So guys, DS discussion thread.

I like my DS, much better than my Wii, and I was considering these two games as my next two:

Fire Emblem
Time Hollow

I know Fire Emblem has been done to death and a lot of the games don't have a lot of original twists, but I enjoy beefing up my characters and making them death machines. Priscilla for example.

But, been playing New Super Mario again. I've never actually played this as Mario. I like Luigi more. But TWEWY you still brill.

I'm currently working through Professor Layton and the Curious Village; not so much a game as a series of interesting puzzles and brain-teasers, but quite enjoyable and charmingly animated. Great for making long train journeys go quicker.

...On that note, what model DOES everyone have? I used to have my graduation gift of an original DS as well as a more modern DS Lite, but the latter plummeted 50 feet to its doom earlier this year, leaving me with the original. :,(

Right. Anyway, games. My DS, like my Game Boy Color and GBA-whatever-letters before it, is pretty neglected. Games have come and gone like with all my consoles, yeah (I'd sell Sonic Chronicles and Ninja Gaiden DS again if I could, and don't even ASK what happened to Yoshi's Island DS...), but it's currently pretty bare, with my only games for it still in my possession being NSMB, Pokemon Diamond, Sonic Rush, TWEWY, and Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.

I wanna add to my collection, but fickle bastard that I am, the only titles out right now that I'd like are Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, MAYBE LOZ: Phantom Hourglass, and the insanely, ungodly, ABSYMALLY FUCKING RARE Contra 4.

Seriously. I've been to 2 Toys 'R Us's, 4 Gamestops, and a Radioshack. WHY IS THIS GAME SO FUCKING HARD TO FIND?!?!?!?!

I still have my original red DS that I got with Mariokart DS. Still have the game, too. I haven't been able to get any new games so I'm stuck with just Pokemon Diamond, Pokemon Ranger (really need to get rid of it), LoZ: Phantom Hourglass, Animal Crossing: WW, Mariokart DS, and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin.

I would love to get Final Fantasy Tactics A2 and Chrono Trigger.

I have only Super Mario Kart DS, Super Mario 64 DS and Chocobo Tales.

Haven't played Super Mario Kart for ages. 64 DS is still unfinished mainly because I didn't get the Vanish Cap for some odd reason. Yes, I'm a loser.

Chocobo Tales, on the other hand, has this Mini Red Riding Hood adventure. I'm stuck there because I just can't help touching the electricity. I have this friend of mine whose little brother is an excellent gamer. So I asked him to try it and he succeeded on the second try! Later, I noticed I'd still have to complete the volume once more but I haven't met the kid so I'm stuck again.

I LOVE my DS, my games would be Digimon World Dusk, Metroid Prime:Hunters, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team, FIFA 08, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, FF3, and I am gettig PKMN Ranger SOA, POkemon Platinum, Mario Kart DS, Lego Batman, and Twilight if they make a DS version...

I just got myself a DS Lite (in silver) for Christmas, so far, the games I have for it are Pokemon Diamond, Pokemon Pearl, New Super Mario Bros. (my brother has a DS of his own too, and he has NSMB as well), and Kirby Super Star Ultra.

There are a few games that I'm hoping to eventually buy someday, Pokemon Platinum is the big one, but I've also considered Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart DS, and Kirby Squeak Squad among other games, so I guess we'll see where that goes.

I have a DS Lite! A pink one... OH THE SHAME I gave in to my genes for one second and bought it. Plus they only had one other in the shop, and it was a white one, which are disgusting. So. Mine has a FFIV protector case though, which automatically makes it more badass. And a Mew dangly thing with a little bell on.

I have... lessee, FFIV (got for crimbo!), Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, Elite Beat Agents, Pokemon Pearl, FFXII: Revenant Wings and my bf's completed FFIII and Chocobo Tales. I used to have Pokemon Ranger, but I flogged it cos it was rubbish. Also had my OWN FFIII too, but flogged that cos it was hard.

Personally, I've wanted to play Phoenix Wright since it came out, but it's still SO expensive! I also want a horrific cheesy awfully hilarious-looking Japanese game called Dual Love. Something about wiping sweat off pretty boys, I dunno. Pretty-lookin'.

Oh yeah, I bought the Full Metal Alchemist game... don't do that. It sucked SO much I sold it a week later. I'd have stuck with it if it wasn't just a carbon copy of the anime's story, with masses and masses of bulk text to read. But nooo.

I'm not sure what I think about the DSi. The lack of back-compatibility pisses me off on so many consoles, I don't think I'll bother. Plus I love my DS Lite.

As for games....Nintendogs (it came with the machine ), Bomberman DS, Worms and Pokemon Diamond. Not many but tbh Pokemon rarely leaves the slot

I still have the original DS, once the DSi comes out, it'll be time to upgrade I figure.

My games include Tetris DS, Planet Puzzle League (same thing as Tetris Attack), Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros., Sonic Rush, and of course Pokemon Diamond, among a few others. In my DS right now I have Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia in the DS slot, and oddly enough, my bother's Sapphire version in the GBA slot. He must have been playing it when he couldn't find his DS.

I have a (currently) Japanese exclusive metallic rose colour DS lite, I used to have the Japanese Navy blue one when it first came out, but the screen started to lose it's responsivness, possibly due to my hardcore playing of Ouendan and EBA. I gave my old original DS to my Dad. I have and have had more games than I could ever remember, but I don't buy games for it anymore.

I'm not too bothered about the DSi to be honest, I was excited for the lite, but I just don't really care about the i, there's nothing about it that I particularly need or want that I don't get from my current DS.

The only thing that interests me about the i is that its apparently got a more up to date wireless card. The DS is currently using one that isnt compatibile with many of todays Routers and has trouble with alot of the security.

The DSi is gonna be more up to date and compatible apparently.

The DS has been confirmed for April 5 in the US at $169.99.

Also, another interesting bit of info:

In addition to downloadable games, Nintendo DSi is able to play games made specifically for the system and sold at retail. The system can also play most Nintendo DS™ games, and will have access to a library of more than 850 titles originally made for that system.

So it sounds like there will be DSi-exclusive games in game card form.

It just occurred to me that by "most" the article was probably referring to the fact that the Guitar Hero on Tour games can't be played on the DSi. But yeah, I'll be hanging onto my old DS for pal parking purposes anyway.

I wouldn't really say they're forcing you. DSI has been out for months in Japan and there isn't a single DSI only cart. I think it will be like the gameboy color. It wasn't until years after it came out before they started making games you couldn't play on an old gameboy. So maybe in a few years you'll need to shell out.

No, in a few years, they'll actually put the GBA slot on it and make up some lie about advancements in technology that allowed them to do so, exactly the same as what Sony did with the new Dualshock.

I'm sticking with my DS Lite for now. I don't see any reason to upgrade apart from some poxy cameras. Besides, what original GB Games were REALLY that good you would be compelled to buy again? The only one I would:

I'd buy a ton of old Gameboy/Gameboy Color games. Mario Land: 6 Golden Coins, Wario Land 1-3, Zelda: Links Awakening, Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Seasons, Metroid 2, Tetris DX, Pokemon, Final Fantasy Legends, and Dragon Warrior Monsters.

I'd buy/download a shitload of 'em too, simply 'cuz - you guessed it - GameBoy is a console I never even scratched the surface of as a kid. Sans Pokemon, I never played any game that PNT just listed, as well as countless, COUNTLESS others.

I would definitely buy Kirby's Dreamland 2 and the first and second Super Mario Land. Probably Pokemon Pinball, just to make another billion-point high score and then rub my brother's face in it.

I suppose I've already played a ton of original GB Games. And their subsequent remakes. They were good for their time, but after playing New Super Mario Bros, I would not go back to Super Mario Land or the DK Lands either.

Hey, before this thread turns totally DSi, lemme chip in some things:

I was at Circuit City yesterday for one of their going-out-of-business sales, and I got 3 games for only $26. Two of them were DS games that you rarely hear about.

First is Hotel Dusk: Room 215. ATM, it's kinda slow for me, but if you like Phoenix Wright, you'll really wanna check this out. It's like Ace Attorney meets Dead to Rights (complete with minigames, but they actually FIT and are FUN this time!). Go try it.

Second is a puzzle game called Prism: Light the Way. It has a set number of puzzles (120), but it has several modes. If nothing else, it's worth a rent. Check it out if you like puzzle games and/or bright colors.

That is all. You may now resume your high-tech DS-camera and GBA-slotless lives.

Hotel Dusk you don't hear much about now just because it's old. The game didn't have any marketing budget around it, but someone in EGM gave the game a 10 so that turned quite a few heads.

My first DS Lite was, unfortunately, stolen. Still want it back, even though it's almost a year... Still, I'm satisfied with my second DS Lite. Might get the DSi for games that I've only played on an emulator before or games that I've heard we're pretty good. As for right now, I'm content with playing Shadow Dragon and, eventually, Platinum and maybe Stardust Accelerator for that small part inside of me that's still a duelist, when they both come out. Other than those games, I'll continue playing games I've kept just for replaying purposes or just because I like them for some odd reason, like the original Star Force game and Mario Kart DS.

Im for sur gettin the dsi when it comes out and they hav made advancements cause now they can make a digger ds card wit more memory to be able to hav better graphics and longer stoeylines

Just stick to your ordinary DS for now. DSi is really overhyped. Other than the additional camera function and software upgrade, I do not really see any advantage in me buying the set. Of course even in Japan when it cost around 18 900 Yen, which rounds up to around S$315. Overpriced IMO to some extent and definitely not worth the money.

Now the only logical move would be for us to wait for the DSi game releases and see how would the new games incorporated the new functions into play. If it doesn't I am officially sticking to my DS Lite and dumping the idea of owning a DSi.
