The Arena
Caribbean, near the coral reefs. So we can swim around them and use them as cover or other attacking stuff. There are small islands of white sand (a few have palm trees) dotted about if any of the more land based Pokémon want to fight.
Ready! FIGHT!
Ahh the Caribbean, where the waters are clear, the sky is blue, and small coral reefs dot the sea-scape. This is where we find our Ref, laying back lazily on an inflatable tube-raft. As two floating platforms make their way to the area, River and Arbiter release their Pokémon. Oolichan, a nice little Dratini swims playfully in the water as the Inverted Duckbot , floats like… well… a duck on seawater.
The match begins just as the Ref disappears in a splash of water, the iner-tube deflated and floating on the top of the water.
Oolichan starts off by curling her body up, a shimmering white dome of energy surrounding her as she lowers herself in the water (-9). The Duckbot floats on the water, until his two legs start to spin around like paddles, giving it a burst of speed (-6) as the water becomes choppy in it’s wake.
With its new round of speed, Duckbot takes a dive… literally as it searches for the little Dragon. Finding an unusual white glow in the middle of a blue sea, the Porygon cuts loose with a trio of elemental beams (-7). Granted, the beam of flame fizzles out after immediate contact, the freezing one leaves shards of ice in the vicinity, and the electric beam zaps directly towards the hexagon-domed Dragon Pokémon.
After a massive concusion as elemental forces meet an immobile defense, Oolichan is sent flying towards the coral bed through the dust and shockwave (-3, -5), the swirling hexagons following her. Righting herself in the sea before crashing on the coral reefs, she glares up at the wading Duckbot and her eyes begin to glow (-8). The Duckbot, on the other hand is confused. What once was calm seas, starts to become turbulent and then chaotic as a maelstrom. Being rolled along waves 20 feet high, the Porygon is dunked under the water, to rise, and then dunked again, being battered by the massive waves (-9).
Its eyes spinning, Duckbot shakes its head, snapping it back to… well its version of reality. Ducking under the water, the Porygon finds its target and releases a burst of charged up energy (-8). It flows difficultly through the still turbulent water, nearly refracting off target, dealing a glancing blow (-4). To try and keep up with the speeding artificial Pokémon, Oolichan, relaxes herself, letting her muscles become spring-like in effect (-6).
End for Round 1… and the ref is still missing <-<U
Round 1! Post-Round Stats
Oolichan (Dratini, Female, Team River)
HP: 88
MP: 77
Status: Agile (SPD +). Safeguarded for 2 more Rounds.
Inverted Duckbot (Porygon, Team Arbiter)
HP: 91
MP: 79
Status: Row-boat (SPD +), trying to target the sea-Dragon.
Ref Notes: Water has a weird ability to refract and bend light. It does the same with Energy to some degree. Electricity has a hard time traveling in salt water, and it takes more of a decrease in temperature to freeze it, and fire can’t really exist underwater, which is why the Tri Attack only had two of three beams hit at less damage. There IS a danger of hitting the coral Reefs in the area, which would cause -3 HP damage.
