I know this is about Colosseum, but it's also about R/S since we want to get the old Pokemon in it, so I posted it here. You guys have probably heard about the 3 new Pokemon games already haven't you? If not, check this out.
Courtesy an IGN post, check out this Corocoro scan showing pics from Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon Channel.

Look on the top left, it clearly shows screenshots of Meganium, Feraligatr, and Typhlosion in Colosseum!!! Could this be the way to get the old Pokemon?

    (edited to show the pic)

Ugh... one more thing to get our hopes up. Although this is slightly more substantial than the snapshot on the Storage System of a tiny picture not more than 8 pixels across that might be a charmander. We'll just have to wait and see. Thanx for the info.

To clear up any confusion - the 2v2 seems to be Meganium and Feraligatr vs Exploud and Typhlosion. So we can be sure it's not JUST GSC pokemon in that pic...

Wow! This is really cool. I think I see some feet by that Pikachu, and some trainers near their Pokemon in the middle of the picture. Looks like we're finally going to see some trainers.

It also seems that Collosseum is the main game of that poster. Meaning that 'Box' that everyone has been plugging as the next pokemon game may only be a minor release.

Still dissapointed not to see a 3D adventure game though. Channel is just the new 'Hey You Pikachu'

    Afterworld ~ Chapter 2 | Blood Bowl ~ Chapter 3
If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.

Looks very cool indeed, I'll be looking forward to it's release. One thing noone's mentioned. At the very top (under the greeny-yellow "Pokemon scoop" title) it says something about catching Jirachi! It's pretty hard to read the kanji but it defintely says Jirachi at the start, then about catching Pokemon afterwards. Maybe this game allows people to get Jirachi?

well, Crystal wa released after Stadium 2, so maybe it will not be such a big deal. in the 3rd version, you will probably get to catch the 3 rejis before the normal plot, or Rayquaza... who knows?

wow. pokemon colloseum rocks! I like how you can see the trainers. oh, and also. the graphics are pretty bad. have you seen 3-D slaking from close? it looks like an orangutan with big *oo*ies. well, anyway they are just the in-making pictures. i hope that the graphics improve a little more. and about the trainers, you should use the ones on your hideout format.

I wouldn't count on it. They've never let us catch the previous legendaries like him (Mew and Celebi), and they won't start now.

Hmm, neat stuff, but there is no reason to get all excited now. It's going to be a long while before the English versions are released, plus we still don't know how to actually get the unobtainable pokemon yet. Who knows how much it will cost to catch all 386 pokemon.

Does anyone know how much this might cost us? You need the Gamecube (Right?), Pokemon Stadium (How much was the original?), and that's it?

  17. #17

Default Pokemon Colosseum: the way to get the old Pokemon? (hint from Corocoro)

all gamcube games cost $50. so i guess thats what it will cost. although, if it comes with a special feature pak, it will cost more...

  18. #18

    Default No S Sherlock.

Well, it would probably cost the same thing as all other GCN games....

    $50.

GameCube cost $150. I think they are going to drop prices next year according to the GamePro Magazine.

We poor Canadians have to pay $70 for a Gamecube game, and $45 for a GBA game. Anyways, luckily I have Gamecube and GBASP, so I'll get the game the morning it comes out! I'm a sucker for Pokemon, so I'm also gonna pick up Pinball Advanced, Pokemon Channel, and Pokemon Box as soon as they come out!

Don't forget that you'll hafta buy the link cable thing to make your GBA a controller (as per so many other GBA and GC game combos. I figure that there's either a mini RPG in the stadium or you win random pokemon (tho then it would take AGES to get them all, lol...) or something unforseen. I still think they'll let you scan the cards with the e-reader as per that hidden trainer using mystery event to get pokemon. Only they never released the dang e-card reader over here... we didn't get that free card either.

The other pokemon is Ludicolov and it looks that the character of the secret bases is the trainer that will be seen next to our pokemon.

Well actually Celebi was catchable in the Japanese version of Pokemon Crystal so you never know...

Anyway has anybody else seen some of these closeup images?

    A 2 vs. 2 match. Doesn't Sceptile look awesome? Like a crouching raptor...8)

Madelyn151 here's a closeup of your beloved Typhlosion.

And here with a great looking Blaziken we see the trainers.

    Again, doesn't Sceptile look great?

On the NInterno E3 website they give more info..not much but it did mention you can battle with more than 200 pokemon so maybe only some old pokemon would be unlocked??

    Check it out here

You'll definitely be able to rent the old GSC Pokémon, and possibly maybe customise their movesets a bit, but IMHO you definitely won't be able to transfer them from GSC.

the polygon count on those pokemon is pathetic, i'm certain they are the same graphics as in the n64 version (albeit the arenas look a bit nicer and you can see pokemon trainers) to me this is just another major let down from nintendo, i don't like the company they are becoming

Default Pokemon Colosseum: the way to get the old Pokemon? (hint from Corocoro)

Why is everyone so certain that they'll get the unobtainables this way? You know, in Stadium 2, you got Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander as prizes, who's too say you won't do the same with this, and get the rarer things like Evee, OManyte, the starters, etc. etc. that way? I'm not trying to get hopes down, but, don't get your hopes up. I love Nintendo and all, but we are talking about NIntendo here.

okay.. heres what pisses me off about this game

1.) graphics.. you call these gamecube graphics? they look like they ported stadium 2 to the gcn.. I mean, Slaking is WAY too blocky.. so are the trainers..
2.) trainer replacement.. Where in God's name are Brendan & May?? why'd they replace them with these 2 ****ed up trainers that look like FF7 sprites? They did the same damn thing with Hiro & Kris/Marina in stadium 2
3.) Physical moves.. have you seen that trailer let? blaziken's blaze kick doesnt even make physical contact with swampert! And you'd think nintendo would change this since stadium 2
4.) the game is already in development, so its 0% likely that nintendo is going to improve the graphics..
5.) Nintendo.com does NOT mention anything about compatibility with GSC..

mainly, its the graphics and the trainers that piss me off.. you'd think they'd at least put the gamecube to its full potential for once. but no, they had to make sceptile look like an N64 polygon rather than a GCN wireframe..

Sure, but it's still pretty early. Did you see how bad the shots of Metroid Prime looked when it was still early in development? And look how awesome it turned out to be. There's still time to improve the graphics. Besides, graphics don't make a game. Any Pokemon player should know that.

2.) trainer replacement.. Where in God's name are Brendan & May?? why'd they replace them with these 2 ****ed up trainers that look like FF7 sprites? They did the same damn thing with Hiro & Kris/Marina in stadium 2

Uh, there are obviously gonna be more trainers available than just Brendan and May, y'know. If you're gonna complain, at least think first.

3.) Physical moves.. have you seen that trailer let? blaziken's blaze kick doesnt even make physical contact with swampert! And you'd think nintendo would change this since stadium 2
Should this really be that much of a surprise? It's a Stadium game, we should know what to expect by now.

4.) the game is already in development, so its 0% likely that nintendo is going to improve the graphics..
Actually, just the opposite. See my response to your #1.

5.) Nintendo.com does NOT mention anything about compatibility with GSC..
And since when has Nintendo.com been the most accurate and up-to-date source of news?[/B][/QUOTE]

Again, this is just a Stadium game. The whole point is to see your new Pokemon in 3D and battle with them. Graphics don't make the game, like I said. Playing Pokemon, we should all be used to that by now, since Pokemon games have never been known for great graphics.

  38. #38

Default Pokemon Colosseum: the way to get the old Pokemon? (hint from Corocoro)

    Mm.

    1) & 4) It's in development, they could change the graphics - even if they don't, the attacks don't look bad anyway! What about character animation, also? Maybe that's its strong point, we need more clips, really.
    2) It'd be extremely boring if every player was represented by the same trainer! I think it's a good addition to have variation in the trainers.
    3) I agree. This aspect annoys me slightly, I was definitely hoping for contact in this version. Come on, how difficult can it be?
    5) I can't think of any reason they'd deny us compatibility with GSC on several consecutive occasions unless it was impossible. If you can think of a decent one, let me know, but until then everyone should quit complaining that nothing will connect with GSC.
Need more info on modes and stuff about this game. ^_^

I agree with VaporousPhoenix, the most likely way to obtain the unobtainables will be via awarded Pokémon in Colosseum...
or by scanning e-reader cards (either into Mystery Event or while connected to Stadium).

you should buy a gamecube anyway as there are many excellent games you need to play (eg. zelda, metroid, f-zero...) anyway while the graphics are **** this game should be very good in the end and will certainly add life to ruby and sapphire
