    Default Linkin Park embrace anime?!

Well, I've always thought Linkin Park songs would go great with anime.

Turns out a lot of people think the same way.

I'm very pleased about this. 'Breaking The Habit' is one of my favourite songs off of Meteora, and it's nice to see someone liek them helping promote anime.

My respect for these guys continues to gorw.

It's nice that a famous band is helping promote anime, but I still hate their music.

Actually, No Doubt has used scenes from Urusei Yatsura and Perfect Blue in past music videos. I can't remember which ones, since I don't really like No Doubt very much, but some of my friends do.

I know Michael Jackson put some anime clips in the Scream video, but I can't remember which series...

Wow... I never knew No Doubt did that.

It's cool that more people will probably get into anime because of this. I mean, I knew that Daft Punk did all those vids and stuff, but Linkin Park is a really good group.

And one you don't want to make AMVs to.
    Why?
    Just check AMV.org.
The single most popular artist to do an AMV to is Linkin Park. The most popular anime is Dragon Ball Z. Enter "Linkin Park" and "Dragon Ball" in the Super Search and you'll get at least 642 results.
Yes, Linkin Park does make good AMVs.
So does Evanescence (I have no idea how you spell em so don't yell at me if I'm wrong).
    Only problem: they're way overused.

    OK, that said...

I never got Meteora ;-; I feel so unlucky.

Linkin Park is still one of my most hated bands, but I just may have to try to find this video if it has anime in it. It's actually pretty cool that they're making a music vid with anime, though I dunno if it'll be good or not.

And they used to be so good too. I didn't really like Meteora, Hybrid Theory owned it. I probably will check out the video though.

Frankly, i dont give a damn who the studio is, even studio ghibli. Im a harsh rater and critic who looks at quality before producer.

On music, meh, i aint into those kind of music. Im more of a classical/instrumental/jazz person. Occasionally i listen to 'mainstream' music, but again, i look at quality.

For anime music, since i dont fully understand japanese yet, i lean towards the music before the lyrics, so im prolly onesided in rating this catogory.

I don't see how people can buy this recent crap over classics like Duke Ellington. Dubba-Yoo-Tee, man.

Today's music is far too depressing. I don't see why kids want to listen to that.

It would be quite interesting to see their music videos... Even though I don't like Linkin Park, I guess I would watch the music video once to see how they incorporate it... Sometimes the execution and direction of the video is nice, but hte music sucks.

I don't like most mainstream music today either, but Maroon 5's This Love is... addictive O_O

I love classical/oldies too, Gold 90 FM belts out some really good ones pretty often.... In 99.9999% of cases, I'd go for a classical concert than a rock/pop concert..... I tell you, it's brainwashing, my classmates are all sucked into that cult

Speaking of anime in music videos, the music video for Millenium (gorillaz) is really very good.

I saw their clip for One More Time. I think they used footage from Kamen Raider 555 or something along that name. It's good but not great.

This isn't the first time Linkin Park have had anime links. The clip for 'Points of Authority' was pure animation and exceptionally well done. Those battle scenes were very graphic and the heads scenes were great, remidned me from Evangleion. And the clip for 'Somewhere I Belong' had models from Mobile Suit Gundam in that bedroom. I think they've been fans of anime for quite a while.

It was the Reanimation Version of Points Of Autho and yes that video kicked major ass, It reminded me or Warcraft for some reason...

Daft Punk where the first though, I think.

Daft Punk actually got Leiji Matsumoto and his crew to animate a whole "movie" to go along with all fifteen tracks on their Discovery album. I have the whole movie, titled "Interstella 5555", and it's definitely one of the better anime/cartoon movies out there.

If it involves blue smurf people being kidnapped at a concert, then it sucks to illegal levels. Annoying techno music and the animation was sub-par.

lol Raz. Well, hope doesn't always cut it in this world. Especially when 99.999% of Disney is worse than that. Hey, that Daft Punk one is alright, I just wouldn't call it super.

I thought the Daft Punk videos were a fairly cute homage to the style of things like Galaxy Express 999. Not my favorite style, but not bad. And the songs certainly are catchy, whether they're breaking any musical ground or not.

You're really biased towards Japanese cartoons, aren't you? I'd say 95% of Japanese cartoons are worse than Disney movies. Shows, like Kim Possible, I can understand you saying, but not their movies. Sure Disney has had its stinkers, but so has Ghibli.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood you, but I deal with a lot of "Nippon rocks, America sucks!" people on the Internet, and I'm not exactly sure if you're one of those people.

Ok, I'd better make this clear right now.

I'm not anti-American. I respect the Amrican people. I hate corporate America and the American government. The government is a power unto their own and Bush is too dumb to live. And as for the corporates, corporate greed is the heart of America, sadly. Again, I have problem with the American people. My beef is with those running America.
I'm not a junkie of everything that is Japanese. They make a lot of stinkers too, and no, Ghibli is NOT my favourite studio! Repeat, NOT! (For those that didn't know, it's Studio GONZO)

I simply believe that Disney is one of the most evil organisations on the planet...EVER!

    My reasons?

    1. They've been stale for around 50 years now. Aside from the Lion King and Monsters Inc, Disney is truly forgettable.

    2. They live off their past glories via their massive royalties and poke funa t the rest of the world, the Disney clan actually having done no work of their own for 2-3 generations now.

    3. They almost successfully banned Michael Moore's award-winning new film Fahrenheit 911 from being screened in America! Their reason?! Innapropriate material for an election year. Screw that! The idea that an animation/movie company is dictated by politics is crap! Animation is meant to be an independent artform where people can express their views of the world freely. How pathetic. Can't handle the truth, Bush?! Afraid John Kerry will occupy the White House come November?! Get over it!

    4. They pay the US government billions per year to extend their copyright for another 90 years to around 2100. They're also tryign to get a bill through Congress allowing them to have copyright for forever and a day. Are they biased?! Hell yes!

    5. 90% of the chjaracters they came up with were direct ripoffs of the Grimms Tales and Lewis Carroll works.

Yes, I don't like Disney. I have my reasons.

  27. #27

    Default Linkin Park embrace anime?!

Okay, at least you have reasons! Others usually reply with, "Cartoons suck! Nippon is so great, and Japanese girls are all hot! American girls are ugly, the music sucks, and all their cartoons suck!" Y'know, the usual "otaku". They drive me nuts. Yes, they do use Nippon and Japanese, instead of Nippon/Nihongo or Japan/Japanese, and they don't use proper grammer, either.

Anyways, I do agree with some of your points, and Disney did start to suck after Eisner took over, but at least they have some good hits, like The Lion King, and Pixar's movies, like you said. Though, I wouldn't really group Pixar with Disney, since all Disney does is promote and distribute their movies. I'm so glad Pixar is free after 2005.

Anyways, you have valid reasons, so I respect your choices.

Last Exile, I'd say they were going to ban Michael Moore's film because the man is a miserable liar who tricks people, distorts facts, and fakes interviews. I applaud them for that, and wish they had woken up to the fact sooner.

...Ok, first off, go to hell. You AND Poser_Goth. I mean Yami_Yugi have always seemed to be on my ass no matter what I post. That comment was in no way inflammatory, nor aimed to attack M2D2, and LEAST OF ALL was meant to attack any LP fans here.

And YY, you apparently fit the archtype I explained. I never once mentioned your name and actually was thinking of a few people at my school.

Finally, I do not like Linkin Park that much. I don't hate them, but I'm not a huge fan. 90% of the fans of Linkin Park like them because they're popular/"edgy"/"cool". Do you really want anime to become even MORE pop culture than it is? Or do you not care as long as everyone sees the "OMG WUNDERS OF JAPAN"(exaggerated in the tone of all the fake otakus out there).

    And on an unrelated note:

You mean like our president who was absent during his time to serve his country? Or tells us that terrorism is the huge threat, but *gasp* Now it's Saddam Hussein?

You could at least not do the same as you condemn Moore and get some serious facts rather than insulting the man blindly. If you watched "Bowling for Columbine", it never once attacks republicans from what I remember. It simply pointed out that America is an alarmingly over-armed and over-stimulated country, and how every news story is some horrible tragedy...If you missed that, you must have sat there with a list of exact points, and wrote a page of complaints when his data was only a couple points off.

    Fair points, Mike.

As for Michael Moore, he's one of a few people willing to take a stand. 'Bowling For Colubmine' was made without bias and displayed all points of view. Okay, the guy's ticked off and out to ruffle feathers. But he does with integrity, you can't deny that. He's not a faker, M2D2, I see this as a point we'll never agree on. Wait until you see Fahrenheit 911 and then judge him on that. If someone has to be the oen to make a ruckus and point out how screwed up America and the rest of the world is, I'm glad it's him. So what if he's overweight, listens to metal, drives around in an ancient van and looks unkempt? He's got integrity and respect. That means something. He isn't one-eyed like Charlon Heston.

And yes, Bush's college education was completely bought, hje skipped 90% of his service of duty but still got credited (the Boston BGlobe did cover this fact), there's the fact he rigged the voting in Florida in the alst election by rigging thje computers to ban criminals and the greater part of the black population from voting.

Mike Moore certainly ain't perfect. But he's far better than nothing.

I can't believe they did this. *sighs* Linkin Park's really very irritating in that sense... but to be fair, if given the chance, I would send them all to http://angst.ytmnd.com and sentence them to listen to it until they die from lack of food, water, or sunlight.

Music video of anime... who cares? AMVs do the same thing and beat the **** out of Linkin Park's newer music. In The End's a pretty decent, upbeat song, and there are a few philosophical musings you can scavenge from a few lyrics, but it just pissed me off for the most part. Kill me now.
I'm not really a jerk, I just can't get this freakin' foot outta my mouth.

Greed = progress. I want to make money. In order to make money my product has to be better than other people in the market. So as a indirect result of my greed (ambition) products are evolving faster. Yes, greed can be excessive and lead to cheating the system, but I have yet to see an economic system that can completely immunize itself against human nature.

    1. They've been stale for around 50 years now. Aside from the Lion King and Monsters Inc, Disney is truly forgettable.
Translated: I haven't watch that much Disney. Mulan, Aladin, Toy Story, The Emporer's New Groove, Finding Nemo, and Beauty & The Beast are classics that came just from the 90s.

    2. They live off their past glories via their massive royalties and poke funa t the rest of the world, the Disney clan actually having done no work of their own for 2-3 generations now.
You do realize most of the clan is dead now, don't you? The CEO is Michael Eisner. And do you think Japanese companies don't get royalty checks and do bastardly things like stretch DBZ for 500 episodes too many? Quit deluding yourself.

Michael Moore has so much potential, but decides to go for overly commercial crap in his films. Bowling for Columbine was very misleading and had an abolsute crap for pacing. He never comes back to the few good points he made.

And his new movie won an award in FRANCE where HOLLYWOOD was the judge. Wow, I'm sure those Bush documentaries had a great chance.

    4. They pay the US government billions per year to extend their copyright for another 90 years to around 2100. They're also tryign to get a bill through Congress allowing them to have copyright for forever and a day. Are they biased?! Hell yes!
This is stupidity. So they can't keep rights of their films now? And how is this biased? Pro-Disney biased? Well, one should have a bias to their own freaking company.

    5. 90% of the chjaracters they came up with were direct ripoffs of the Grimms Tales and Lewis Carroll works.
Now you are being stupid. First off, it's hard to do a ripoff when the movie FUCKING CALLED THE EXACT NAME OF THE STORY. I've been to a Disney studio, and they fully admit their source material. Could it be that they are doing animated renditions of classic stories?! OMG WHAT A RIPOFF!

Yes, I don't like Disney. I have my reasons.
    Your reasons suck, fanboy.

    Default Linkin Park embrace anime?!

Check out www.bowlingfortruth.com. Did you know two of the Columbine students Michael Moore had in Bowling for Columbine have come right out and said he used all their footage out of context?

As for Michael Moore being overweight and unkempt, big honkin' whoopety-do. He does not have integrity if you ask the powerline workers he made his first documentary off of. He used them for his own gain and they're plenty angry about it. He's not an activist and he's not a friend of the working man. He's a self-righteous liar.

And this is getting way too far off topic. Yay, Linkin Park likes anime. Yay, N'Sync likes Star Wars. So there are fans of the same things as us peons in high places. Great.

You can make a case against anyone in tghis world if you dig around enough.

And I am a fanboy, big bloody deal. Sue me if it makes you feel that bad. I saw msot of those other Disney ones you mentioned. Most sucked. The other ones were Pixar's works, NOT Disney's. Pixar will be independent of Disney from January 1, 2005, and thank god for that!

On the copyright, it's not the copyright that bothers me. It's the fact they're copyrighting stolen material.

Ok, no more arguing. Let's just go back to our everyday lives.

    What 2 students? Charlie H. and C.Heston?

You've apparently lost all points you can make now...why do I say this?

1.You've resulted in insulting Michael Moore. His "kemptness" and weight have nothing to do with it.
2.You brought up a linkless attack. Most likely a lie.
3.You've decided to cut it off.

And Last Exile, for the last time, it's NOT stolen. The Lion King and Atlantis were based on creations that had become pretty much up-for-grabs. It's like using Pacman music nowadays. It's absolutely fair-use for anyone.

The Lion King is stolen material. It's a ripoff of Hamlet. The Enlgish students at the school 'm at picked it. Th English teachers picked it. I've checked it. It is the same stuff.

Errrrr... I'm afraid you confused me. What sarcasm?

I seriously consider In The End to be an upbeat song, and I don't like their later work. I don't like the mainstreaming of things, because very often quality is replaced by flash for the dollar...
I'm not really a jerk, I just can't get this freakin' foot outta my mouth.

Because in Hamlet he ran off to eat bugs with a warthog and meerkat. Oh and he sang a few songs as well. And didn't Hamlet die? Damn, Disney can't even ripoff correctly.

You also never tried to refute my issues. Disney does not hide that use make animation renditions of other stories. This is not some big cover-up or conspiracy. Does it have Hamlet's themes? Sure, and I wouldn't be surprised if a writer said he or she took those elements. It's Shakespeare, for Christ's sake. MOST writers borrows the elements from his plays. THAT'S WHY HE'S STILL REMEMBERED AFTER SEVERAL CENTURIES.

And TMM, I like how you attack M2D2 for having a linkless charge while the whopping link at the beginning of the post is pretty damning of his integrity.

Mike, I wasn't the one who mentioned Michael Moore as being overweight and looking unkempt. Last Exile did. How he looks does not influence how I judge him at all. I'm overweight myself, and spend most of my time schlubbing around in sleep pants and a T-shirt, so I don't look terribly "kempt" either. I was bringing it up because the fact that Michael Moore looks like a slob does not make his work any more true and does not make him the voice of the common man.

As for cutting off, I did it because, read carefully now, THAT'S MY JOB. I really should lock this topic since it's turning into insult slinging rather than discussion, and that's not the kind of thing we promote in OA. Then again, if I do lock it, I'll probably get accused of "hiding from the truth" or some such nonsense.

And The Lion King is very similiar to Hamlet, which is very similar to an awful lot of myths. The copyright has run-out on it. I vastly prefer Disney's older stuff- the one's from the 60's, but Disney is not the root of all evil.
