Master Trainer
The Verdict- Summer and Spring '08 (Spoilers included)
As my assignments slight begin to decrease due to the incoming end semester examinations, I had found time rushing to complete watching most of my regular anime intake especially having to left them out for the past few months or so. Yes, I know my lifestyle is boring. >.<; But instead of just plainly opening each topic and posting my evaluation of each titles, I decided to open up one topic and post them in one shot.
Spring '08
Title: Code Geass R2
Evaluation: The total series was very well done. From the beginning of the second season till the ending, I had wrongly predicted almost all of the plot. My past predictions include that Lelouch's sister, Nunnally possessed another form of Geass and another more outrageous one would be for Suzaku to go berserk and kamikaze with Lelouch. My only prediction that came true was the fact that Lelouch eventually murdered his dad, the current king of Britainnia.
Even till the end, the series never ceases to amaze me further when both rivals join forces for the first time to create the Zero requiem, the plan in fact Lelouch congregates all the hatred that the world has onto himself before faking his death.
Title: Vampire Knight
Evaluation: A typical shoujo anime styled ending. One thing is for sure that the anime followed very closely to the manga. However since the manga has not finished its plot, the anime then closes its chapter for the first season when they promptly revealed Zero's family murderer. But a big spoiler ahead for those who hadn't read the manga, the overall villain for the anime would not appear until the second season arrive. Zero's family murderer is only a portion of the minor plot that will further developed the story further.
Title: Class Special A
Evaluation: Another shoujo anime but this series is more comedic than Vampire Knight, which takes a more serious stand. As much as I watched this series, the plot looks like it had slight resemblance of Ouran High School Host Club. Even though with the similarities in both plot and genre, the latter still wins as SA pales a lot in comparison with it.
Firstly, the practical jokes made in SA is quite stale. Nothing refreshing was noticed. The main character, Hikaru, was portrayed as a ridiculous physically strong woman. This itself had already thrown me off the track. The male lead, Kei, on the other hand was like super cool yeah like an typical rich bastard kid. The saving grace was probably the side characters like the Twins and Ryu, the animal lover.
Summer '08
Title: Sekieri
Evaluation: The series is a direct summary of your manga. Like what they had done with Rosario+Vampire is that they had cramped all those 68 manga chapters into 12 episodes, hence resulting in like tons of loopholes within the story itself. My five cents worth of review would advise anybody who consider watching this anime to stop it instantly and start reading the manga instead. Of course, if you are those perverted that would ogled at big- busted anime ladies then feel free to continue watching it.
Title: Natsume Yuujinchou
Evaluation: When it comes to the supernatural genre, there is no way for one to forget about Mokke. Mokke, one of last year's Winter releases, that left me with the deepest impression after Wolf and Spices. Watching Natsume Yuujinchou had me compared its plot with Mokke and the apparent difference is that one focuses more into family relationship with the former talks more on making friends with the supernatural.
Though the series is run at a considerably slow pace (Still consider faster if you compared it with Aria's three seasons), I still enjoyed the show till the end. The only pity is that it ended just after thirteen. The series would have been better if the story is extended for at least another 13 more.
Title: Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu
Evaluation: Like what I had already mentioned under a different topic, the otaku this time round for this series happens to be a lady. Yes, a freaking and disgustingly rich lady, whose hobby is being anime otaku. Well there is nothing wrong with that, but her dad thinks otherwise since being an otaku doesn't sits well with the family's reputation. But eventually, the love with an ordinary male student becomes her courage to take the first step in resisting her dad and finally won the battle.
The series just barely averages out. If you had asked me, I would rather put my time into watching Densha Otoko again. -.-
Title: World Destruction
Evaluation: This one freaking awesome fantasy genre anime with original concept. The series talks much on the beastmen's conquest over human kind and enslaved them literally. The female lead hated the world so much that she decides to seek for the Destruct Code and revert the world into ashes. Of course, there is a surprisingly twist to its ending.
The Destruct Code eventually turns out not to be the equipment that she had been carrying on with her all the while. But the male lead, Kirie, becomes the unexpected 'Destruct Code' when it turns out that he is the immortal human that would destroyed the world and reduce it to ashes. Good ending for these types of anime as usual but I guessed I have to play its game to know about the plot more.
I still have not completed watching, Macross Frontier and Soul Eater. This list will continue after I had finished up with them.
