Default River VS The Arbiter [Ref: Mew Master]

My last battle besides my Gym Match is almost over so I would like another fight. If anyone would be so kind?

1 VS 1 (but it can be longer if you like)
Banned Moves: Non-damaging healing moves and Toxic. (add as many others as you wish)
    DQ: 1 week
Arena: Well I'm open to anything but let's try an ocean eh? Caribbean, near the coral reefs. So we can swim around them and use them as cover or other attacking stuff. There are small islands of white sand (a few have palm trees) dotted about if any of the more land based Pokémon want to fight.

    I'll use my Dratini♀ Oolichan

So set up your Pokémon and attacks please. A Ref would be great too.

I'll battle you, if you don't mind. I need a rematch anyway... ;-)

I choose my porygon, Inverted Duckbot!

Attacks will come once we find a referee.

Aye; I was pondering using my sneasel for this battle, but I didn't want to be cheap with type advantage. Plus, I decided that I wanted to evolve porygon sooner than sneasel...

Oh, and before I forget, can we add Toxic to the list of banned attacks?

    Round 1! Pre-Round Stats
Banned Moves: Non-Damaging Healing Moves, Toxic.
    DQ: 1 Week
    Pokémon: O vs. O
Theme: Life is a Highway (Chris LeDoux)

    Oolichan (Dratini, Female, Team River)
    HP: 100
    MP: 100
    Status: Swimingly.
    Safeguard~Surf~Agility

    Inverted Duckbot (Porygon, Team Arbiter)
    HP: 100
    MP: 100
    Status: Computerized.
Agility~Tri Attack~Signal Beam (Subs: Mirror Coat)

    The Arena

Caribbean, near the coral reefs. So we can swim around them and use them as cover or other attacking stuff. There are small islands of white sand (a few have palm trees) dotted about if any of the more land based Pokémon want to fight.

    Ready! FIGHT!

Ahh the Caribbean, where the waters are clear, the sky is blue, and small coral reefs dot the sea-scape. This is where we find our Ref, laying back lazily on an inflatable tube-raft. As two floating platforms make their way to the area, River and Arbiter release their Pokémon. Oolichan, a nice little Dratini swims playfully in the water as the Inverted Duckbot , floats like… well… a duck on seawater.

The match begins just as the Ref disappears in a splash of water, the iner-tube deflated and floating on the top of the water.

Oolichan starts off by curling her body up, a shimmering white dome of energy surrounding her as she lowers herself in the water (
-9). The Duckbot floats on the water, until his two legs start to spin around like paddles, giving it a burst of speed (-6) as the water becomes choppy in it’s wake.

With its new round of speed, Duckbot takes a dive… literally as it searches for the little Dragon. Finding an unusual white glow in the middle of a blue sea, the Porygon cuts loose with a trio of elemental beams (
-7). Granted, the beam of flame fizzles out after immediate contact, the freezing one leaves shards of ice in the vicinity, and the electric beam zaps directly towards the hexagon-domed Dragon Pokémon.

After a massive concusion as elemental forces meet an immobile defense, Oolichan is sent flying towards the coral bed through the dust and shockwave (
-3, -5), the swirling hexagons following her. Righting herself in the sea before crashing on the coral reefs, she glares up at the wading Duckbot and her eyes begin to glow (-8). The Duckbot, on the other hand is confused. What once was calm seas, starts to become turbulent and then chaotic as a maelstrom. Being rolled along waves 20 feet high, the Porygon is dunked under the water, to rise, and then dunked again, being battered by the massive waves (-9).

Its eyes spinning, Duckbot shakes its head, snapping it back to… well its version of reality. Ducking under the water, the Porygon finds its target and releases a burst of charged up energy (
-8). It flows difficultly through the still turbulent water, nearly refracting off target, dealing a glancing blow (-4). To try and keep up with the speeding artificial Pokémon, Oolichan, relaxes herself, letting her muscles become spring-like in effect (-6).

End for Round 1… and the ref is still missing <-<U

    Round 1! Post-Round Stats

    Oolichan (Dratini, Female, Team River)
    HP: 88
    MP: 77
Status: Agile (SPD +). Safeguarded for 2 more Rounds.

    Inverted Duckbot (Porygon, Team Arbiter)
    HP: 91
    MP: 79
Status: Row-boat (SPD +), trying to target the sea-Dragon.

Ref Notes: Water has a weird ability to refract and bend light. It does the same with Energy to some degree. Electricity has a hard time traveling in salt water, and it takes more of a decrease in temperature to freeze it, and fire can’t really exist underwater, which is why the Tri Attack only had two of three beams hit at less damage. There IS a danger of hitting the coral Reefs in the area, which would cause -3 HP damage.

*snicker* Porygon refered to as a row-boat. Lol.

Alrighty then, thanks Mew man! You be fast ^^. So Oolichan I think we are going to be staying under the waves. First use a Shock Wave followed by a Double Team if that's possible to do underwater. If not, use a Twister and a Thunderbolt.

If he tries a Psychic, Mimic it.

She's gonna have a hard time shooting off an electric attack in water, Duck, let alone two of 'em. I want you to retreat to the top of the ocean and use Magnet Rise to levitate over the calm seas. Hopefully, the electric attacks will do more harm to herself than to you.

If she successfully pulls of Double Team under water, use Thunder! The water will carry the electricty and should hopefully destroy them all. However, if she uses Twister instead, use another Agility to dodge it! Finally, use Swift to guarantee her a barrage of hits!

    Ready! FIGHT!

Hmm… what’s that weird red spot on the waves? Eh? Oh yeah! Round 2!

Wirling its feet like a row-boat who’s directors don’t know where to go, Duckbot starts to rise above the sea water, hovering several feet above (
-11). Oolichan, on the other hand, starts to constrict and writher around like a burning snake. Sparks start to collect around her as she sends a blast of multiple electric sparks up through the sea water (-9/-3) and hitting the Porygon.

Glowing slightly, Oolichan starts to split into multiple images underwater, the refractive properties of the water making it even harder to find the real Dratini (
-5). Sparking with concentrated energy, Duckbot releases a massive lightning bolt that’s wider than its whole body, channeling through him like a hunk of copper wiring. The lightning bolt hits the sea water, there’s a fizz and sizzle as salt-water is turned to steam (-9). However, the attack had little effect, (-5), it did manage to dissolve the Dragon Pokémon clones.

Opening a panel somewhere on its artificial body, dozens of tiny stars blast forward, splashing into the ocean and causing a small bit of turbulence. Underwater, Oolichan’s hit as the stars try to keep on target (
-3/-2) under the still wavy sea. Mumbling in response, the Dratini convulses again and unleashes a larger electric attack than before, managing to get through the water and blast out at the Porygon, who hovers out of the way of the attack, because of the delayed time between discharge (-7).

End of Round 2… hey… what’s that dark shape over there?

Ref Notes: Water has a much lower electric conductivity than fresh-water, thus electric attacks are going to be slower. Also, lightning bolts that hit the surface of the water are usually instantly discharged and nullified due to the immense size of the body of water in question (Ocean). However things in the immediate vicinity of the strike would take some damage, although greatly reduced. The transfer of energy from outside and into water is great, thus many attacks that don’t either originate from under water will do less damage to those under the water’s surface.

Hm... perhaps sending a porygon out into the ocean wasn't the most well-thought out plan. Unfortunately, I have no other water pokemon that aren't battling aside from Leviathan, and that'd be overkill.

No matter; Duck, dive into the water and Lock-on to Ooli so you can keep track of her. Then, use Agility + Skull Bash; charge at her no matter where she is, building up momentum, then bash her as hard as you can! However, if Ooli does something foolish like using Protect or Detect, relax instead!

Alright Ooli, let him Lock-On while you just take a breather. Then as he comes for you with the speedy Skull Bash, fry him with a Thunderwave when he's close enough. Then, as he is right beside you in the water, use a Thunder.

Hmm… no one’s seen the Ref… In any case, Round 3!

Cursing the science that gave him life, Duckbot plunges down into the water, and searches for the little Dratini who’s been using the ocean for her own personal shield! Once he spots her, little red-laser-like beams search and then converge on the Dragon Pokémon, who’s just sitting there, content with herself (
    -2/+5).

Finding its target the Inverted-one starts to spin his legs… feet, lower appendages? around faster, giving him momentum as his head lowers and resembles a Transformers battle sequence (
-3 (Agility), -7 (Skull Bash), -3 (Combo)) as the Artificial Pokémon’s head gains a glow of white burning energy before he blasts off like a dead-headed torpedo. Watching this, Oolichan starts to twist her body, electricity charging up for a counter attack (-6)?

Ramming right into Oolichan, the Duck scores a direct hit (
-10), however, the Dratini releases her attack as he connects and starts to rebound back. A net of electrical energy, dampened by the water ensnares the Porygon, scrambling his circuits (Paralyzed).

Continuing to contort and twist, Oolichan unleashes a massive underwater lightning strike (
-10/-5) that doesn’t seem to do as much damage as it should… damn salt water.

As we end Round 3, does anyone else hear eerie music?

None of the attacks you're going to use require movement, so hopefully paralysis won't stop you from using them. Start out with Thunder to get rid of the clones as well as damage her! Then relax; right as she fires off her Dragon Pulse, Teleport to the top of the water so she wastes her energy.

    Ready! FIGHT!

Ya know, that music is starting to get… closer. Round 4!

Glowing faintly, the Dragon Pokémon starts to split off into multiple copies again (
-6). The Duckbot is getting sick of this trick and starts to gather energy from the ions in the sea water (-11), however, he’s lost sight of which Oolichan’s the real Oolichan. Trying to pick apart the illusions from the real thing, he discharges the gathered electricity at one. The burst doesn’t hit the Dratini directly but it does dissolve the rest of the clones from the surrounding charge (-6).

Taking a breather, the Porygon just slowly sinks there in the ocean, not needing to breathe is an asset right now (
+5). While Oolichan starts to re-set up her defenses (-8), small hexagons floating around her snake-like form.

With her defenses in place, the Dratini charges up a sphere of pure draconic energy and then unleashes it directly at the Inverted Duckbot (
-9). The Duckbot, its body still twitching tries to flash out of the way, but is too late as the beam hits him, jarring him enough to teleport before he’s hit too much by the blast (-3, -5), and is now floating on the surface, somewhat content but still spasmy from the electricity buzzing through its system.

Ref Notes: Water has a much lower electric conductivity than fresh-water, thus electric attacks are going to be slower. 0 Energy will not mean an instant KO. Instead it will mean that the Pokémon will start using Health in place of the Energy for a 2-for-1 basis.

Duck, if we win this, you're moving up on the evolution priority list - even higher than Danae and Perseus, and I've wanted them to evolve ever since I got 'em...

Anywho, here's what we're gonna do: Lock-on to Candlefish and Teleport inches away from her. Finally, use Ice Beam from point-blank range to make her very uncomfortable. However, if she uses Protect before you fire off Ice Beam, relax instead.

    Relax

Hmmm ok Ooli, Protect against the Lock-On, then go and hide in the coral reef and Relax for two turns. If however he is paralyzed the first round, hit him with a Draco Meteor, then go hide.

    Protect/Hide and Relax x Two
    Sub: Draco Meteor

Oolichan used less energy in teleporting than Duckbot did?

Actually More. She was copying the move as well as the same ammount. however the Duckbot only used 15 total energy (-1 health to cover the extra energy) and Oolichan used 17 energy (12 + an extra -3 Health to cover the energy drain).

    *checks post really quick however...*

Okay... there's a slight Math problem... let me fix it...

Ok renew your Safeguard then swim far enough away that the Ice Beam will fizzle out before it hit you and Relax x Two. If moving takes an action then move and Relax.

Safeguard/Move and Relax or Relax x Two

    The Arena

Started in the Caribbean, near the coral reefs. Now currently out in open ocean.

    Ready! FIGHT!

Floating in open ocean, the Fight gets a whee bit more intense.

Sitting and twitching as its systems are still scrambled, the Duckbot rests for a short bit (
+5). While Oolichan instead sets up her defenses in an all too familiar hexagonal options (-5, -2 (Energy Substitute)).

Wiggling her serpentine body, the Dratini makes her move, dashing as far from the Porygon as her snake-like body will allow. The artificial Pokémon, however, just continues to float there in the water (
    +5).

Energy gathered back once again, the Duckbot summons a beam of intense cold from within its own systems, blasting it towards the swift moving Dratini. The salt-water freezes on contact, jetting forward towards Oolichan (
-9). The Dragon Pokémon swam far, but not far enough to get out of range. Slamming a chunk of frozen salt water into her, her only saving grace is that she was far enough not to get the full brunt of the attack (-6). After taking the hit, Oolichan just floats in the water trying to recoup (+5).

Well with us in the open sea… where’s the Ref. He got tossed up onto the beach with the tsunami, a small dog-fish (which is actually a shark) biting and hanging onto his butt, snarling. Round 7’s over for now!

    Round 7! Post-Round Stats
