Ok Xerxes, start off with Sandstorm. Next, when Shuppet tries to use toxic, use Mud-Slap to absorb the toxic and hopefully hit Shuppet with it's own poison. Finish off by burying Shuppett with Rock Slide.

*Battle*
In the middle of a huge desert, four forms appear with a flash of white light. Two eager battle-ready trainers, a lavender-haired referee, and the ref's Ralts, Jade, who had teleported them to this battlefield. After thanking her Pokemon, she recalls the Ralts into her ball. She looks over and the guys are giving their first orders.

Xerxes, the Baltoy, who looks completely at home in the desert, wastes no time in conjuring up a large Sandstorm (-3%EP). Since there is so much sand, it becomes incredibly hard for Hanajima to find her tan foe. However, she begins to charge a ghostly Shadow Ball (-5%EP), and when the dark purple orb is ready, the Shuppet blindly fires it off. but it explodes prematurely thanks to the sand hitting it, but Xerxes is caught in it's radius. (-5%HP)

Next, Hanajima gathers poision from inside herself and spits Toxic in Xerxes's direction (-6%EP), but again, the Sandstorm interferes with her, and blows the Toxic in all directions, missing both combatants. The Baltoy grins, as he watches the ghost struggle in the enviroment that he himself has no problems in. He can see perfectly fine! To prove his point, he goes right up to her and kicks sand in her face. (3%EP;5%HP)

Xerxes's smugness doesn't last for long though... His trainer told him to use Rock Slide, but there are no rocks, only sand... (+3%EP) Hanajima sees her oppertunity to get rid of this blasted dusty weather, and she opts to pray for a nice cool rain, and receives it. (4%EP) However, she's pretty battered by all the sand...(-4%HP)

Shuppet's Ability is insomnia, she can't be put to sleep. I don't have any experiance with Shuppet, but if she is able to float above the ground (and that's not her listed Ability) than it's legal, as it would be legal to tell your bird Pokemon to fly around without making it the Fly attack. *goes to make sure Shuppet can actually float* ^^

Edit: Actually, just to be totally sure, I'll ask them in the reffing tower about its legality, but I believe I've seen it before in other battles...

As the second round begins, the Baltoy glances down and uses his terrakinetic powers to force the ground below to tremble. (-6EP) He looks back up and is stunned to see the Shuppet hovering safely off the ground. Xerxes and his trainer had not realized that Shuppet don't touch the ground, and Hanajima had risen an inch higher than usual and taken this time to catch her breath while laughing inside at her grounded foe. (+3EP)

Hanajima, whose eyes are cleared thanks to the rain, starts to charge yet another Shadow Ball (-5EP) and this time it connects with Xerxes dead-on. (-8HP) All Xerxes can do for revenge is cause a second harmless quake. (-6EP)

In exasperation, Xerxes makes the ground shake one last time. {-6EP) Hanajima assaults him once more with her ghostly ball. (-5EP;8HP)

Well, let's start off with another Sandstorm. More wet sand=good. Follow up with Psybeam. Then, when Shuppet disappears for Faint Attack start spinning in place with Rapid Spin, lobbing sand in all directions and when Shuppet strikes you your spinning should deflect her attack off to the side.

With the disaster that was the last round in mind, Xerxes quickly whips up a second sandstorm that halts the rain. (-3EP) As she is pelted with sloppy, soggy stuff, Hanajima's amusment starts to fade, but she remembers how pathetic Baltoy looked earlier, and even though her vision is once again obscured, she manages a decent assault. (- 6EP;6HP)

Now it's the battle of the beams. The ghost-type manages to get her black Night Shade out first, and scores another hit. (-3EP;5HP) Fate (in the form of a RNG ) must be smiling on the Shuppet. The Ground-Psychic counters with a bright multi-colored beam of his own. (-3EP;5HP)

Hanajima seems to disappear, but Xerxes isn't worried. He knows what to do. He looks a little bizarre, like a top, as he starts to spin in place. Hanajima moves in for her attack (-5EP), but Fate has other plans, as she is punched and knocked away. (-6EP;4HP)

Meanwhile the Sandstorm rages on. (-4HP)

Ok Xerxes, well done. Now, start off with a Cosmic Power to boost your defenses. Next, Shuppet really doesn't like the sand so grab a nice large glob of all the wet sand floating around using Psychic and try to bury Shuppet with it. If Shuppet's successfully underneath the sand then give it an Earthquake, otherwise just launch off another Psybeam.

While Xerxes Cosmic Powers, use Psychic to make a shield out of sand to brace yourself against his next attack. Try to use Double Team while in the shield, but if you don't think you have the mental power, don't bother. Once the attack passes, take apart the shield and use Double team to try and avoid Psybeam.

Xerxes starts the round off in a rather dazzling way - his body turns as black as the midnight sky, with several twinkles of stars in it as his defensive qualities skyrocket.

Meanwhile, Hanajima closes her eyes and concentrates, a transparent shield appearing around her body. Bits of wet sand being flung around in the storm cling to the shield, providing Hanajima with a barrier of mud and psionic energy. Xerxes responds by by glowing whitish-blue; a large mass of sand lifts up off the ground and avalanches over Hanajima, who focuses more Psychic energy on the shield to combat the weight of the sand. Hanajima begins to sweat - she can't keep this up much longer...

Meanwhile, Xerxes smiles evilly... oh, wait. He has no mouth.

...

Well, whatever - his body glows an earthen brown nonetheless; the whole desert begins to shake, until eventually the mass of sand before him collapses in on itself.

A few moments later, a mud-spattered Shuppet groggily rises from the pile of sand, like a zombie from some crappy old horror movie. Hanajima shakes herself off, and then she glows a soft white. Two copies appear by her sides - and then, they warp and vanish as the rain and sand hit them. Bummer...

Hanajima begins the round somewhat subtly - her eyes glow jet-black for a second, as does Xerxes' whole body; the glow fades a second later, as though it'd never been there. Xerxes' shudders slightly, while Hanajima simply smirks.

...What? Hanajima doesn't have a mouth either? Son of a...

Uh, anyway, Xerxes responds by raising his arms and conjuring a black ball of energy that he hurls at Hanajima; the Ghost's eyes glow blue, as does the Shadow Ball, which flies askew and explodes against a cactus.

Unfazed, Xerxes settles down and waits for Hanajima to make a move. He waits...

And waits...

And waits...

Finally, the clay Pokemon grunts in annoyance, as if to say 'Screw it.' - he glows a faint white; a second later, a copy of himself appears on either of his sides... and then, the left and middle Baltoy vanish in the rain and mud. The remaining Baltoy pauses, and then, a wave of pure darkness slams into him, knocking him ten feet across the mud. He gets up...

...And then, his eyes glow blue; a split-second later, a mass of sand erupts in front of Hanajima and crashes down on her, burying her again.

Xerxes starts the round off by leaping up into the air, and then dropping down, spinning like a drill as he jettisons at the sand. Across the field, Hanajima erupts from the sand and rises into the air, seconds before the sandy arena beneath him begins to shake and tumble. That was close...

Xerxes responds by glowing that same eerie star-studded black again, his defense climbing off the charts. Across the field, Hanajima closes her eyes and descends onto the sand, snoring softly.

Across the field, Xerxes grunts and settles down, hoping to gain back some of his energy...

But before he can, Hanajima suddenly zooms at him in her sleep, shrieking fearsomely right in Xerxes' face. Shuppet are natural-born Astonishers, and Hanajima is no exception - heck, she's so intimidating, she even Astonishes in her sleep!

Both Pokemon decide to take this time to get back some strength. The Ground-Psychic decides to suck the life out of his sleeping opponent's dreams. He latches his mind onto hers and watches as Hanajima meets her trainer for the first time...oh, how touching...and tasty...

Hanajima cries out as some kind of shadow engulfs her trainer and swallows him up. In an attempt to get revenge, the ghost unleashes a Thunderbolt! This jerked her awake.

Content with what he'd done, Xerxes settles into the cool sand for a nap of his own. Hanajima watches him and takes a moment to breathe.

Both Pokemon are perfectly happy to end the round recouperating. and the sandy breeze stings Hanajima once again.
