Decent moveset, but there are better pogeys in terms of attack. Lickitung's attack is surprisingly poor, even compared to his sp atk (go figure).

I personally, adore Marowak as my SDer, even thought it cant learn screech which is really not necessary. Also, Hyper Beam is terrible. Two EQs can do way more than one hyper beam, plus, the recharging turn will leave you vulnerable, and in competitive play, toast. Double Team is also not my personal first choice, unless we are dealing with an SDJask. I'm sure one of the more experienced team raters will elaborate.

I've got a feeling that "SDJask" refers to Ninjask. If so, you need to be reminded that this is the RBY board. In fact, speaking of this being the RBY board, Hyper Beam doesn't need a recharge turn if it KOs the target. Yeah, things were funny that way back in RBY.

Still, having only Hyper Beam as an attack does seem a little risky to me. Also, if I remember correctly, Normal attacks can't get STAB. ...Or was that implemented after RBY?

Either way, it does seem a tad risky...

EDIT: Not to mention that since this takes awhile to set up, you're left very vulnerable if your opponent also DTs. With 90% accuracy and a recharging period required even if you miss (correct me if I'm wrong on that), your opponent will get somewhere around two chances to hit you for every one shot you get. So having Hyper Beam as the only attack in your moveset (not to mention the overall theme of it) is really risky.

And does the power calculation really work that way for stat increases/decreases? I always thought it had something to do with level, rather than simply multiplying the stats...

No, you will not have to recharge if you miss.

If not Hyper Beam, then perhaps swift?

    and as for your questions...

Normal attacks DO get STAB. The strategy guide was talking about NON-NORMALS using NORMAL attacks.

And KG: Then just use a Swift Dancing Sandslash.
