Stuck in eternal limbo at the intro

So, the battery of my Silver cartridge is dead.
Upside: I didn't have to wait for myself to finally transfer the Pokémon I wanted to started with to Crystal (including bred Pokémon as Machop and Magby).

Downside: I can start playing, even "save", but if I shut down and restart, the saved data is erased.

Any possible 1/2/3-step solution plan of cost price around €3 or less, other than buying a new game (which would exceed said cost price anyway)?
