Help with training...

Ok i just want your help with a little project of mine...

I really like castform so i've decided i'll try my best to make him as powerful as possible.

Now you might say "And... we all want our PKMN the most powerful" which is true but i think we like some PKMN in our teams better than others.

Basically i never really pay much attention to effort points etc i mean i know about them and everything but i'm afraid i just don't have the motivation (at least while still trying to complete the game) to make sure my PKMN only fight other PKMN that give out the right effort point boosts. Castform will be different.

I have yet to get to the weather institute although i'm very close so i haven't yet got a Castform.

Basically i intend to make sure the scientist will give me a female Castform so i can breed as many as i want if and when needed.

Question 1 What PKMN can breed with a female Castform?

Once i have got 'mum' and 'dad' together i can move on to the next stage.

The Baby Castform i plan will have the following - a modest personality (+SA -Attk) because i don't plan on him using his Attk any time soon; and obviously the highest starting stats (and as such DVs) i can be bothered to breed for.

Question 2 What is the max stats of a Castform with a Modest personality at level 5?

I found some info that suggested that with a neutral personality these should be his max stats at level 5 -

HP: 22-23
Attack: 12-13
Defense: 12-13
Speed: 12-13
Special Attack: 12-13
Special Defense: 12-13

Is this right?


So once all that is done i can start training the castform which i expect for the first 30 levels will be a VERY annoying process.

Anyway I know i can only max 2 of his stats and obviously the first will be his Sp Attk but i don't know which other stat to max.

Question 4 In your opinion which other stat should i concentrate on maxing out the effort points?

I was thinking maybe speed but Hp is also an option too...


In terms of my strategy for training i intend to slap on the Macho Brace as soon as possible, feed castform as many vitamins to up my chosen two stats as soon as possible, and only fight those PKMN which will increase my chosen to stats effort points.

Now after some investigation in to what PKMN it would be best for my castform to battle at a low value the only PKMN that are a viable option are Spinda.

Spinda are very common in the areas they can be found and they give out 1 effort point to Spc Attk so if i fight them i should find my Spac Attk effort points increasing as planned.

Obviously once i've decided on the other stat i want to max i will undertake a similar strategy.

Question 5 In your opinion is my training strategy going to work?

Question 6 If i purchase all the vitamins and give them to castform straight away how long in terms of level would it roughly take to max out his effort points?

I know about that woman who gives you a ribbon if you max your effort points so i intend to check with her from time to time.

Question 7 Once the effort points are maxed out it doesn't matter what PKMN i battle does it?

As for every thing else IT DEPENDS some things are random
Even if you had two identical castforms on two diffrent versions
and each one battled every battle the same their stats would differ

So you think i should max out all castform's defences?

Hmm... yes i suppose he may need it to help him survive that first turn before using a weather affect.

But what personality will help him most then?

What this one?

catch the red gyarados in g/s/c
trade it to rby and teach it mimic
trade it back to gsc and delete all its moves except mimic
trade to rby and go fight a ditto
use mimic to mimic transform. ditto will transform.
use transform. let ditto transform again.
catch the ditto uing a ultraball or whatever
trade ditto to gsc. it should be a shining ditto.

If only i'd known about this back when i was playing gold and silver.

Go with Calm + sp def -attack

or Bold +def -attack

Castform would only effect with in a Sandstorm since weatherball turn to rock
;however, its attack is less than its sp attack so I would just switch weather conditions since castform is hurt by sandstorm anyways

Agreed if a sandstorm started i'd just switch weather type.

The personality issue still niggles me - i really want a boost to SA for him as i'll be banking on one to two hit kills.

Which out of these (projected) final stats do you all prefer?

But KOing Spinda makes me sad LOL i think i shall have to catch a few to make up for the piles of the poor things that will be wandering about in even a more dazed fashion than normal.

I dont suppose the macho brace doubles the amount of effort points you get from vitamins does it?
