That's great, so whoever didn't see it in theatres can buy it on DVD know, wow December seems a while away, but it'll sell lots since Christmas is around the corner.
I can just picture the scene when somebody at Miramax realised that...Originally posted by Hanada Tattsu

Miramax executive: What?! The Pokémon Heroes DVD might actually sell well?! We can't have that!!
The new date is January 20, 2004. Yes, I'm being serious.
That will be all.
Thanks for letting us know. They moved it to January 20th? Damned Miramax, Pokemon 5 would have acutally done well, and they postponed it. Bastards.
No kidding. It was in my movie theatre for less than a day! No, I'm not kidding you. They had to release the movie the same day as Matrix Reloaded. I really want to see the movie, Argh! Pushed back to January. I'd like to push these Miramax executives out a window!
Less than a day? Idiots, they have to give a movie a chance before they can declare it a flop.![]()
They had to make room for Matrix Reloaded. Good movie, but I still would have loved to see #5 in theatres.
Still, if #5 would have been advertised better, it would have made a much bigger fuss than it did.
its too bad that they moved it back
by the time I buy it, I will have already imported the 6th movie
I hope Miramax doesnt get the next bunch of movies
What the CENSORED?! Why the hell hold it back till January 20'th?! THAT IS SO FREAKING STUPID! I HATE YOU, MIRAMAX! DIE!
Well, a few pages back, Blue Hiker had made a petition, you may want to sign that, he wants to send it to Miramax, so it may make them do a better job with the sixth movie.
I should've suspected Miramax would do something like this...![]()

I never thought I'd be saying this, but is there anything WB can do about this, or NOA? I mean, they have to be able to do something about Miramax's poor advertising.
(In raging voice) MIRAMAX!!!! YOU'VE RUINED POKEMON MOVIES FOR MEEEEE!!!! BUT THIS IS THE FINAL STRAW!! YOU POOR SAPS HAVE BETTER HAVE A DAMN GOOD EXUSE FOR DELAYING IT!!!!!
Hanada, if I recall correctly, Miramax bought all the rights to the movies, so it looks like we're stuck with their stupid decisions. =\
Does anybody know how expensive it's gonna be? Cuz I live in The Netherlands and here they don't show/sell Pokémon movies anymore. They didn't even show four in the cinema's, and the only special we got is The return of Mewtwo.

As far as I remember, Miramax only got the rights to the fourth and fifth movies, so its a race to buy the sixth movie between WB and Miramax, hopefully WB will win.
does anyone know when the 6th movie will come out
Uh, it's still a bit too far away to know. I don't even think the distribution rights have been sorted out yet. That said, it will most likely be sometime next year.Originally posted by angelspet

I bought a bootleg DVD of the Japanese version of the 5th movie with English subs, and I think I'd be pretty much happy with just that. It's an excellent movie on its own, and I'd hate to see what 4Kids or Miramax did to it.
And you Americans think you have it bad with the movie! We Canadians never even got a theatrical release up north here! The 4th movie was the last they released up here!
And the 6th movie is currently being adapted, but only for VHS, DVD and for the GameCube (this coming from 4Kids' reply in a FAQ submitted by one of our members on this board - dunno WHY the hell they'd release it for GameCube, any ideas?)
On Gamecube?!!! No, no, no, no! Gamecubes can't play DVD's at all. You mind filling us in on where you heard that and how that is even possible. And just so you know, the fifth movie was released in like ten theatres for a day. I wouldn't count that as a theatrical release.
Gamecube DVDs run in the opposite direction from normal DVDs.
But what is the market for Gamecube DVD videos? I'm sure most people with Gamecubes have DVD players.
What are you guys smoking? Gamecubes CANNOT play DVD's, period!
They take the movies, convert them to Gamecube-game format, put them on Gamecube discs, and voila, Gamecube video discs that sell for the same price as DVD's. They're doing the same for the sixth movie in Japan, but in GBA format.

Well, for the sixth movie, Japan, but, you never know, since 4Kids is releasing Pokemon, Kirby, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Ninja Turtles for the GBA, soon.

WB only owns airing rights to the anime, not to the movie. Miramax controls that. NoA may be a different story since the own the Pokemon license in its entirety. I would recommend contacting them with the details (to anyone who wants to, not just Mr. Tattsu).Originally posted by Hanada Tattsu

I have no idea why NoA chose Miramax over KidsWb!. KidsWB! had more money to burn while Miramax did little to advertise the first two movies they handled.
"KidsWB! had more money to burn while Miramax did little to advertise the first two movies they handled"
And considering that factor, the movies did rather badly, even though the 4th did really good for a limited release, due to some online advertising and "word of mouth".
Now they're not going to release the 6th movie in USA in the theatres, but rather on DVD, VHS and GameCube (providing that this is indeed true for the latter)
Take my advice: DO NOT SUPPORT DISNEY!!! THEY LOVE TO SCREW US OVER (the mo-fo's!)
And just one question: How the hell are they releasing anime shows onto GameBoy Advace? Is the quality that good enough on a GBA/GBA-SP that they can release episodes to be seen on those incredibly small screens (albeit being semi widescreen)? And I wonder what the sound quality will be like
I felt Mirmax made no effort to really get the movie on the road. Given their place after other major production companies, one would question why they wanted the Pokemon license in the first place? It seems NoA is putting little effort in this.Originally posted by dark_myuutwo

If this's the case, 4Kids might as well drop Miramax and with NoA, do everything themselves. Just cut out the middle man. Ironic I'd give advice to a company which I don't exactly like. Now they're not going to release the 6th movie in USA in the theatres, but rather on DVD, VHS and GameCube (providing that this is indeed true for the latter)
