Round 1... begin!
A soft breeze blows across the empty basketball court, all the basketball players having scattered for the scheduled Pokemon match. They watch from the sidelines as a trainer steps up, looking eager - he tosses a Pokeball to the ground, revealing a large, intimidating Aerodactyl. She screeches as the second trainer walks up. No newcomer to the ASB scene, the second trainer releases a Pokemon of her own - a sleek Absol, who eyes the Aerodactyl coolly. The trainers give their commands, identifying the Pokemon to the crowd as Avaren and Lyra, respectively. The Pokemon jump to the middle of the court and start brawling.
Lyra starts the match by closing her eyes and focusing, looking into the future and placing a psychic time bomb. However, her attack is interrupted by a loud, shrill screech from Avaren. Because of the way Lyra was focusing, the Supersonic doesn't exactly have its intended effect, but it cuts Lyra off early enough that her Future Sight is weakened somewhat.
Angry now, Lyra glowers at the grinning Aerodactyl and opens her mouth: from it barrels a thick gout of glowing blue water. Just before it strikes, however, Avaren zooms out of the way, flying around the Absol in quick circles, leaving the Water Pulse to fly off the battlefield and soak a passerby walking through a nearby intersection. He curses loudly and adeptly, but luckily, nobody here can hear him, all engrossed in the battle.
Using the boosted speed from her Agility, Avaren continues to fly around in circles, this time releasing a thick, purple gas. It congregates around Lyra, and due to the circular motion of Avaren, quickly becomes an intimidating purple funnel. However, a single bolt of electricity cuts through the gas, dispersing it, and strikes Avaren quickly, bringing a halt to her circular flight.

Round 2... begin!
With her speed boost still in effect from last round, Avaren starts off this round lightning-fast. Closing her eyes to focus for a moment, she charges up energy in her wings. When the Aerodactyl opens her eyes again, she is surprised to see no retaliation from Lyra, the latter having been ordered to bear the attack. Avaren grins and flaps her wings rapidly, releasing the pent up energy - several strips of solidified, razor-sharp air fly at Lyra, slicing at her fur and skin. Lyra scowls and throws small tendrils of blue electrical energy back at the Aerodactyl. The attack hits, leaving Araven paralyzed, totally negating her earlier speed boost.
Now with the speed advantage, Lyra, in the blink of an eye, fans out into a row of Absol clones... four total. All four leer at the Aerodactyl as she struggles to make her move. After a moment or two, Avaren succeeds. She opens her mouth wide and belches a steady stream of turquoise flame straight at one of the Absols. Unfortunately for her, the Absol it hits immediately vanishes into dust - as Avaren realizes, her attack only hit a clone.
The three remaining Lyras all grin and rear back, releasing three separate beams of frosty energy that converge into one. Having been told to aim for a vulnerable spot, Lyra shoots expertly for one of Avaren's wings; with the Aerodactyl slowed down, targetting properly is easy. The attack lands head-on, freezing on of Avaren's wings, and she finds herself falling to the ground. Avaren struggles to perform her Steel Wing, but her muscles lock up, preventing her from moving as she crashes into the ground.

Round 3... begin!
This round gets off to a quick start as Lyra rears up on her hind legs and summons a chilled wind. It whips through the arena, freezing everything it touches... except for Avaren. The Aerodactyl manages to summon a translucent protective shield just in time. The shield sinks into her skin, granting her temporary invulnerability, just as the Blizzard rushes past her. The shield dissipates and Avaren smirks at Lyra, who scowls in response.
Lyra, panting a little from her powerful attack, sits down to try and regain some energy. Meanwhile, Avaren tentatively lifts up her frozen wing and smashes it against the ground as hard as she can. It creates a small shockwave that ripples through the ground, knocking Lyra over (and dissipating her clones), but since the intent of the attack was to shatter the ice and not cause damage, the Earthquake is not as powerful as it normally is. The ice does, in fact, shatter, leaving Avaren free to fly once more. However, she isn't home free yet: just as the ice encasing her wing shatters, a dull rumbling alerts her to the clouds covering the sky. A hole opens up in one of them, and a Psychic beam shoots forth from it, striking the hapless Aerodactyl. Lyra, getting back to her feet, snickers as her Future Sight goes off without a hitch.
Lyra then goes on to start crackling with electrical energy. Charging for but a moment, she launches the uber-accurate Shock Wave at her foe, who is painfully trying to schieve flight. The attack hits its mark, as it always doesn, leaving behind one sizzling Aerodactyl. Avaren scowls and beats her wings harder, ignoring the paralysis in her system to hover in the sky.

Round 4... begin!
With Avaren flying in the air far above Lyra, the stakes have suddenly become sky-high... sorry, sorry, I'll stop. At any rate, the two Pokemon once again prepare for battle, even though both are beginning to tire. Avaren takes aim at Lyra, who begins charging up an attack in response. With the speed advantage, Lyra releases her attack first, while Avaren is plummeting toward her: a freezing Ice Beam, which hits head-on. However, this time, Avaren doesn't suffer any ill effects outside of becoming much more chilly, perhaps due to the distance between the two. Avaren continues her descent, translating her momentum into charged-up power at the tip of her wings and beak. She quickly flies past Lyra, slashing at her and going on to land neatly on the ground.
Now on the ground, Avaren tries to stomp her talons up and down in order to create a vicious earthquake... but unfortunately it just doesn't happen. Her muscles lock up, rendering her incapable of motion. Of course, this proves rather opportune for Lyra, who chooses to spend a few moments chilling in order to regain some energy.
Her moment of peace over, Lyra stands back up and shuts her eyes. Focusing her energy, she fans out into a row of Absols: 4 in total. Avaren tries to carry out her orders, but her muscles refuse to unlock. Once again, she finds herself unable to fulfill her orders.

Round 5... begin!
To kick off this round, Lyra summons up yet another bolt of electricity, the most common element of this match so far. Releasing it quickly, the bolt flies across the field and cripsy-fries Avaren. whose muscles lock up at a very inopportune time, rendering her incapable of dodging the super-accurate electricity or of performing her desired action. As it is, Avaren can only bear the attack out. She scowls at Lyra, who merely smirks in response.
Lyra takes a step backwards and sits down, closing her mind off from all outside distractions. Unfortunately for her, among these distractions is Avaren, who finds herself able to move once more. She glances along each of the Lyra clones in turn, trying to discern which of them is her true target... her eyes fall on the Lyra furthest to the left, and she realizes that that Lyra is indeed the only true one. Of course, Lyra is completely oblivious to this, lost completely in her meditation. After a few moments pass, Lyra reawakens, her mind and body better suited to deliver and receive elemental attacks.
Using this new found power, Lyra rears back and, from her mouth, gushes a giant gout of water, glowing an eerie blue. It flies through the sunny sky and lands a direct hit on Avaren. Avaren shakes the attack off and closes her eyes. Focusing her energy, several rocks appear from out of nowhere and hover around her. Avaren opens her eyes and gestures towards Lyra, and the rocks shoot off. They all impact with the real Lyra, making her lose her focus momentarily - all of her clones disappear.

Round 6... begin!
With both Pokemon clearly feeling the strain of the battle thus far, they nevertheless resolutely take their positions opposite each other. Lyra, not paralyzed as she is, gets the initiative, and closes her eyes, falling into a meditative trance. Avaren glowers at Lyra and spits out a number of unsavoury insults at the Absol, including a fair bit about her weight, her looks, and her mother. Unfortunately, as a consequence of the meditation Lyra is currently in, the insults just bounce right off. Lyra opens her eyes, oblivious to the unsuccessful attack, her elemental power raised even more.
Avaren tries to swoop over to Lyra and viciously bite her, in a manner befitting a vampire bat, but unfortunately, her muscles freeze again, keeping her from doing anything at all. Lyra waits this out, as her orders suggested waiting until Avaren got closer, but after a moment, she decides to just do it anyway: raising her head high, Lyra summons a brutally cold wind. It whips through the arena, fueled by a double elemental burst, until it reaches Avaren, at which point it spirals around her and delivers a chilling blow. With no way to move, Avaren has no choice but to take the attack.
Following on the heels of her successful attack, Lyra does the same thing again... but for some reason, the attack seems slightly weaker. As Avaren bears out the attack, she suddenly sees the reason why: the effort required to use powerful attacks like Blizzard over and over again has completely drained Lyra's energy. Her trainer recalls her as the round ends.

Round 7... begin!
The battle reaches its approximate halfway point as The Missing Link steps in to summon her next Pokemon. Tossing her Pokeball to the ground, she sends out an energetic and obviously ready to go Bulbasaur, affectionately nicknamed Apollo. With Avaren on her last legs, this could very well be her last round, but it's obvious she's prepared to go down fighting. Apollo strikes first, grunting and shaking his bulb to summon up a flurry of sharp-edged leaves. Individually, each leaf doesn't pack much of a punch, but cumulatively, the attack can add up. With a slow target, Apollo lands the hit easily, the Razor Leaf opening up cuts all over the Aerodactyl's body. Avaren counters by merely grinning. A dark aura seems to surround her, but it doesn't seem to have any immediate effect.
However, that effect would soon be realized. Apollo prepares to repeat his successful attack, but a dark aura, similar to the one surrounding Avaren mere moments ago, surrounds him, blocking him from doing another Razor Leaf. Avaren snickers and prepares her attack: beating her wings viciously, she creates a localized whirlwind. It whips across the arena, picking up the odd piece of litter here and there, until it reaches Apollo. It picks him up and tosses him around, eventually throwing him hard against the ground. When the Bulbasaur lands, he seems rather disoriented (not to mention hurt).
However, he's apparently not disoriented enough to not attack. Momentarily free of the Torment, Apollo launches another storm of leaves. This time, however, it's even easier to hit his target. As has happened fairly regularly throughout the match, Avaren's muscles lock tight, preventing her from moving. As such, Apollo still manages to land a solid hit (even though his aim was thrown off because of his dizziness), opening up the gashes covering Avaren even more.

Round 8... begin!
Before this round begins, Vermillion calls a time out. He quickly recalls his Aerodactyl and sends out a fresh Pokemon to take its place: Frost, the male Snorunt. With two Pokemon at roughly full health, the battle continues.
Apollo begins by summoning a translucent shield. The barrier surrounds him and sinks into his skin, leaving the Bulbasaur more resistant to elemental attacks. However, this does not protect him from the brilliant burst of light loosed by Frost. The Flash attack leaves Apollo stumbling, even more disoriented than he was previously.
Apollo tries to clear his head, but he can't do so quickly enough: Frost creeps up close next to him and begins to sing a soothing lullaby. With Apollo out of sorts, he easily falls prey to the attack and slips into a deep sleep.
This, of course, gives Frost an easy target. With Apollo completely out of commission for the moment, Frost charges up a large orb of shadow energy at his leisure. Frost fires it off, and the attack hits solidly. Apollo shudders a bit, but the attack does not wake him from his slumber.

Round 9... begin!
With this battle now halfway over, the music playing in the background screeches to an abrubt halt. All eyes point to the ref, who is subtly trying to change the CD; he shrugs and wanders back down to the field. The Pokemon (well, Frost at any rate) return their attention to the battle. Frost kicks things off by summoning a brilliant white veil. It surrounds him and then sinks into his skin, protecting him from status-changing attacks. Apollo begins to mumble in his sleep... but from Frost's perspective, nothing happens. Unbeknownst to him, however, Apollo has managed to erect a life-sized replica out of him in his sleep. The Substitute sits on the field, awaiting attack.
It was not disappointed. Frost goes ahead with his attack - he summons an eerie orb of dark ooze. It hovers in front of him momentarily before zipping across the field and nailing the Substitute dead on. It pops into the air and falls back to the earth, still intact. Meanwhile, the real Apollo begins to mumble in his sleep again. This time, he jumps out from behind the substitute, still asleep, and tackles Frost hard, using the Bulbasaur's rage as fuel. However, being asleep, Apollo is rather calm, so the Rage doesn't deal that much damage.
As Apollo resumes his location behind the Substitute, Frost trains his eye on the aforementioned doll. Charging up for but a moment, he shoots a blast of ice at it; the attack lands solidly, but thanks to Apollo's elemental resistance, the Ice Beam is slightly weakened - certainly not enough to break the Substitute. Meanwhile, Apollo mumbles in his sleep once more. This time, a protective wall appears around him and his Substitute. The orange shield - a Light Screen - fades away, but not before bestowing its elemental resistance to the pair.

Round 10... begin!
With Apollo still sleeping like a baby, Frost takes the opportunity to summon a batch of vapor-thin Frost clones. They stand in a line facing Apollo, 5 Frosts in total. Meanwhile, Apollo once again begins to murmer in his sleep. The Sleep Talk attack triggering something in his brain, the Bulbasaur rears up on his hind legs and jumps at Frost, socking the Snorunt hard in the area where his chin would be. Luckily for Apollo, in his sleepy stupor, his Secret Power managed to hit the real Frost. In the resulting shock, not only does a surprised Frost drop all of his clones, but Apollo also manages to wake up.
With his foe still slightly groggy, however, Frost takes the opportunity to jump up in the air, spraying a stream of jagged metal spikes that litter the ground between him and Apollo. Apollo regards this with a sleepy eye before summoning a protective veil. The white shield vanishes almost instantly, but in reality, it still surrounds the Bulbasaur, protecting him from adverse status effects.
Frost then prepares his next attack: a powerful Body Slam. As he dashes at Apollo, however, he realizes the folly in this: the spikes he just threw down are hurting him as well. With the spikes pricking him and making him lose some momentum, the Body Slam he finally manages to land on Apollo is merely a shadow of what the attack could have done. As if to add insult to injury, Apollo only lands the blow on the Substitute, which still stands, due to the low power of the resulting attack. However, this also leaves Frost in a perfect spot to receive a point-blank Razor Leaf flurry, courtesy of Apollo.
