So, I was just thinking if anyone knows why. When Red, Blue and Yellow came out. Pokemon were pretty standard and boring. Only had one or two sets, you didn't have to do any EV's or IV's training. You didn't have to think about Items, and moves didn't always work correctly. Like a Fearow with Whirlwind only worked ingame, but in linked battles and Stadium, they never switched out. Soon we moved onto G/S/C, where Whirlwinders and Roars works fabulously people were blowing them to prevent a possible attack from hurting them, or a Toxic attack annoying them, or a Spike attack hurting them. and now in R/S/E, we spikem, poision them, raise attack stats and sweep. And use Item more carefully.

My question is has anyone noticed the progress of pokemon uin the years. The worse ones got better. Like Aerodactyl sucked in R/B/Y, but in G/S/C, got earthquake and ancient power killing of it's glaring weakness to Gengar and Rhydon and Golem. Poisons got better with the attack of Sludge Bomb. Heal Bells came into play.

Do you think Nintendo knew what they were doing when making pokemon for marketing reasons, or did they just do this too toy with us?
