    Default *~ Bulbie's Notebook ~*

Greetings all! This topic is dedicated to a lot of the stuff my mind tends to spew out. I figured that instead of creating a new topic for every short story and blurb I do, I'd much rather post it into one big topic.

So what will you see growing here?

    * Poetry
    * Short Stories
    * Blurbed Ideas Relating to My Current Stories (their future chapters perhaps or alternate reality ideas for characters)
    * Any other writing blurby thing that cannot be catagorized

Expect to see a lot of stuff because lately I've been taking a Creative Writing class and so a lot stuff happens with that! It has been fantastic at fueling my creative writing streak! The first part of the semester we're dealing with poetry, so you'll see a lot of poems in the beginning. My styles of writing might vary from post to post, due to us studying different models and designs. ^_^

So feel free to comment! I love comments and if you particularily like something or think it would be a good story idea (or should be put into one of my stories) than feel free to mention that! Otherwise sit back, grab a cup of tea and enjoy! The more stuff I put here, the more I'll put a 'table of contents' in the beginning here to help navigate and sift through things.

A note about the next work: This is a poem done in class as an exercise. This poem started out at a little story and then was designed and fleshed out into poetry format.

    Dormitory Silence

Quiet January. Today is a freezing ice-barren day in that first month.
I sit in an uncomfortable wooden chair with a skyscraper stack of greedy papers that
    chitter constantly.
They persistently mock me and yet I do not wield my half-beaten sword to mutilate
    them.
So the papers continue to chitter and I stare dumbly silent.

In the abyss of too much, or so i call my mind, are similiar monstrous chittering papers.
They tare my composure to ribbons, exposing the sensitive hot liquid core behind
    my Great Wall.
Those intangible parchments taunt and laugh, knowing I am no match for them.
So they continue to chitter and I fold under their weight.

    Mother Dead
    Grandfather Bawling
    Dog Breast Cancer
    Grandmother Cheating Bastard
    Me Heart failure
    Father Infection

Here I am silently sitting in this mahogany chair just growling at those tasking
    papers that I haven't touched.

I grab my loud red Swiss Army backpack and shove a few handfuls of clothes
    and money into the pockets.
With my bright camera in one hand, car keys in the other, I swing open my
    moaning door wide.
Screaming, I am just screaming, pleased to hear myself actually alive. The rest
    is a blur.
I turn my red Jetta on, engine roars, peel away, burst through that P lot gate
and find myself shouting to warm God-loving Arizona.

I can't. So I grab an empty silver can of Diet Coke and arc a shot into the garbage
    can. It misses.
Rising, I pick the can back up and throw it away.
I simply return and sit into my rocking desk chair, silent, taking a sobbing pen in
    hand.
I take one of the numerous pieces of paper and begin working on chapter two,
    Fromm's "An Art of Loving."
    The chittering paper merely laughs.

Ooh well hello Bulbasaur4. That was very well interesting. lots of unusual language usages in this poem, also quite a strange format for a poem. I like it. I liked it a lot. Very interesting poem.

    ~*~*~*~*~

"Now remember Akio-kun, this is an extremely important family meeting. You must be on your best behavior at all times." A formal man in a sharp-cut black suit spoke, his voice having a smooth muggy feel to it- that of a very important and prominent businessman. He smoothed his thick black hair over with his hand absently while checking himself in the mirror as he spoke. His hands flowing over his suit collar, his pockets and then going to the tie all the while he spoke.
"Hai father." Akio responded instinctively, standing as tall as he could to look more grown up. Akio was only six years old and already had a sharp-cut suit just like his father. Perhaps he almost would have looked like a miniature version of his father with is dress attire, had it not been for his blazing red hair and sharp-golden eyes.
"Good boy Akio-kun. Now go help your mother." Akio gave a nod and scampered out, giving a huff of air as he did so. His father's pressuring aura always had a suffocating effect upon Akio, making him always uncomfortable. His father was always so busy, so proper, so matter-of-fact... it was a marvel to Akio at the time.
"Ah, Akio! My little grown up!" Akio's mother beamed, stopping for a moment from her make-up routine and bending over to give Akio a small pat on the shoulders. A business woman herself, Akio's mother was a bit more welcoming and warming for Akio. Her matching fiery red hair was pinned up in an elaborate, tightly-knit bun that accentuated her lovely neckline. Earrings of small, delicate diamond glittered her ears in a non-flaunting way, matching well with her azure blouse and darker skirt. Her eyes were like Akio's father- a rich, deep an penetrating ebony brown.
"How about you go wait downstairs? We'll be ready in a moment." She smiled her ever-charming smile and Akio nodded and scampered downstairs.

The day droned on and Akio had very little to do. All of the family members seemed to have shown up, which filled a rather large banquet hall with a decorated chandelier in the center of it all. They were all about family matters, business matters and things that a little five year old had barely any interest in it all. None of the other children from the family showed up, but Akio's father, the legendary Kasai Hito, believed that it was important that Akio attend to prove not only was Akio a fine young boy, but an appropriate and promising next-in-line.
So Akio fidgeted and often would daze off, thinking back of how he wish he were at his old home and playing with friends. The family had moved recently when Kasai Hito's business had merged, or rather, bought out another company and the buy out was rather large. Such an event called for moving to a new location, although Hito and his wife traveled so frequently it really did not matter much to Akio. All that he knew was now he was in a foreign place that he knew nothing about.
To think the family gathering consisted of three very long, boring suit-filled days.

    *******

"You be a good boy Akio! Study a lot. When I get back I expect to hear your excellent English skills." Kasai Hito said in a rather demanding way, although he meant to sound affectionate with an expectance.
"Hai father." Akio nodded, "I will study hard."
"Make sure to keep up with all of your studies. If you do well enough, you can get a high position like your father some day!" Akio's mother echoed, and Akio responded with a well-trained nod. The two then left, having stayed in the house for rest for a day before rapidly hustling out the door to another traveling business tour.

"Come Akio-sama, let's eat some lunch." One of the house attendants said, patting Akio on the back as he watched the back of the lean black car drive away.

    *******

"What on earth is his name?"
    "I don't know... he's some new kid."
"Well just look at his hair! Have you seen anything like it?"
"No. No I haven't. Stop gawking!"
"But that style... I'd never make my hair that flat. Poor thing!"
    "Stop."
"We must meet him! Maybe offer him some tea"

Akio was swinging on a swing set, rather boredly on his first day of school at his new location. His school outfit was cleanly pressed, his red hair flattened in an overly-mature way by his father. Accompanied by this was a rather dismal face, although Akio did not look timid or even shy at the other kids. On his first day at his new school, Akio probably would have joyously joined in... or rather, thrown himself into, another group's game if he hadn't been so tired from getting up in the morning to bid his parents goodbye. And of course, Akio never liked it when his parents left. Most six year olds did not like such things.
"Hellloo! What is your name?" A rather confident, thinly feminine boy walked up. Next to him was a rather tall-for-his-age boy that ... well, at first glance almost seemed to be the polar opposite of the other boy.
"Ano..." Akio thought for a moment. His name? At his last school, he knew that his name affected people. He had always had friends about, but... well... they were almost forced. As if they were expected to play with Kasai Akio.
"Did you forget?" The other one snorted.
"No! My name is... A... An! An Akio!"
There was silence for a moment, before they spoke again.
"An? My... what a lovely name! Isn't it a lovely name Dai-kun?"
    "... Oh... um.. .yah..."
"I'm Hotaru Inoue and he's ______ Dai. Nice to meet you!"
Akio smiled brightly, as he leapt off the swing. For some reason these two seemed to have a rather enigmatic air about them- something that washed away his worries about his parents or their going away.
"Can I play with you guys?" Akio asked instantly, opening his eyes widely and brightly.
    "Why yes but first..."

"Aack! Pfft!" Akio's head was drenched in water.
"Why on earth did your father put so much gel in your hair?!" Inoue exclaimed, marveling at how long it took him to wash the gel out of Akio's hair in the bathroom... in the sink. (Which consisted of Akio protesting as Inoue and Dai dunked his head in the sink filled with water.) Akio explained that his father did not approve of Akio's hair's natural appearance when left ungeled. In fact, his father would have dyed his hair black so that he matched the family better if it had not been Akio's mother, who insisted that it was unique and memorable. (After all, she had the same, extremely oddly colored hair.)
"Well... because..." Akio began, but suddenly a breezy wind blew by, causing Akio's hair to apparently magically lift and resume its normal shape, even though it was weighed down a bit by the water. Long, flowing bangs swept over his face, mirroring his facial shape quite magnificently and it naturally whisped about in the back- all together making a young-generation-hair masterpiece. For a moment, Inoue and DAi (well, mostly Inoue0 waere in awe at how easily the hair took such a brilliant form.
"Magnificant! Your hair has wonderful form! It'd be a horrible, horrible thing to NOT let it do this! And your dye job is very well-done! It looks natural... like flames from a -"
"Enough! Gah!" Dai rolled his eyes at Inoue. Akio laughed lightly.
    "it is natural!"
    "No way... "
    "It is! It.. I think they said it was a ... a... gen-et-ic mut-ation!
    "Fascinating!"
"I looked it up... you see... it's when this thing called DNA gets all - "
"ENOUGH!" Dai roared, looking at Inoue and Akio who stared blankly back at Dai from their engrossing conversation. "Let's do something... like play ball... or tag... or ANYTHING but what we're doing right now."
"Oh puu, yes yes Dai-kun... whatever you ssaaay..."
