a sandstorm team is definitely not a good idea when you are using a shedinja, and unless shedinja is some kind of kooky starter, you need a rapid spinner to ensure it doesnt die right when it arrives on the field (spikes hurt shedinja)
Just going through ways to make my Sandstorm/confusion team more 2v2 friendly.. So let me see here..
Safeguard protects against status altering effects correct? If that is so, then can I in a 2v2 battle, have Spinda use safeguard protecting both ally pokemon.. and then use teeter dance only effecting the enemies??
How would such a team friendly Spinda moveset look?
My thoughts currently are..
Jolly (+speed, -sp.attack)
-safeguard
-teeter dance
-wish
-double-edge/return
Wish comes in for any switch healing or if I take double edge, I can wish and then double edge having wish kick in to heal afterwards..
I could also pair up Spinda with Shedinja to protect Shedinja against confusion/burn/poison...
Thoughts appreciated! Thanks~

Aye, I have taken that into consideration and that is where I have Sandslash.. My Sandslash has rapid spin to take care of enemy spikes to protect my Shedinja..
I only plan to use Shedinja when the battle is wrapping up.. or to induce enemy switching since I am also using spikes in my team..
But as for the Safeguard/Teeter dance combo.. does it work?
**Skarmory uses Roar during Sandstorm
**Shedninja comes into battle!
**Shedninja faints
It'd be a shame to have Shedninja die from your own Sandstorm... I really don't think he belongs in your team.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I guess I should not be an *** and not even comment on the point of your post...
Your Teeter Dance is gonna harm any of your teammates in battle... it would be better to give it to Cacturne and have Spinda by his side. Other options would be Grumpig... or even unobtainables like Slowbro or Lickitung.
Hrmph... Considering I do have two pokemon with sandstorm on my team.. it is a likely situation.
However, who would make a suitable replacement? I'm looking towards having a ghost on my team but just can't seem to fit one in just right.
Perhaps a Dusclops? I'm just not too sure..
Still, what about the Spinda?? Does his set look fine? And any item suggestions?
Thanks for any help here.. I play in tournies in a local game store and trying to formulate my team.
Well, Gengar would be great if you really needed a Ghost... but too bad he's unobtainable for now.
I kinda think Skarmory or Solrock/Lunatone could fit nicely because they won't be hury by your Sandstorm... just some Pokemon to consider.
Alrighties..
The advice is much appreciated. I'll take a gander at some more standstorm immune poke or ones that at least won't be to harmed by it's presence and see what I find..
I wouldnt suggest it since spinda will probably not survive 2 turns in a 2v2 unless you confuse the enemy team first turn (increasing spindas survivability). Just start another pokemon in your team who can safeguard before spinda's teeter dance hits.
I use a spinda/alakazam starting duo in my 2v2 that utilizes both safeguard and teeter dance. Kazam goes first thanks to his speed and safeguards, protecting himself from spinda's teeter dance and whatever status the bad guys throw at you.
heres the movesets
Alakazam
safeguard
psychic
reflect
recover
Spinda (in order to get this set w/ both wish and encore, you need to breed with a togetic... so it's technically illegal until he becomes obtainable)
return/double edge
teeter dance
encore
wish
heres how they work. depending upon what your opponent starts with, you can do 2 different things.
scenario 1 - enemy is starting brute force attackers. alakazam starts with a reflect, spinda teeter dances. next turn kazam switches to lose the confusion.
scenario 2 - enemy is starting annoyer/status/passer pokemon. alakazam safeguards, spinda teeter dances (or uses encore on a pokemon that you suspect will start with a non-attacking move) to give you a beginning advantage.
sure it works. But as for the Safeguard/Teeter dance combo.. does it work?
but i sugguest you have a cacturne with teeter dance.
this wont confuse cacturne or Spinda
Glad to see Spinda on someones else's team![]()
