Yeah, I liked P2K better than all the other ones. I'm sure most of the other members have this one in their top rank, so you picked a good choice for a starting movie

That's the only pokemon movie I've seen, sadly enough... but I liked it. What did everyone else think?

We're not going to Guam... are we?
Great movie. The best "TR helps the good guys" stuff ever, and packed with great quotes. I have a ton of them.Shall I post them?
Yes, this was my favorite as well. Team Rocket had a nice role, and the legend thing was neat. IMO, it also had the best dubbed movie music (though MSB was pretty good too), and some of the best dialogue. Although, I really wish that Tracey would have gotten a bigger role. The only scene he really talks a lot in is one that they cut out! The poor guy... ;_;
I think my next favorite is probably Pokemon 4Ever. I happen to love anything with time travel in it, and seeing a 'certain someone' as a little boy was too cool.
I personally thought this was the worst Pokemon movie of all.
The dub was done terribly, too. In one of the first few scenes, Melody is questioning Misty about who she is. Ten seconds later, without Misty saying anything about her identity, she says something like "Oh, and Misty..." That was just lazy and someone should have caught it. Not to mention they cut out Togepi's metronome as what freed the legends for a reason no one has been able to give me a satisfactory explanation for. Was there any point in taking out that one scene, but keeping in scenes with Slowking saying "I wish I had pants."?
The movie itself was kind of anti-climactic. You rarely see much else besides that one area where the four birds are fighting. It's kind of hard to grasp a "The world is going to be destroyed!" feel if you don't see anything besides some storm clouds in Pallet.
Overall, I disliked the movie.

"Disturb not the harmony of fire, ice, or lightning
Lest these titans wreak destruction upon the world in which they clash
Though the water's great guardian shall arise to quell the fighting
Alone its song will fail, thus the earth shall turn to ash.
O Chosen One, into thine hands bring together all three
Their treasures combined tame the beast of the sea."
Jessie: "Prepare for more trouble than you've ever seen!"
James: "And make it double, we're on the big screen!"
Ash: "I'll have to catch this on video!"
Slowking: "I could use pants..."
Melody: "Why are you coming?"
Misty: "To find Ash! And before you start saying it's because I secretly like him, don't! Cause I don't!"
Melody: "Hey, chill out! You sure are sensitive about someone who's not your boyfriend."
Misty: *sigh* "Welcome to my world. I have to deal with his stubborn attitude every single day!"
Melody: "You'll get used to it. That's just something you're going to have to deal with when the two of you get married."
Misty: "Take that back!"
Jessie: "Listen, kid, if you get involved with the opposite sex, you're only asking for trouble."
James: "Yes, and that's the kind of trouble...I stay out of."
Meowth: "Youz two don't need the opposite sex cause ya got each otha!"
Misty: "You play Lugia's song. I'll go look for him. And Ash is never really alone because he's got...me." (awwww...)
Jessie: "We're slowing Lugia down, the three of us are too heavy!"
James: "Let's try Weight Watchers..."
Jessie: "It's too late for that!"
Meowth: "I hoid it's never too late if you REALLY STICK TO DA PROGRAM!"
James: "If that's true, that means all intelligent life will be destroyed!"
Jessie: "That's right..."
James: "And I'll be..."
Meowth: "You'll be fine."
Slowking: "Guess again..."
Jessie: "What...did you...say?"
Slowking: "Lots of people saw what you did back there! And all of them are watching you right now."
Jessie: "Oh...so then I guess the bad guys..."
James: "...are finally..."
Meowth: "...good guys!"
Jessie: "So then we're not bad!"
James: "That's good!"
Meowth: "What if da boss finds out?"
James: "That's bad!"
Jessie: "We'll start our own team!"
James: "That's good!"
Meowth: "But we got no money!"
James: "That's bad!"
Jessie: "Then we'll just steal some!"
James: "That's good!...Or is that bad?"
Jessie: "If that kid thinks we're here for trouble..."
James: "...we're certainly going to burst his bubble!"
Jessie: "Instead of causing tribulation..."
James: "...we've undergone a transformation!"
Jessie: "Though it's way outside our usual range..."
James: "We're going to do something nice for a change!"
Jessie: "Jessie!"
James: "James!"
Jessie: "Up till now, Team Rocket's been quite unscrupulous..."
James: "...being good guys for once would be super-dupulous!"
Meowth: "Daaaaat's riiiiiight!"
Ash: "You wanna help??"
James: "Of course!"
Jessie: "We don't want the world destroyed! Besides, even if we survived..."
James: "...we'd have no one left..."
Jessie: "...to steal from!"
James: "We'd be out of work!"
Jessie: "Come to think of it...when WAS the last time we had a vacation?"
Meowth: "We'll be on a poimanent vacation if we don't get to dat island!! Let's do it!!!"
Jessie: "I'd hate to get burned by their fire..."
James: "I'd hate to get zapped by their lightning..."
Meowth: "I'd hate to get hit by...their droppings!"
Jessie: "Well if things are going to get ugly, we may as well try Weezing!"
This has been my favorite movie so far too. The animation was great, the plot was great, the music was great. After all, how could anyone not like a movie that had Articuno in it (my 2nd favorite Pokemon)? I love that flute song, too.
You may already know this, but I was fascinated by the antigonist. On the surface he appears to be little more than a parody of the target audience, but there's something...more. Perhaps it's his detachment from reality, that he lives entirely in and for his own world, perhaps it's his refusal to give up (yes, I prefer the dub version of him for reasons more than the better voice), perhaps it's his unshakeable manner in the face of great challenge, but Jirarudan has fascinated me since the first viewing.
...actually, before then. I saw a comic adaptation of the movie at a Japanese import store, and I like to know what happens to the villians (just something I do *g*). I turned to the back of the book and saw him looking out to the twilight, the Mew Card in his hand...
That was something I couldn't forget. As much as I like villians, I rarely feel sorry for them, so I knew there was going to be something different about him...
When they are on Fire island that lady who drove the boas ate chips and cocoa,
and the chips are in Japanese, hah, stupid translator peoples..

(homeofmew#1337)
Yeah, I saw that too. My English teacher pointed it out too. I am sure they kept it in for a reason.
I felt sorry for Lawrence when all of his purty trophies fell into the water and when his Ancient Mew card decreased in value after being on the ground. Do you know what night air does to a card? Not to mention how it was probably caught in debris and scratched. Of couse, he could had just come to the movies and gotten one of the 50 million cards released to the public, which once again probably decreased his cards value by a lot.
In one of my TCG books, it shows one Ancient Mew card like the one we got, and a much darker and cooler one that is worth way more. Anyone know how people in Japan got that one?
*looks around* "Lawrence"? Who is this "Lawrence"?
Seriously, the movie never calls him that.
And the Japanese card isn't darker, at least not the one I have (came with a program book! Whee!). But then, I also have the corrected version of it rather than the extremely valuable misprinted one, so that one might be darker than the other two.
Yeah, they never say his name in the dialogue. Not sure if they say Jirarudan anywhere in the Japanese dialogue, heh, but Blackjack didn't you say in some thread on BMG about closed captioning not calling him Lawrence? What did it call him, Girarden or something?

Closed captioning calls him Gelarden, which is very close to a few French names. And it was rumored that "Jirarudan" is a mispronuniation of a French name, so it's possible the dub got closer to what they were *trying* to name him.
And the original never refers to him by name either. He introduces himself as a Collector, same as in the dub, and that's all the identity he really has.
That's funny. I am watching it right now and the captions clearly say "Lawrence." Maybe it has something to do with where you buy it from?
Melody: "Why are you coming?"
Misty: "To find Ash! And before you start saying it's because I secretly like him, don't! Cause I don't!"
Melody: "Hey, chill out! You sure are sensitive about someone who's not your boyfriend."
The funniest thing about that quote is when Tracey comes up and says
"hey, are you guys talking about me?"
That cracked me up, also the best thing about this movie is you see all of the three main charcters Pokemon at the beginning, unlike in the other movies where you see a select few.
PKMN 2000 is probably my favorite, seeing as if I lost interest around the 5th move when they started the whole 'Advanced Generation' crap.
That's too bad, since you're missing out on some of the best Pokemon has to offer. I wouldn't let false pretenses keep you from enjoying the sixth movie or Advanced Generation.Originally Posted by Nina

As for Pokemon 2000, it is indeed up there among my faves, though it has its faults, mostly dub-related. It's all made up for with the beauty of the scenes involving my personal favorite legendary bird, Moltres. It really captured the elegance of this phoenix unlike many of the in-game sprites and official images do. Articuno looked awesome as well, and all fo them displayed great fighting abilties in possibly the longest Pokemon battle ever seen. Lugia's Hyper Beam (there is no evidence it was Aeroblast) sequence remains one of the most well done huge attacks we've seen. Lugia really shines in this movie, it's abilties being well shown.
And of course, the various Pokeshipping hints were nice too.![]()
No Hyper Beam we've ever seen looks like that.Originally Posted by AKA Pokemon Fan

Anyway, I'd say it's the best Pokemon movie(seeing I only seen this one and the third one :-_-: ).
A few interesting quote:
Man in mask: The ancient propechy has foretold your arrival. In your hand can the guardian of water vanquish the guardian of fire, ice, and lightning. In your hand, O chosen one...In your hand lies the fate of the world!
Ash: It does?
Man in mask: Heh, don't let it worry you, kid. It's just for the tourist!
Jessie: He's(Ash) always the hero!
James: We're always the zero!
Meowth:We could be heroes, too if we ever caught a break!
Please take it easy~
That man's name is Tobias. Like Jirarudan, his name only shows up on the captions.
The power of one is def my favorite out of all the pokemon movies...heh, dunno why! I just like it...plus, pokemon 4 ever and pokemon heroes weren't the best movies ever....but yeah, I liked the whole pokeshipping deal in pkmn 2000
It was a big energy beam that charged and fired just like most all Hyper Beams we've seen. Hyper Beams very in color greatly throughout the series, some being white, others yellow, others (like the Gyarados one in MSB) being a variety of colors. But in all of them they start out as a small orb that gathers energy then explodes outward in a beam. This is exactly like what Lugia did.Originally Posted by Blackjack Gabbiani

In contrast, in every version of the game Aeroblast is basically a beam of wind energy, very different from a Hyper Beam. While in-game attacks need not resemble the anime ones, the fact that Lugia's beam looked and behaved just like any very strong Hyper Beam means there is no reason to think it was Aeroblast. Unfortunate as it is, the movies generally have not shown a Legendary Pokemon's signature move. Latias and Latios never did Mist Ball or Luster Purge, and Jirachi never used Doom Desire.
Thus unless a Japanese book or commentary, etc. calls that attack Aeroblast, I don't see how anyone can be remotely certain it was anything more than a Hyper Beam.![]()
