    Default ink-ness :)

    ink painted with pensil. the picture is quite splashy, but that's the way i want it, i love the contrast of black ink and white paper.

    it's a alakazam on the picture, i gave her a hip-sheet or something, not to cover up but give the picture more motion, i think you will understand what i means when you look at the picture

    it will be very intresting to see if you like this kind of art...
    eventually, i'll post more...

    Ahhh...I love it.

    I agree with you on the high contrast, it just makes it more eye-catching. And I like how you made Alakazam so much more sinister and evil. I love your different styles used in PokeArt!

    Yeep... you are certainly good.

    I love it. The black and white is like... so soft on the eye. It makes me sort of look at the picture for longer, since it doesnt have so many light and dark colors and all, its so easy to see, yes? Yes, Im weird... Eh. I love how you made him so... sort of, dark? With his claw/hand together with his expression looking sorta like he's deciding wether or not to throw you off to Canada. I love the sorta cloak cape on his tummy, yes, its very magestic looking. Err.. yeah. Very, very cool, and I would love to see more...

    I like it. I had never seen any sumi(sp?)-style paintings on this forum before. It sure made Alakazam look more sinister than before. I wholeheartedly agree with the cloak around the waist showing more motion.

    You've used a bamboo brush to do this, right?

    oh, you liked it, now i'm really happy =)

    bamboo brush? what's that? ^_^;
    no, i know these things exist but i never tried one, maybe i should? I mainly used a tiny synthetic pencil and a ponny-hair bursh (the most common type (and lowest cuality) often used in school brushes, thouse who like horses don't need to worry they don't kill any ponnies to make brushes out of them, they use their winter coat i think). So i'm using almost the cheapest pencils, but then i also treat them quite bad, i have not yet cleaned the pencils i used to make this picture (it's water ink so it possible i can wash them) but i'm also quite violent when i paint and sometimes destoyes or misshapes the hair on the pencil (especialy when i dry-brushing). So it's better that i don't spend too much money on brushes but these low quality ain't very good, but good enough to do the work i want

    i don't know what sumi-style is either... heh ^_^;

    Shidorah, what if you're already in Canada? ^_~ Lol, but I agree, he defenitly carries that expresion... it's so awesome. Love the contrast. Really stands out.. and also makes it look really dark, ya know? I dunno if I'm making any sence or not. But anyway, the fact that you can do that, with even those cheap pencils/brushes, etc, is amazing. I always thought Alakazam looked a little sinister, but you really brought that out even more so. The eyes, it looks as if they're glowing... it's awesome!! Keep it up!

    Dark Templar Alakazam! xD

    (Sorry, WAY too much StarCraft on me...)

    Nice work. I'm not crazy about Alakazam, but this one's pretty cool looking, and the style is quite interesting. And lookit those claws! ^_^ And that face. Wow.

    Almost makes you forget that Alakazam is a psychic-type godmoder... Heh. ^^

    Ooh, I'm glad to see a motion-like pic from you. I love motion and gesture and stuff.

    Her expression is neat, nice and serious, and her stomach looks like it would be smooth and muscular. Unlike the string-bean weak armor official one . I just love motion, hee hee ^_^. I also prefer females drawn as not "feminine" by human standards, since female animals can have beards and stuff too.

    Here's what sumi-e is from a site I had just found

    Sumi-e means: Black Ink Painting. (Japanese) Black ink on white paper, simple, elegant and serene. Simplicity is the most outstanding characteristic of Sumi-e. An economy of brush strokes are used to communicate the essence of the subject.

    I had noticed that the technique you've used for that great pic reminded me of those beautiful calligraphy seen in Asian-style art. That's why I had mentioned that I had never seen anything like this before.

    All I have to say is wow. I was completely blown away by that picture. I loved how you did your picture with the ink, gives it a shadowy feel to it. Excellent.

    ooey. It has a illustrative effect to it, as the style doesnt call for high quality detailings and form. it looks like a pose I wouldve done at one time or another, one of my self called 'boring' posese [not that yours is boring... i just have a thing for drawing things just standing around. im more into what its filled with - detail - and not so much action.. as that can reeeally complicate how well i work, as I need a certain relaism of things for some styles.]
    anywhos..
    I love the belly. thats a special linbe you have there that i quite like, the bredth of it and everything.
    I think the cloth, which I could consider a loin cloth and then some, really adds to the composition here. your right about the motion in it and you know it ^^.
    Its cool how you refer to a lot of your things as female. of course i like that. females are doved that generally by humans because of their qualities. you know.. clefairy is pink so all of them are female. *shrugs* I for one hate pink. I absolutely hate that bit of the anime where they put a bow on a few pokes to instantly show they are female. .. grrrr.... *sneer* and the bowed poke is all wussy and cuddled up and 'cutesey poosey' and.. *barf*
    er.. sorry..

    I dont like the style on myself personally, the inkyness, as it doesnt hit my values in art. But i like the effect it has from others. when looking at other peoples stuff, i know i see it differently. like most, I look at the full picture and individual details here and there, but not much else [compositional qualities]. only certain arts I would do that subconsciously on.
    I like the darkness of it, the contrast rather. yeah, that and the illustrative effect.
    I was thinking before, as this kinda reminded me of it, have you ever tried scratch board? its working are a little backwards but . just the random liney effect reminds me of scratch board. the board itself is expensive like.. hm.

    good greif Im rambly today.. o.o...

    and I meant to ask.. the way you used 'pensil' in context at the very begining of the thread makes me think you meant something else. i know pencil is danish for paint brush, and I once in a while accidentally [or purposely] call a brush a pencil ^^
    not that its very important. I happen to find your use of english .. neat. full of individuality, character. soemthing. heh ^^"
