?), Beldum, and Magikarp, but the latter 2 are pretty much helpless until they evolve. And I don't know how long that'll take...

Yeah, I hear you. But from what TBA and TML are saying, Beldum and (I assume) Magikarp don't need battle experience to evolve. You could fight with Ralts and Torchic to gain the points needed, and then evolve either of them from there. So, maybe you should switch Beldum with either of those two, otherwise the battle would be a little boring. I won't go for type advantage, so don't sweat that.

Yeah, Magikarp doesn't need EXP either. And I guess I'll wait on Blademaster's reply before reffing.

Alright, let's get started, for real this time.

I'll choose Relic, my male Scyther.

Start off with Swords Dance,, then follow up with a Blinding Blade(Quick Attack+Slash) combo. In case of super effective moves, use Doube Team to dodge.

Er, oops. Didn't do that on purpose, just thought that there were very few effective Bug moves. Then I saw that Scyther learns Silver Wind.Whoops. Don't worry, I won't use Silver Wind or Fury Cutter.

That done, we can finally sit back and wait for TBA. No rush.

    [center]Ace64 verses Blademaster!
    1 v 1!
    Referee: TheBlueAvenger
    Arena: Main Street
Track: New Orleans Funk - Paul Sumpter

    -Team Ace-
    Relic (male Scyther)
    HP: 100% | EN: 100% | Status: Fine
Attacks: Swords Dance ~ Quick Attack + Slash

    -Team Blade-
    Phoebe (female Ralts)
    HP: 100% | EN: 100% | Status: Fine
    Attacks: Will'o'Wisp ~ Confusion ~ Double Team

    Round 1... begin!

It's a quiet morning here on Main Street. Nobody's awake yet, except for the lone paperboy riding down into the suburbs on his bicycle. Two trainers step into the main intersection, which they have gotten boarded off for today, and acknowledge each other with nods. In perfect synchrony, they toss brightly colored red-and-white balls to the ground. One opens to reveal a ferocious Scyther, Ace's Relic, while the other releases a young, spry Ralts, Blademaster's Phoebe. The two trainers order their attacks and the round begins.
Relic starts off, utilizing his natural speed advantage. He starts to spin around in a circle, but he senses what Phoebe is doing: noticing an impending fire attack, he quickly changes what he was about to do. Relic quickly fans out into a line of clones, 3 in all. Phoebe pales almost imperceptibly as she suddenly finds herself facing down Scyther triplets, but nevertheless, she continues with the Will'o'Wisp. She gestures at the Scyther on the far left, and a small orb of dark fire jets off toward the clone. The fire strikes and bursts on contact... and Phoebe grins. She luckily enough managed to hit the real Relic. His concentration momentarily broken, Relic's clones diappear, and he finds himself burnt.
However, this does not stop him from his next attack. Hovering in the air slightly, Relic stretches his scythes out and races at Phoebe. The attack too quick for Phoebe to react to, Relic easily pulls it off, shooting by the Ralts while performing a Slash. Phoebe topples over, but pulls herself back up quickly, pausing only to prepare her next attack. She closes her eyes and launches a psychic assault at her foe; the attack hits, dealing damage and addling Relic's brain slightly.
Relic merely sits down quietly, having performed his orders, as Phoebe fans out in a line of clones. However, he begins to feel the ill effects of the burn...

    End!

    -Team Ace-
    Relic (male Scyther)
HP: 91% | EN: 91% | Status: Burnt (3% damage per turn and slight attack drop), mind slightly addled

    -Team Blade-
    Phoebe (female Ralts)

I know you're addled, Relic, so I'll try to keep things simple.

First, we need to get rid of those clones. Nail the real Phoebe with Aerial Ace.
Next, she'll be sending those waves of hypnosis at you. Focus on the pain that burn's giving you, the headache that last attack caused...and channel it into a Facade. That should cancel out the attack loss, and keep you awake. If you can, try and knock Phoebe away from you.
Lastly, finish with Light Screen to lessen the impact of that Psychic.

    Aerial Ace-Facade-Light Screen

    If asleep, use Sleep Talk.

    Round 2... begin!

The sleepy little town is beginning to wake up, but nobody's out and about yet, leaving the empty Main Street as a perfect spot for a battle. The two Pokemon are relatively fresh, and so they leap back into battle without hesitation. With Relic still slightly disoriented, Phoebe takes the opportunity to close her eyes and focus her energy. Falling into a meditative state, the Ralts manages to improve her elemental resistance and power. She opens her eyes to the sight of Relic flying at her; apparently the Scyther focused long enough to remember what he was supposed to do. Immediately homing in on the real Phoebe, Relic slashes out with one quick swipe, knocking her back and forcing her to lose her clones.
Phoebe scowls and gets back to her feet. Taking advantage of Relic's pause to remember his attacks, she sends out wave after wave of psychic energy. They hit Relic spot-on, and prove particularly effective in his addled state, lulling the Scyther to sleep. Fortunately for him, this cures his mind, and Relic remembers his command. Phoebe perks up as she hears her foe begin to mumble in his sleep. Relic spreads his wings wide, and a sharp wind begins to pick it. It centers at Phoebe, enveloping her in a cloud of silver dust, then blowing away, leaving the Ralts dazed and injured by the Silver Wind.
Not to be deterred, Phoebe gestures at Relic and establishes a psychic link. Unfortunately, this leaves her vulnerable to Relic's next attack. He begins to murmer in his sleep again, but this time, Relic zips over to Phoebe and slashes at her hard with his scythes. However, Phoebe maintains her connection and begins to drain health from her sleeping foe. Relic stirs as his wonderful dream drains away...

    End!

    -Team Ace-
    Relic (male Scyther)
HP: 79% | EN: 76% | Status: Burnt (3% damage per turn and slight attack drop), asleep

    -Team Blade-

    Argh...sleeping. This means subs.

Relic,Snore as loud as you can. Hopefully, you can wake yourself up from the sound. If you're awake, then we can move on. Strike her with a nice, hard Facade and try to push her backwards. Don't approach her directly, either- we don't want a direct hit from her psychic abilities. Finally, show her how manly (bug-ly?) you are with Attract.

OK, sorry about that - I was trying to decide between moves and I forgot to change Confusion the second time around.

It's fixed now, though. Confusion is the move I was going for.

    [center]Ace64 verses Blademaster!
    1 v 1!
    Referee: TheBlueAvenger
    Arena: Main Street
Track: New Orleans Funk - Paul Sumpter

    -Team Ace-
    Relic (male Scyther)
HP: 79% | EN: 76% | Status: Burnt (3% damage per turn and slight attack drop), asleep
Attacks: Snore ~ Sleep Talk ~ Light Screen

    -Team Blade-
    Phoebe (female Ralts)
    HP: 75% | EN: 77% | Status: Cut, elemental resistance/power raised
Attacks: Confusion ~ Dream Eater ~ Thunderbolt

    Round 3... begin!

A blind rolls up in a nearby window, signaling the opening of Cutt's butchershop. A few cars begin to line up at a red light. Assorted people start to wander down the sidewalks. The small town is in fact beginning to wake up... but this does not deter our battlers. Relic, in his sleepy state, takes a little longer to perform his attack, and so Phoebe jumps in with her move: using her superior Psychic abilities, she blasts the sleeping Scyther with multicoloured waves of mental energy. At the same time, however, Relic opens his mouth wide and lets loose a powerful sonic attack that ripples across the street. Unfortunately, even though it strikes Phoebe, it didn't have its intended effect: instead of waking Relic up, the shocking sound, when combined with the mind-warping powers of Confusion, merely made the Scyther's dream turn a little sour. His expression, though, makes it clear that the nightmare has soon passed.
Pleased with her success, Phoebe repeats a move from last round. Closing her eyes to focus, she establishes a mental link with Relic, gazing into the Scyther's dreamscape... Meanwhile, Relic slowly climbs to his feet and starts to mumble in his sleep. His scythes suddenly begin to glow with a brown energy, and he swoops at Phoebe, slashing at her with a brutal Rock Smash. The Rock Smash, though not particularly powerful, does distract her enough so that the Dream Eater doesn't do as much damage as it should. Phoebe scowls as her mental link is broken.
Phoebe folds her arms across her chest, focusing once more, but this time on a different subject. Her body begins to spark and crackle with electrical energy as she prepares to unleash a devastating Thunderbolt. Meanwhile, Relic's sleeping brain tries to process its command. Light Screen... Light Screen... echoes through his subconscious, and eventually, his mind just gives up, not being able to execute the command at the moment. Phoebe takes the opportunity of her foe's inactivity immediately. She gestures at Relic, and suddenly, all of the pent-up electric energy flies through the air, arcing across the still-slightly-dark sky until it reaches Relic, zapping him harshly.
Fortunately for Relic, the Thunderbolt shocks him enough to wake him up.

    End!

    -Team Ace-
    Relic (male Scyther)
HP: 55% | EN: 69% | Status: Burnt (3% damage per turn and slight attack drop), very awake

    -Team Blade-
    Phoebe (female Ralts)
    HP: 70% | EN: 58% | Status: Cut, elemental resistance/power raised

    Mkay, Blademaster, then Ace.

Super Effectives are OK by me, Ace. I don't want any special treatment. Give me what you've got!

    Main Street

    OK, Phoebe, he's awake!

He's gonna be wary of Hypnosis from now on, so don't bother with that. Instead, use a Thunder Wave to slow it down; then use Reflect to ward off its attacks. Lastly, use Mimic if it uses an offensive move; use Psychic if it tries a defensive move or a move that wouldn't hurt it if Mimicked.

    Move: Thunder Wave, Reflect, Mimic
    Sub: --------------------, --------, Psychic

Okay, we're going to have to "mimic" our opponent this round, Relic.

You've got more energy and speed, so get a Safeguard up before that Thunder Wave.
While he uses Reflect, counter with a Light Screen.
Last, use a good strong Facade. That burn has been a pain in the butt all this time, try and get some payback, finally. Even if she mimics it, it shouldn't be too damaging, with Reflect up and a lack of status problems.

Stay strong, we're not out of this yet.

    Round 4... begin!

It's definitely getting busier here on Main Street. People are beginning to pile in and out of the buildings lining the street, and a symphony of car horns continually plays in the background (almost drowning out the ref's choice in music! O NOEZ!). Relic starts things off by spreading his scythes wide. A white veil surrounds him, and then almost immediately disappears, sinking into his skin. Relic sighs contently, knowing that he can't be affected by any more status effects. Phoebe, however, is oblivious to this. She raises her arms, and from her darts a small tendril of blue electricity. It zips across the arena, directed at Relic, but as soon as it reaches the Scyther, the electricity disappears, nullified by the Safeguard.
Both Pokemon continue on to take very similar actions. On one side of the arena, Relic summons an orange shield that wraps around him briefly before disappearing, leaving him less vulnerable to elemental attacks. Meanwhile, Phoebe summons a blue shield that does the same thing: it surrounds her and disappears, leaving her protected from physical blows.
Relic then moves on the offensive. He flutters into the air and raises his scythes, and then closes his eyes. Relic focuses on all the pain and problems the burn has been plaguing him with... When he opens his eyes again, they are burning with a fresh resolve. The Scyther flies acros the street and slashes at Phoebe hard with both scythes. Howeve, because of Phoebe's Reflect, and ironically enough, the burn, the attack doesn't do as much as it should. Phoebe then leaps into action, being carefully commanded by her trainer to Mimic Relic's last action. Phoebe closes her eyes and tries to store into her memory a picture of the Facade used... but finds that she already knows the attack. So, she... learns it again...?

    End!

My turn. Facade wasn't as powerful as I hoped, and we don't get the boost to attack, but...oh well.

Since you're so close, we might as well go for a decisive strike. Use a Hyper Beam, send Phoebe flying down the street! Then, take a break. Finish with Protect.

    Hyper Beam~Relax~Protect

However, I suspect she will Protect the beam, which will cost her some energy. If you sense that she is going to Protect, use a weaker Beam (by weak, I mean, no recharge time.) Follow up with Silver Wind. Finish with Attract.

In case of Protect 1st turn: Hyper Beam (weak)~Silver Wind~Attract

One last note- in case of super effective moves, use Double Team.

The way a reffed it was like this: Facade got one boost, from the burn. It got two drops, from the burn's attack drop and Phoebe's Reflect.

All totaled, it came out weaker than normal.

    Main Street

    (gasps)

A Hyper Beam! Phoebe, listen closely...

If it launches a full-scale Hyper Beam, use Teleport! Avoid that attack at all cost! Then use Thunderbolt while it's recharging, folowed by Imprison! Since you know Attract, that should cancel it out!

If it uses a weaker Hyper Beam and then Silver Wind, Teleport twice; then follow up with Imprison!

    Move: Teleport, Thunderolt, Imprison
    Sub: ------------, Teleport, --------------

EDIT: Does Imprison count as a "cheap" move?

Well, IMO, yeah. But since I didn't state it specifically, you had no way of knowing, so I'll let it go. Live and learn. Right now, I'm most concerned with whether my Attract goes through or not.

I'll go with however Jeff wants to ref it, he's done a great job so far.

    Round 5... begin!

The town is really starting to come alive! People are starting to swarm everywhere, and the section of the street closed off for the battle has attracted a considerable amount of spectators, who cheer loudly for their favored Pokemon. The battlers take the cheering to heart, and they jump back into battler. Relic, with a sneer on his face, draws his scythes back to his body and opens his mouth wide. Taking note of Phoebe's location, he closes his eyes and begins to charge an orange orb of energy that hovers in front of his mouth. The orb seems to radiate an aura of doom and destruction, and Phoebe notices this: not wasting a single moment, she winks out of existance, only to reappear moments later behind Relic. Relic releases the orb, which transforms into a streaming orange beam that tears down the street, causing severe damage to the road. As it tears away, Relic falls to his knees; the attack took so much energy out of him that he didn't even notice it missed.
Phoebe, now slightly smug, charges up for a powerful electric attack. Hearing the crackling behind him, Relic turns his head and sees Phoebe. Remembering his commands - to use Double Team in case of super effective moves - Relic tries to use the aforementioned attack, but is simply too exhausted at the moment to do so. Relic has no choice but to take the Thunderbolt, leaving him charred and slightly smoking.
Clambering back to his feet slowly, Relic stretches, feeling a little better. He decides to play defensive for the moment, and crouches down slightly, his body enveloped by a golden veil, rendering him temporarily invincible. Meanwhile, Phoebe closes her eyes and focuses, trying to home in on the last attack Relic used that she could potentially use as well. She arrives at one answer: the attack he just used, Protect. Phoebe opens her eyes, and, blazing with Psychic energy, raises her arms to the sky. A gigantic red 'X' falls from the sky, straight onto Relic... but due to Protect, it bounces right off. What a loss.

    End!
