I found "A Bite to Remember" to be a better episode than the Pellipper one. This one just had more heart and quality to it.
I'm really finding Max to be a lot sweeter character than I ever thought I would. His enthusiasm in interacting with Pokemon and even just looking at them is endearing. I can identify as I get the same feeling when I see animals in the wild or up close in a zoo.![]()
The sibling relationship between May and Max is really nice to, with them constantly referring to things that have happened between them in the past.
May's fantasy over how Torchic would look evolved was... disturbing.A fifty foot chicken with abbs of a body builder!

All the philosophy and ways to think about evolution was quite interesting too and well done.
I found Poochyena's voice in this episode to be a lot better than the dubbed ones in the first episode. It was so sweet.![]()
One hopes that Max can meet up with this Mightyena again when he becomes a trainer. They'd be great together.![]()
And as for all the non-Hoenn Pokemon seen, well... where in the game does it ever say that these Pokemon don't exist in the region? No where that I know of. After all, you can't catch Seviper in oen game version and you can't catch Zangoose in another, but both live in Hoenn. You can't catch Treekos in the wild either but they obviously live in Hoenn. And finally, and most importantly, the anime is not limited by where Pokemon live in the games.
