Overview: So, the preliminaries are over, and May's in the first round of 64 trainers. Time for more appeals...

Aside from May's display, I really didn't think this was any better than the preliminaries. (I was almost surprised she made it past the prelims relying on a single Sky Uppercut, but this time she did really well.) It seems she's finally posing a threat to some of the top coordinators, and Drew's noticing. Good to see that reaction, too. Maybe it's just me, but I like to see how characters are imperfect. A little irrational, perhaps, but we all get that way sometimes. Excellent scene.

Also, good battle between May and Harley in the second round. I like how May had to deduce Wigglytuff's weakness, and the way in which she exploited it was also skillful. Great match overall. Still a little surprised that May, Drew, and Soledad all won by TKO, but it makes some sense considering how they stand out from the crowd. Now, May's in the top eight, fighting Drew in the quarterfinals...

Summary: Great episode, overall. Would've liked a little more focus on the first round appeals, but it was still high-quality with some great battles, tactics, and character development. Pokemon episodes don't get much better than this.
