Pretty nifty trailer, Brian! I like how you use that mythos. I can't wait to see how Duel Runners are connected to monsters under the bed.![]()
. . . . . . . . . .
You know how, when you were a little kid, you saw monsters? You know what I mean, don't you? At night, when you huddled under the covers, you saw them... Under your bed, in your closet, behind your dresser, lurking just out of sight...
If you turned on the light, they'd flee for cover. They didn't like the light much, it seemed. But they'd be back. Sometimes, they'd get bold, and creep towards you just as you fell asleep...
Then, your dreams would turn scary. You'd wake up, and scream. They'd run for cover again, and your mom or dad would rush in. They'd hug you to comfort you, and promise never to let any ugly monsters get you.
As you got older, you saw less and less of them. Eventually, you matured, and they disappeared completely. You soon came to the conclusion that they had only existed in your imagination, and you had been a fool for letting them scare you.
I'm an adult now, and I just found out I wasn't a fool. And it never was my imagination.
The monsters were real. They always have been. And they're a threat to children and adults alike. Parents can do nothing to protect anyone from them.
Fortunately, I just met a group of guys who can...
The crazy part is... If everything works out, I'm going to be joining them...

Just for my trailer, PancaKe. Some fanfic writers start these trailer threads when they are planning a serious fic (like mine intends to be).
"How did I get these powers? Well gee, my name might be an indication.
"I have six brothers. All of them are older than me. I tended to get a lot of hand-me-downs when I was a kid. My father also had six brothers, and they were all older than him. You can just imagine what Chistmases are like for my family.
"Now, you may say that having a big family wouldn't make anyone all that special. But I was in a strange situation, being the seventh son of a seventh son. Legends say that such men would come to possess strange sight, being able to look inward, and see the world in ways that others couldn't.

"A lot of folks, friends and enemies alike, ask me, how can I survive when so much of my strategy depends on luck?
"Well, let me ask you something... What duelist's stratetgy hasn't depended on luck?
"Sure, there are a lot of things that go into a winning duelist... Inborn ability, good deck construction, and maybe a little faith... But no-one can predict just what card he'll draw at any given time, and what hand he'll be given.
"So I figured I would take it a step further. If I was going to depend on luck from the start, I might as well depend on it all the way.
"As to how I can survive... I've done so this long, haven't I?"

Wow, the main character used a gamble deck? This is a bit interesting.

Seems interesting, I'm eager to read it. Eventhough I don't like Gamble decks, I'm intrigued on how he'll manage. Ofcourse, in fiction you can give a twist, but we'll see.
Actually, MLG, Terry Pratchett borrowed the theme from an old pagan belief that dates back several centuries that stated that such men could become powerful wizards under certain conditions. There are many legends and superstitions surrounding seventh sons, some good, some bad, depending on which faith you belong to. Seven is considered a magical number in most cultures. I'm just using the same theme for the origin of one of my characters.
And some of us like to merely start things, instead of the huffing and the puffing. Too much of the huffing and the puffing- Artist name bigger then the title, cheep binding...
-_- *is re-binding such a book right now*

".....Congratulations. You're the KROOOOOOOZE of female weeaboos. -w-;;;" -Blademaster about my Dragonball Z summary of what I know.
“A lot of folks who see me duel often ask me, ‘What do you have against Light Monsters?’ Well, the truth is, nothing, really, at least not against Light Monsters in general.
“The thing is, most people equate Light with benevolence. After all, so many Fairies and other divine Monsters are Light. Well, it’s a stereotype, and it isn’t always accurate. Most good Monsters are indeed Light, but not all Light Monsters are good. A few years ago, I met some of the wickedest, most hideous Monsters you might ever imagine, and they were Light… Incredibly evil Light, which would sear the flesh off of you and blind your eyes.
“The duelist who used these things was just as evil, and he almost killed me. But I beat him, barely, and he’s gone. His Monsters are gone too…
“But I know in my heart that those things may still be out there somewhere… The servants of the Light of Ruin… And that’s why I built my deck the way I did. If their slimy tendrils ever reach into this city again… I’m going to be prepared.”

I'm not a YGO fan, so I've never really read YGO fics at all, but this sounds interesting. I must warn you, as Houndoom_Lover mentioned, that the more and more you place this fic on a big pedestal, the more pressure there is for you to make it the most immaculate thing in the forum. I've no doubt it will be a great fic, I just wonder if four seperate 'trailers' are necessary.

“Who am I? Gee, I wish I had a colorful story to tell you. I only wish I had gotten powers from an odd position in my family like Shichiro, or had uncanny luck like Jinx, or had once vanquished a group of notorious creatures like Gears.
“I wish had Yusei Fudo’s uncanny abilities, or Jack Atlas’s great sense of strategy, or Aki Izayoi’s strange powers. But all I really have is what someone said I have, and that’s potential. That and being fortunate enough to see what most people don’t see.
“Of course, that in itself isn’t bad. All of the folks I just mentioned may have started out with little more except potential. But they all had something else as well to help them, be it their past, inborn ability, or an incredibly powerful Dragon that no-one else has. I have nothing like that. Just a deck I put together and potential.
“Can potential alone make me a hero? I don’t know. But because of what I can see that others can’t, I have little choice but to try.
“I’ve entered a whole new world that I didn’t know was there before. And I have to do my best to survive in it…”
