The arena will be… Poke Floats! High above the ground, a kajillion Pokemon-shaped balloons bob around and bump into one another and it’s all quite cool and absurd. The balloons are peculiarly solid and cannot be popped or distorted in any way. Every few rounds, the balloon you’re on will randomly start losing altitude and you will lose an action in order to jump to the next balloon. Frozen/Sleeping Pokemon will sense the altitude loss and, in an incredible panic, will overcome their statuses to hop to the next balloon. Even mobility-challenged Pokemon like Probopass or Snorlax can hop.
Also, the balloons have a kind of cool power to strengthen attacks based on what type of Pokemon the balloon is. For example, if you’re on a Walrein balloon, Water and Ice moves will be boosted. If you’re on a Meowth balloon, Normal moves will be boosted. Remember that you have to physically be on the balloon to get the boost, so if you’re flying around or Levitating, no boost for you. Oh, and my Swellow will be flying around to catch Pokemon that fall. No messy accidents on Tweety’s watch, no sirree!
Certain moves that require solid ground beneath you (Earthquake, Dig, Ingrain, etc.) will fail. As well, I’m banning non-damaging healing moves (Roost and Rest, but not Mega Drain or Drain Punch). The participants can choose other moves to ban and can decide on whether abilities will be active. I have no preference. DQ time will be seven days, though.
