I don't see what would be wrong with a star like Rooney to spend some time with a small club. Sure, usually star players do that once they have reached a certain age and Rooney is only 25 or something but he already has three English championships and cups in his collection, maybe he thinks enough is enough.
Austria, whose football years of glory are now 60 years in the past, had the pleasure to have many great stars playing for its clubs too.
Czech star and European Cup winner Antonin Panenka played for Rapid Vienna as did Dejan Savicevic of AC Milano glory. Argentinian world cup victor Mario Kempes played for Vienna FC, Russian star Oleg Blochin played for minnows Vorwärts Steyr.
I thinks it's just a joke interview, yet if it were 10 years from now I wouldn't be surprised by Rooney playing for Perth Glory one bit.![]()
