this story is based on Anime Style Battling like in the show or on the site, plz tell me what u think

Chapter 1

Da Streets

"What food have you salvaged?" Noah asked his Croagunk. Croagunk gently pushed ahead a blackend banana skin. It wasnt much, but none the less a blessing umong his kind. Thank you croagun. As the boy slid some of the banana skin in his mouth, he remembered his croagunk, whom was quietly croaking in the shadow of the alley. "Here buddy." he said as he riped the banana skin in half and gave 1 half to Croagunk. "Here, i bet your thirsty" he pulled out a dirty green bowl filled with fresh glamering watter wich he stole from a well the well. Croagunk and the boy looked into the clear water with aww. As the boy stared into the water he remarked, "This must be what the gods drink."

As Noah looked into the bowl he saw his reflection and small tears began to slide down his cheek. His brown hair flowed out of the sides of his dirty white bandana which was plain with the exeption of a skull crossbones symbol centered in the middle. He wore the same ripped and mangled black vest and a his newly aquired red jacket that he stole from the local clothes store. That robery, it was the same way that he earned a a scar on his right hand. He wore long black jeans that had red chains dangling from them. He looked pathetic, his face was dirty with some cuts on them.

He also looked at his only friend he had ever known. Croagunk looked dirty and beat up, Croagunk had put his life on the line to protect Noah. Noah had found croagunk in a sewer and oringinanaly their relashonship was more as partners instead of friends. Working together to steal and, live.

Things had never been so good for Noah. He had been born in Kerning City, the same he stole from and lives in. He ran away from the orphanage at the age of 6. It had been seven years from that day, now he wondered if he would have been better in the orphanage.

Noah finished his meal and layed on the pavement, trying to fall asleep. He had started to doze off just when he herd a large truck. His first reaction was to run because he didnt want to earn another scarr. But Croagunk was curious and looked out of the alley. Noah quickly ran over to pick Croagunk up and flee. As he went out of the alley to get croagunk, he spoted the source of the noise, a large white truck that had a pokeball symbol on it and and the words "JUBALIFE ENTERTAINMENT" the driver of the truck was a tall muscular man who went inside a the rest stop Noah lived across from.

As the driver went inside noah ran over to the back of the truck. There was a small window halfway up the back door of the truck. He peered inside and it was like heaven. Lots of machines that where filled to the top with fried chicken, soft pretzels, ice cream, and pizzia. Noah's mouth dreweled at the site. He looked over at Croagunk who was jumping to get a look inside and croaking in hunger. Noah did not take his eyes of the food and said to Croagunk. "How do we get in?"

Chapter 2

Free Ride


Croagunk and Noah looked circled the truck trying to find a way in. Croagunk gave a quite but clear croak. As Noah went around to the right of the truck where Croagunk was patting the passenger side door with his webbed hands. The rusty red door was sligtly cracked open.

Noah bent down to look in the dusty side mirror attached just infront for the window. Noah never did worry about apearences but it wasnt his face he was looking at, It was his right hand. The scar didnt look anymore healed then it did 1 hour ago. Croagunk began to glare at Noah, a sign that he had to focus.

Noah blushed a bit as he quickly took his hand and his face away from the mirror. Then refocused he wispered to Crogunk still emotionlessly awaiting instructions from his huiman partner. "Use poison jab to squeze your hand thru the opening and force the door open." Croagunks hand glowed purple and forced itself thru the opening. He then used his strength to open the door. "Yes!" Noah wispered.

Noah then assesed what had happen so far. Noah did have the tendency to think stratigily when a reward was on the line. They had spent to much time trying to get in, the driver would be coming back in a few minutes. Noah and croagunk got in the truck. The passenger seat had stains on it and hamburger rappers, and cups where littered across the floor.

Noah surveyed the area for a way to get in the back. He saw a steel door. Connecting the drivers area to the storage area in the back . He opened it and him and Crogund jumped into the snack filled heaven.The back was about the size of a car with rusted steel with one giant grey tarp over the floor, a couple tarp covered objects, and the snack machines that Noah craved. Noah couldnt believe that he had made it this far. Noah's mouth drewled at the sight, even Croagunk leeked purple poison from his mouth. Right as Noah went over to a machine containing fried chicken, to find a way to get the chicken from the machine to his mouth the truck rumbled.

Enginges roared to life. Noah new the truck must be starting, and he was not going to leve the blessing that had been bestowed upon him. Then he becan to sweat intensly and his pulse beated up. The metal door conecting the back of the truck to the front, he hadnt closed it. He didnt belive in god, but he prayed to somone that the driver wouldnt notice. He and croagunk crouched behind a tarp covered object. The truck becan to move. After about 10 minutes he poked his head out from behind the tarp. The door was closed. Noah and Croagunk let out deep sighs of releif. Noah wondered, was it possible for croagunk to of understood what was going on?

Noah cralled over to the fried chicken maching he had had his eyes on since he first peered insided the truck. He found a place that croagunk could use brick break on and get the food out. "Crogunk i ne-".

The truck took a sharp turn and the machine tipped over, the shadow of it grew larger and larger over Noah, Noah couldnt react, he was to stuned, sudenly croagunk jumped sprang and tackled Noah out of the way. Noah and Croagunk flew threw the air. Noah didnt know why but he wispered "Thank you, Friend" It seemed like they where in the air forever, finaly they hit somthing, somthing hard. Noah's felt as if somone had punched him in his head, he was not having trouble breathing though, and he could still feel his legs and arms, but he felt tired. Noah's vision lasted long enogh so that he could see Croagunk who apeared to be sleeping on the floor with blood coming out of his mouth. The blood was bubbling though, that was good, it meant Croagunk was breathing. Then Noah's vision faded from blurry, to black.

Chapter 3

My Stop

Noah groned. He felt his head bump the floor of...what was it he was in agin? Noah opened his eyes, he remembered. Croagunk! Was he ok? The raggady looking boy scurryed to his feat. Looked around and sure enogh there was his webbed foot friend laying aginst a the same wall but farther down. Crogunk had purplish-red blood around his mouth. Noah shook Croagunk. Noah relaxed once he was awnsered with a rough croak.

Noah manuvered his way to the back of the truck around machines, and objects. He looked out the same small glass window he had looked thru the first time he saw the glorious inside of the truck, filled with food.
He was in some sort of town.

He then ganced at Croakunk once more. Croagunk wouldnt be such a good situation if his injuries wor't treated. He considered waited the rest of the ride, but then he would have to sneak out of the truck carrying his injured poket monster.

He looked out the window agin, they where at a stop light. He also noticed a big red building with a pokeball symboll at the top. He had seen a structure similar to that one before, somewhere? What where they called? Oh yes Pokemon Centers, they treated injured pokemon.

An idea formed in Noah's head. He rushed over to croagunk and shook him. "Croagunk wake up. I need you to do one more thing for me" Croagunk responded by weakly standing up. He used his hand to wipe the blood from his mouth. Noah told his shaking friend "Croagunk i need you to break open the back door to the truck with you brick break."

Croagunk collected the last of his strength to deliver a powerfull punch to the back door. It dented it but no break. Croagunk droped to the floor. They where running out of time. Noah looked at the machine that had nearly crushed him. He wanted to get out of the truck, and he wanted revenge.

He pushed the machine so that is was across from them back door, and rammed it with all his strength. It moved in to the door, and satisfiingly enough, the door gave way with a high pitched screetch and a loud bang. Noah quickly grabed Croagunk and jumped out of the truck over the machine and into the streets. The city wasnt anything like Kerning, it was clean, the air smelled nice, there where many large buildings and many people drove in cars along the paved streets or walked on the side walks. As he ran across the intersection cars honked, and people cursed at him. His first reaction was "Croagunk u-". He looked down at his unconsious friend. Just as the the light changed to green. A boy that looked like he had been wearing the same clothes forever and been in fights every day of his life carrying a Croagunk ran towords the Pokemon Center.

This could be interesting, but work on your grammar and spelling. For seasoned readers and writers, it's difficult to follow a story where there are excessive typos, misspellings and poorly punctuated sentences.

Oh, and, I've been copy editing for two years ^_^;; so even though I don't post much here, I know what I'm talking about =P

Any grammar errors, typos, punctuation screw-ups or misspellings in this thread are due to a hangover and not to the author of this post being an idiot. Blargh, tylenol! Tylenol!

I gave it a read and think its got potential. I'd increase the length of the chapters - all that you've written could probably actually be summarised in a few paragraphs and it feels as if the story isn't going anywhere. With fiction its really important to establish WHAT the story will be about. Try and work on that.

Noah's 'off-the-rails' life seems interesting. Is Croagunk his only Pokemon? I can't wait to see his character develop some more.

Chapter 4, hope you like it. I will use word this time so it will hopefully catch my errors. Also there is a new charecter in this chapter, you may know him from the forums.

Chapter 4

The Pokemon Center

The adrenaline pumped Noah jogged towards the Pokemon Center holding his injured Croagunk. The city’s sounds where a mixture of people pleasantly talking amongst themselves and cars honking at Noah. The front of the Pokemon Center was a gorgeous garden with rainbow of flowers and 2 benches. Noah walked up to the doors and they automatically. As Noah entered he slowed himself to a walk and surveyed the area. The room was white with the exception of a purple rug, a couple of couches and a counter with a boy on Noah’s side, and a smoothed skin gentle looking lady wearing a white gown a white hat with a medical cross on it, and most noticeable about her was her pink hair.

Noah walked towards the counter where the boy and the lady where talking. The lady began to speak in a gentle voice.

“Don’t worry Chris, your Eve is at 100% health and frolicking as energetic as ever.” The lady handed the boy a poke ball.

The boy replied in a clear and calm voice. “Thank you nurse joy, from me, and E-.”

Noah went up to the counter and interrupted them “Lady, do you think you can heal my Croagunk? We had an…” Noah paused “accident.” Noah laid his injured friend on the counter.

The lady replied “Of course. Allow me to take Croagunk so I may treat him.” The lady gently picked up Croagunk and took him into a room behind the counter. “By the way my name is Nurse Joy and I run this Pokemon center. Your Croagunk will be fully healed in one day, you are welcome to stay here over night.”

“Nice to meet you my name is Noah.”

Nurse joy said “Hello Noah, at this Pokemon Center we offer free rooms for trainers and Pokemon Care”

Noah could barley hide his emotion in his voice “So I can stay in this place for free?”

The boy that had originally been talking to Nurse Joy said “Of course you can I can tell because of your Pokemon’s Injuries that you have been training hard, anyone who works that hard deserves a place to stay. By the way my name is Chris. We have all been training hard for the Pokemon League, I hear the stakes are high this year.

Noah turned to Chris “Hi I’m Noah. Um how high are the stakes for this Pokemon League?”

Chris said to Noah “You don’t know? The Pokemon League is a gathering of Pokemon trainers from all around. It is a tournament that takes place in 5 weeks and the top prize is 10,000$.”

Noah heard one thing stand out in that sentence, 10,000$! Noah asked Chris in amazement “How would I enter?”

Chris answered happily, it seemed Chris liked the feeling of having info that others didn’t. “First you will need at least 6 Pokemon, then in exactly 5 weeks they will have tryout where you will battle a proctor, if you beat the proctor you can enter the tourney.”

Noah paid close attention for this, but it was a lot of information to handle. “Here.” Nurse Joy said who had been watching their conversation. She handed Noah a piece of paper. “It is a flyer with all info on the Pokemon League and the Grand Festival.

Noah accepted the flyer, he didn’t know what the grand festival was, but he didn’t really care. “I have had a long day, I would like to retire to a room.”

“Here.” Nurse Joy handed Noah a key. “Up the stairs and second door on the right, room 3.”

As Noah entered the second story and looked at the numbers on the doors looking for room 3. He began to insert the Key into the slot when a gentle female voice called to him. “Excuse Me.” Noah turned around. “Did you drop this?” Holding his flyer was a beautiful brown haired girl, who wore jean shorts, a a pink tee shirt, and a yellow heart on it. She had the smile of an angel.

This is a good Fanfic, the only problem I see with it is that there are some minor spelling mistakes that kind of ruin the impact a sentence has.

Example the last sentence of the last paragraph of chapter four

"She haid the smile of an angle"

Now I am not usually a big person on spelling but sometimes just going through your work and checking it helps. Maybe even doing it up in Microsoft word first.

Besides that I would like to see how Noah and Croagunk fair at the Pokemon League.

A cool chapter. Interesting that the league is in just 5 weeks - can Noah assemble a team together in time? It was a vast improvement on previous chapters, and the description was better.

You also began portraying people's characters; Chris came across as quite arrogant and above Noah and we got a good sense of this. Well done. Don't rush the next chapter, and I eagerly wait to see it.

Chapter 5

Sleepy Head


“Yes, I must have dropped it coming down the hall.” Noah did his best conceal his emotion of shyness “Thank you, my name Is Noah” Noah began to take the piece of paper from her hands, but then brought his hand back because he was using his right hand, he reached once more with his left and took the flyer.

The girl spoke in a sweet, soft voice “No problem. My Name is Nicole and, I am assuming from this piece of paper about the Pokemon League that you are a new trainer just like me.”

Noah didn’t think he was even technically a trainer. “You could say that. Are you going to be entering the Pokemon League also?”

Nicole said in a stronger voice now “No, I am going to compete in the Grand festival, and I am going to win it.”

Noah still not knowing what this Grand Festival was asked “Is the Grand Festival the same thing as the Pokemon League?”

She replied almost astounded by his lack of knowledge. “The Grand Festival Is similar to the Pokemon League, but it is for contests instead of battles.” Noah didn’t know what a contest was, but he didn’t want to look any stupider so he just nodded. She spoke again “Since we are both new to being trainers, I was wondering if you wanted to come over to my room, and you know, show each other our Pokemon.

Noah’s heart began to pound so fast that he could hear it. “Sorry my Croagunk is getting treated by Nurse Joy now so I don’t think that would be a good idea.”

“Oh that’s ok.” Nicole sounded disappointed “Maybe another time.”

That night Noah had his first real sleep in a long time. The fluffy pillows, the warm covers, and the soft mattress definitely beat the pavement of an alley. Noah woke up at around 11:00am. He had never slept so late in his life. He took a shower in the free showers and brushed his teeth with a free tooth brush that had been left in his room’s bath room. He also got to wash his clothes in the washing machine on his floor. As he walked down stairs he heard the familiar voices of Nicole and Chris.

They both spoke in unison “Thanks Nurse Joy.” They where both already in out of their PJs and dressed. Noah guessed that Chris was staying here to.

The Nurse who was handing them a bowl with steam coming out of it replied “You are very welcome. Eat up!”

As Chris and Nicole sat at two couches across from each other with a table in between them they noticed Noah now in the center of the room. “Good morning sleepy head” Nicole said

Chris added in “Aww man! Does this mean I can’t have your soup?” Nicole chuckled.
Nurse Joy said. “Noah your Croagunk is now feeling much better” she laid a pokeball out on the counter, just like the one that was on his bandana. “Nicole tells be you’re a new trainer so you also receive these free of charge. “She put a couple more pokeballs on the counter, folded up clothes ,and a back pack, “This is your adventures starter kit.”

Noah almost cried at the Nurse’s generosity. Free clothes, free pokeballs, a free backpack, and she healed Croagunk. “Thank you so much.” He put everything into the backpack except Croagunk’s pokeball, and laid the backpack against the wall.

Joy said “Don’t mention it. Oh and also here is some soup and a sandwich for lunch. She handed him a plate. Noah wanted to hug the pink haired lady.

“Thank you.” Noah began to take it up to his room.

“Hey wait” He recognized the voice of Nicole. “Come eat with us.” Noah went over to the couch that Chris was on and began to enjoy his meal.”

Nurse Joy spoke “The Pokemon food it ready”. She laid 3 bowls on the floor with what appeared to be pet food. Chris let out his Evee who jumped around as perky as could be, ran over to one of the bowls and stuck its face in it, Nicole let out a cat Pokemon.

“Go ahead Glameow, eat up.” Glameow becan to rub around Nicoles leg, and started to purr.

“Noah did the same and let out Croagunk.” The Pokemon, and people enjoyed their meals and had conversations. The beginning of friendships, and the end of being alone.

Nice addition, I have a feeling though that Noah isn't the only one interested in Nicole *Cough Chris Cough*.

So is Noah going to get the all important team of pokemon rather then just using his Croagunk.

I have also noticed that this chapter has a lot less spelling mistakes then your previous ones, it also flows better as well.

Chapter 6

An Angel On the Balcony

In the past 4 days Noah’s life had taken a perfect turn for once. He met a Nurse who was literally a mother to him, making him meals, and cleaning up after him. Nurse Joy even washed and cut his hair. A friend who played with him, and wasn’t afraid of adventure. And a girl that could of only been sent from the heavens, she was smart, pretty, and not afraid of adventure. In the 4 days that Noah had been there, he started to think of the Pokemon Center as his first real home. Noah’s only Pokemon Croagunk also took a liking to the place. He enjoyed playing with Chris’s Evee, and Nicole’s Glameow, that Glameow shot Noah and Croagunk a few dirty looks every so often, but Noah was willing to let it go because it was Nicole’s Pokemon.

Noah tossed in his bed, he got up and went to the bathroom. Coming out he realized that nobody else was up yet, not even Nurse Joy who always seemed to be up cooking, cleaning, and taking care of Pokemon. Noah wondered back down the hall towards room 003, past room 001 Chris’s, and room 002 Nicole’s. He looked at the small electric clock on the night table next. It read 5:00 A.M, must be Monday, Noah used to wake up early on Monday to look for food, must be force of habit.

Noah wondered back down the hallway, past room 004, and 005, unoccupied. There was a balcony at the end of the hallway out looking the gorgeous garden and streets in front of the Pokemon Center. On the balcony was a table with an umbrella on it with 4 soft brown chairs surrounding it. Noah sat down on the chair on the right side of the table. He sat down and began to look out on the streets, the very street he arrived on. He sat there in deep thought for about 30 seconds, until a soft voice scared him. “Morning, sleepy head. You’re up early.”

At first Noah was scared. He almost jumped, but he couldn’t jump, he couldn’t be afraid, not in front of Nicole. Noah decided that if he was going to get any where with Nicole he would have to take action. Girls liked it when you acted “friendly” towards them, right? “Oh, didn’t see you there. What’s a pretty face like you doing out here all alone?.”

Although in the blackness of night you could not see it, Nicole started to blush and squeeze her lips together. She tried to play it cool but a change in her voice speed was noticeable. She began to talk faster, with a bit higher voice. “Oh I just like to come out here and gaze at the garden when, I have…something on my mind.”

Noah hoped he was on her mind. “Nicole, you may have noticed that I acted a little stranger then you or Chris.”

Nicole, her voice slowing back to normal speed and tone replied. “Sure you may have had problems with the washer machine, and over reacted with happiness when u tasted Nurse Joy’s cooking, but I wouldn’t say that u are weird.”

Noah shifting his sites out to the city, spoke. “I don’t think you understand. I am not from around here I am from a bad place, a place I hope I never have to go back to.” He paused, Nicole trying her best to understand. “Never take what you have for granted.” Nicole did not speak, but instead just put out her hand and held Noah’s left hand.

Noah and Nicole stayed up all night talking about various subjects. Then Nicole started to talk about something that struck Noah’s attention. “So are you ready for trainers day today?”

Noah curios asked “Trainers day what is that?”

The sun started to come up and Nicole looked at it. “Every Monday the Pokemon Center holds a tournament, of 1v1 Pokemon battles.”

Noah’s natural first reaction “Happen there be a prize?.”

Its going well; nice to see Nicole. Is she based off anybody? However like I mentioned before not much has actually happened yet. You could condense the last two or three chapters into one. I liked the way you described the change in atmosphere from the Pokemoncenter.

anyways, i willl try to follow ur advice, i just felt that i needed a chapter for developing relashonships

also dont forget that just because Noah is trying to make it into the Pokemon Leauge dosnt meen he will make it. Im planning on making the plot take a veary sharp turn. Yes i smell plot twist, stay tuned to find out.

Also i am going to do my best to orginize a ASB give-a-way within my fan fic, where ppl would send in art of what they think the charecters look like, or Awnser a quiz or somthing like that. The prizes would be points or eggs.

Chapter 7

Trainers Day - HEAT IN THE PREGAME LOBBY!

“So with out further ado, the match ups will be randomized, and then posted in a few minutes.” Nurse Joy spoke in a proud voice that was amplified by the Pokemon Centers lobby. Noah sat on a couch with Chris and Nicole. Noah new that today would be his first battle. He sat and concentrated on the television screen a top the Pokemon Center’s counter, pictures of himself, Nicole, Chris, and 2 other trainers scrambled up.

He was doing his best to focus, by piecing together what Joy and Nicole had told him this is what he new so far about this small tournament. It was held every Monday at the Poke’ Center, it consisted of 1 v 1 battle, and this weeks prize was a newly hatched Pokemon. Yet something was on Noah’s mind, Nicole, she was the opposite of him. Yet he felt a way that he had never felt before.

Chris broke the silence “Look!” He pointed to the TV that had decided the match ups I’m facing that boy standing by the tower in my first round! Nicole your facing the girl sitting at the table…Noah it seems like you get a by, lucky you.” The boy that Chris was prepared to battle, had green hair, and wore a hoody jacket with flames on it, and plane black jeans. He had a nervous aura about him, the same as Noah.

Nicole eyed her opponent closely, her opponent eyed their way, but not particularly at Nicole. “Chris, I remember that girl from last week. She beat you remember, she used that Mawile of hers.” She grinned at that fact, knowing that Chris had always been sort of a sore looser.

Chris not willing to loose at anything came back. “I see you analyze your opponents before you meet them in combat. Smart tactic. But I couldn’t help but notice that she isn’t to worried about you, she has been setting her sights on Noah.” He smirked.

Nicole balled her hand into a fist, yet couldn’t help blushing a bit. She did not speak but shoved her shoulder into Chris. Chris wanted to scream, but instead just sat like it was nothing. No madder how hard he tried to hide it Noah began to blush also “Well maybe she is just wondering who the new kid is. You act as though it is wrong for her to want to be friends, it is hard having nobody. Maybe I should go over their and say hi. ”

Chris amused chuckled and added in “I’m gonna go into big boy mode for a second.” He made his voice deeper “Now Noah you may just think of me as ‘Square old Chris from room #1, but I was cool once. I’ve been around the block once or twice. Now if you think that that girl is hot…” He never got to finish because Nicole slammed her foot down on Chris’ foot.

Nicole, clearly not amused at all shot Noah a glare that could shot through a steel wall. But she didn’t want to seem helpless so she spoke “Noah, acting like that won’t get you any more looks at all.” Noah now new that Chris new Nicole liked him, witch is something that Noah himself didn’t even knowing, but he enjoyed knowing. This also meant that Chris and Nicole where close. Noah’s blood heated for a moment with that thought.

If Nurse Joy didn’t come in then things could have gotten ugly. “Well it seems like our first match is Nicole against, last week’s champion, Amber. All trainers please follow me out back to the battle ground.”

The Pokemon Center had a battle ground? Noah didn’t know that. Noah and the others got up to follow Nurse Joy out the back door. Noah and Amber where the last ones out. As Noah was almost out the door a shy, soft voice spoke to him. “Um excuse me. Noah was it? Could you please hand me my pokeball? I dropped it by your feet.”

“Oh sure.” He bent over and picked it up, then handed it to her. “Here you go.”

“Thanks.” She replied, her cheeks red, her mouth in a small smile. “I’m Amber.” She had tan skin, yet not as dark as his, she wore a blue tee shirt with white sleeves, dark blue jean shorts, and had brunet hair. “I’m battling your friend, make sure you cheer for me.” They walked out the door joining the other trainers.

You know I actually think these short chapters sort of work. Keep trying to make them a little longer, but as I read them I'm reminded of a comic, where we get little bits at once.

This chapter built more on the love triangle, but I hope you won't make it too predictable. Will their feelings get in the way of the tournament? Or will the tournament get in the way of their feelings?

Nice character development. I wouldn't say I'm a sore loser...but, well, my character is. I look forward to the matches, have a great time in Florida!
