Where is Chris the Master to save the day ;.;
Ok.....Brandy's computer is now the one giving me trouble. The other day it was working just fine and then all of a sudden that afternoon I now have the error message "Disk Boot Failure, insert system disk and press enter." I've got no discs in either DVD drive so I know that's not the problem. When I get to Windows setup and try recovery console it can't find my MBR and when I tried to bite the bullet and do a clean reinstall of Windows I'm told that no previous version of Windows can be found and that I need the full version of XP in order to upgrade (the disc I have is apparently some kind of copy of an upgrade CD)
How fucked am I? lol
Oh I also checked the cables going to the HDD and while I'm no major expert those seem fine. I've got one going for the HDD to the motherboard and another going into the power supply casing

which version of xp/vista is it and is it oem (came with computer) or retail (bought)?
Its windows xp media edition, and the first time I got this error message it was the one that came with the computer. We used a dell windows xp disk to reinstall windows (which also deleted all my awesome stuff >.<) and everything was fine for 4 months until it happened again. Someone told me it might be that my hard drive is bad, but I have no idea. I hope something I said made sense to you cause I dont know why it would do this to me twice, and before it happened the computer was working fine ._.

if it's all still under warranty, you can probably call up the maker of your hard drive and get a replacement. i had a hard drive die on me a few years ago and maxtor replaced it for free. they are pretty cheap nowadays though so you could just go out and buy one, saving you the trouble.![]()
It was never under warranty unfortunately it was a floor model at circuit city so we got it cheaper because of that XDDD still lasted a good 3 years though. And yeah I saw some really good harddrives at a used computer store for pretty cheap, theres a 500gb hard drive for like 80 dollars there. Ive been thinking to just replace it anyway because it happening twice in 4 months just isnt cool lol
Thanks for the help Mr Kain lol
