My little brother had watched it at 7AM every weekday morning before school for a while. The first episode I paid attention to was "Island of the Giant Pokemon". The first full episode I saw was "Clefairy and the Moon Stone".

I'm not exactly sure which one I saw first, but I'm certain it was either "Thunder Shock Showdown" or "Battle Aboard the St. Anne". Those two episodes were what first drew me into the series, followed by the (in?)famous "Island of the Giant Pokemon".
Ah... memories.![]()
Having watched Pokemon for years, the first episode I ever watched is just that, the first episode aka Pokemon, I choose you.

"Pokemon: The First Movie." I wanted to see Toy Story 2, but it was out, so my mom made mre go there instead. I'm glad she did.
My first episode was "The Pewter City Showdown", I think. It's been four or so years, so I don't really remember my first days in Pokemon.

I'm the only person I know who likes or has liked Pokemon, yet never played the TCG. It's always been the show, which got me into the games, and that's as far as it went.

I never really liked the cards either. I only like watching the show and playing the video games. I can just kick myself for buying all the tcg cards though, what a waste
Anyways, the first episode I ever saw was "Holy Matrimony"
thats an awesome episode =)
Electric Shock Showdown. I hated it back then. The programme, that is. My older brother was obsessed with Pokemon, and made me watch it on Sky when we were in a Hotel . Then when I got into it, they aired it on terrestrial TV back home so I tuned in.

My first episode was "Pokémon, I choose you!". Yep, the very first episode.
I was one of the few that got into Pokémon almost from day 1. I heard about the Anime a while after I got the game, and then waited for its premiere in Mexico.![]()
Battle Abord the St Anne was it for me, being the first episode to air saying it was a 'preview episode' for some reason. Next day was the actual first episode.
I was really thrown off by seeing that episode first, especially because I wasn't very use to anime- I remember seeing the "Cooooool" scene and I saying to my brother "This show is... werid." but once everything got in order it became better for me. :p
Hey guys.
I recall seeing a clip of "School of Hard Knocks" as my first hint - I might have seen the whole thing, but my memory is a giant hunk of Swiss cheese, so I can't remember which episode was my first one.
The Place That Is No More - Because the world needed to hear me rant and rave.
My ASB A-Team: Qwerty (Magneton), Cici (female Shuckle), Pudge (male Persian), Fuji (male Torkoal), Light (Starmie), Matthias (male Flygon) (six others)
We never got pokémon on TV where I live (though I hassled the TV station to get it). I saw the first movie at the cinema because I was interested in the pokémon TCG, and I got drawn into the show too. So I got out the series on video.
Thus, the first episode of the show I ever saw was Episode 1: Pokémon, I Choose You!
Cheers!

My very episode of Pokemon was the first episode of the series: Pokemon, I Choose You!

Wow, just looking through all of them just shows how long people in general have been into Pokemon since they're all really early episodes!
The first episode I ever watched was "Charmander - The Stray Pokemon", where Ash met and caught Charmander. It's still one of my faves, probably for the nostalgic value though. I'd recorded it and a bunch of other stuff and watched it later that afternoon and as I was rewinding it onscreen back to the beginning (before I watched it through) I remember seeing the part where Jessie and James had set that ridiculous moving red bubble thing to capture Pikachu and just wondering "What the hell is this about?".
It was also the first anime I'd ever seen and the style of the cartoon really perplexed me. Ahh, memories.
Yeah, I know what you mean. In "Battle Aboard the St. Anne", they used the exact same animation of the Pikachu pyramid several times. I remember thinking something along the lines of "Jeez, these animators are lazy." Little did I know that such reuse of graphical sequences is a highly accepted anime convention. Serves me right for having watched little besides Bugs Bunny and Wheel of Fortune before then.Originally Posted by PokePaul

Well, I actually became interested in Pokemon before I even knew about the show, but the first episode i saw was "I Choose You" and it was by sheer fluke too.
First episode I ever saw was "The school of hard knocks"
My memory's a bit foggy, but I believe it was "Water Flowers of Cerulean City"
The human soul is an overrated commodity. I've bought sold, and traded them for pokemon cards"- Mr. Hell
It was definitely the first episode. I originally read about Pokemon in an old issue of Nintendo Power long before it was released (it had Ken Griffey Jr. baseball on the cover) it was a preview. Anyways I was hooked, not long after that they had more and more about it and those little "pokemon power" books. I loved them. I was totally in love with pokemon
I used to visit a website named "Charmander's Pokemon Centre" I wish it was still around because it was really a marvel of the old internet ways. Geocities websites that were actually popular? My favourite part of the website is that it had pictures of all 150. That was when Pokemon seemed so much more serious, more mysterious. Just look at the old picture of Rattata!
From Canada, watching YTV our series started a little bit later than U.S.A. I would read the forums and be jealous, they were talking about how much of a jerk Meowth was for scratching Ash (in Viridian Forest, one of the earlier episodes) and I was like man I wish the show was here![]()
Then one night of randomly watching TV, there was a commercial for like.. other shows. Anyways, there was a split second rendition of Misty catching Horsea from above. I was overjoyed. I was like "Holy shit, is that it??" and I waited for it to run again so I could see it. Well, I was a happy little boy.
Anyways, it aired Sundays at 7AM. Who wants to get up that early? Anyways I just taped it. I think I watched my "I choose you" to the end of the viridian forest episode tape too many times. I stopped taping them after that, because I think it shifted times after that.
So yeah, the first episode![]()
The first one I saw was "The Ghost of Maiden's Peak", but then i had one week without watching, so you could say I only really started with "Primeape Goes Bananas".
Luckily, they had reruns later. ;D
The first one I saw was when Ash and Misty reached Cerulean City and battled for the Cascade Badge.

The first episode I saw was "Battle Aboard the St. Anne." I didn't care for it so I didn't watch the cartoon again for about a month at which point I only started watching it because I had gotten addicted to the video game.
1) There's no excuse for laziness, but I'm working on it!
2) I will live forever or die trying
3) It's only funny until somebody gets hurt...............then it's hilarious
I first saw the first couple of minutes of ugh... forgot the ep name. The P1 grand prix where Primape fights Hitmonlee. At that point I was a "ew pokemon" kinda guy. Then I saw the entire episode of "Pikachu's Goodbye" and it got me interested.
1st: Pokemon I Choose you
Favourite: pikachus Goodbye
Most annoying: Wake up Snorlax

'twas Pewter showdown IIRC. I liked it, then all the non gym battles came, I hated it. Then Lt.Surge came, loved it, etc... I was always pissed at the creators for letting Ash have a badge for saving the gym from Team Rocket or something. I wanted, and still want, more battles. Even in Fanfiction I'm eager on battling.
The TCG rocked though. I had an enormous collection with lots of rare cards, played constantlyand was rather good at it aswell, to bad you can't play it online...
The first episode I saw was "Abra and the Psychic Pokémon". Way back when It used to come on weekday mornings on UPN. It was during the summer and when school was back in session, I had to start taping it. I think that was back in '97 or '98....

4Kids, I hate you for ruining 2 of my favorate shows
First episode I saw was Charmander the Stray Pokemon. As soon as the episode started, I couldn't figure out for the life of me who Jessie and James are and why they wanted Pikachu. Hey, I still can't figure that out.
I always thought it was kind of campy how Ash caught Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle in that order one episode after another.
It's because Sato's Pikachu has a Light Ball practically shoved up its--well, let's just say it's because he's much stronger than most Pikachu in the electricity department.
As for first eppie I ever saw; believe it or not, it was the pilot episode of Battle Aboard the St. Anne! I remember it had different dialogue...well, it was either that episode or Primape Goes Bananas. Those were the first episodes I remember seeing on UPN.^_^ Back then I didn't even know about Mario! And I was 9!@_X

First: Farfetch'd.
Seen way too many times: "The Problem with Paras"
For me it was that one with Tentacool and Tentacruel and that bratty little girl.
And yes, Electabuzz had a riduclous voice in that episode.
Hurrahblubalubalubalubaaaa!!
The first episode I ever saw was "Tower of Terror", from the point Charmander tries Leer against Haunter.
The first episode I saw from beginning to end was "The K9 squad".
But the episode that really got me into the thing was "Volcanic Panic".
Eh, depends.
The first I ever saw was the St. Anne episode, from a tape I got from Nintendo Power.
But the first I saw on TV was the very first episode.
Master of ElectricityCredits for the awesome banner go to Saffire Persian
The first episode I saw, like many others, was the pilot/preview episode of 'Battle Aboard the St. Anne'. Oddly enough, I instantly liked James as a character. I still laugh when hes moping through the ship looking like someone stole his favorite sucker and he says 'Hey, Hombre..." also, that was the episode where it seems James' fasination with cross-dressing began. "Like, dont I make just the coooolest girl!"
The first episode that I truly liked though was Here Comes the Squitle Squad because, chronologically speaking, it was the eppy where James got to shine for the first time. The whole scene where the Squitle Squad had Team Rocket tied up and was eating their picnic food was priceless! "Dont EVER talk to me like that again, you BAD human! BAD BAD HUMAN!" and "I WANT A DOUGHNUT!"
For shits and giggles, My top 10
1. Pikachu's Goodbye
2. Meowth Rules!
3. St. Anne/Pokemon Shipwreck/Island of the Giant Pokemon
4. Here COmes the Squitle Squad
5.Who Gets to Keep Togepi?
6.Go West Young Meowth
7. Holy Matrimony
8. Wake Up, Snorlax and Snack Attack
9. Hypno's Naptime
10. The Battling Eevee Brothers
Also, I really liked the special Pokemon: Gotta Dance' that went with the Latios/Latias movie. I found it delightfully hilarious ^_^
I believe my first episode was the second Jigglypuff episode. (The one where Team Rocket raps their motto, I think.) I remember being really excited because we didn't have the channel it came on up until that point and I was desperate to watch because I was obsessed with the game. I was really confused about the characters for the most part during the episode for some reason... For example, I was convinced for all of four seconds that James was Gary.
...Don't ask me how or why, I honestly don't know.
The first episode I saw was actually the first one. I had heard about Pokémon from several video game mags before and was quite eager to find out what the japanese fellows were so excited about. I pretty much stumbled over the first episode by accident while channel switching. Honestly I wasn't too impressed, the animation nothing bug mediocre. What was worse though is that they gave Pikachu a german dubbing voice (done by the german dubber of Misty) and it sounded horrible. I'm glad they stopped doing that after 20 or so episodes and eliminated that dubbing completely in reruns too.

Whoa, a german dub voice for Pikachu? We here in Finland kept the original voice. I myself did not get it at first, I was just wondering what was that Japanese name 'Ikue Otani' doing among those Finnish voice actor names. But some grazy voice actor changes have happened here, too.
Anyway, my first episode was Pokémon Emergency. I have this friend who was living in the same secondary family as I, so he's sort of my little brother, and I saw him watching a new cartoon and decided to take a look. I had almost never seen an anime before, so I was amazed and captured. Pokémon became my favourite TV show for years. Now I think it could do better jutice for games though.
