Far Cry help

I just got a new computer with a GeForce 6800 that include FarCry. My brother said he installed it with no problems, but when I put the First Disk (Game Disk), the autorun starts and I select play. The FarCry splash comes up and freezes the game. It does appear with C+A+D it except on processes and I have to terminate it. I got the 1.1 patch for it and looked at the FarCry message boards, who have been having the same problem. I have also restarted my computer to death and repaired the thing about 5 times. Anyone have any ideas?

tried just clicking the shortcut to the game instead?

edit: also, install the newest drivers for the 6800 if you haven't already.
