    Default Table Top RPG

Just because we need some diversity on this board, how about some Table Top RPG Discussion/Dissection?

I play World of Darkness, primarily, with some D&D, Exalted, Marvel Universe RPG, Fireborn.

I enjoy the WoD because it gives a dark fantasy take on the modern world. Make the modern world darker and shadier, add in some supernatural types and we've got ourselves a setting of many horror movies, from the point of the monsters and even worse things in the night.

D&D is just too classic to not play. I've played 3.5 for a while, but I have to admit, I like 4th more.

Exalted just lets you do crazy anime stuff in a table top Game. And it's fun when you can make nine freakin attacks in a surprise round.

Marvel's a much easier system. No dice, no worries. Just how much effort you put into the action determines it's success or failure.

Fireborn was a fun setting, but the game mechanics and combat were overly complicated and easily one-sided with the right power-gamers.

So what do you all think? What are some of your Table Top RPGs you play, why, and what do you enjoy about them?

I've been playing The Dark Eye, Germany's most popular pen and paper RPG for 14 years now. Been writing my own adventures for it and been game master for many years too. I play it every two weeks on Sundays, it's always a great time. It's a highly complex low fantasy RPG with the most detailed background available of any RPG system I think. Just the way I like it.

I also used to play Shadowrun a few times but it wasn't my thing really - but I'd still give it another go if the chance happens.

I rock the D&D!! I've played the Star Wars one too. I love the Star Wars one actually. But I rock DM sometimes and I've started some actual characters 'cause I have a friend who's willing to play the DM

I have the book for the Wheel of Time rpg and the only module printed for it. It's basically like D&D 3.0 with weaker overall magic and extremely few magic items. In general the classes and casting of weaves is well handled though I probably would've gone with something more akin to psionics than the vancian based system they used for the One Power.

Aside from near complete lack of support for the system it is pretty good. The module (Prophecies of the Dragon) is one of the best ones I've ever read. Lots of variety and good locale designs. I modified parts of it to use in a D&D game or two.

I've played D&D (2nd, 3.5 and 4, although 2nd was ages back and i don't really remember much of it), exalted, vampire, scion (those 3 are white wolf systems), rolemaster, and mutants and masterminds.

Between 3.5 and 4, I can't really decide on one being better, they are just different. Although my original opinion of 4e was rather poor. (I tried DMing it and the players weren't as interested, and my first time playing it the dm decided to be a f***tard, and force me into playing a class that anyone with half a brain should have realized I wouldn't like, even though I was asking for something different.)

Between exalted, vampire and scion, I have preferred scion. Admittedly, we've had our best dm running scion, so...

M&M went poorly for our group, but the DM was trying something different in story terms and couldn't handle it properly (trying to bring the party together one by one, rather than having everyone start together. the dm hadn't mastered spotlight-sharing at that stage, and so it kinda failed)

Rolemaster was started, but the dm decided to be lazy and drop it at first available oppurtunity, so i don't have enough experience to say anything for certain.
